The first scene was hysterical. We saw Caesar and Joseph do a bit of good cop/bad cop to the poor mailman simply doing his job. Caesar was calm and collected, using his words, but if he had to, he was willing to break the law to get what they needed. Joseph on the other hand, as rash and hot headed as he is, was just bullying the poor guy and trying to steal the letters. I was laughing so hard when Joseph was pretending to hit him but pulling back with an excuse at the last second. He can be such a tool. Regardless, it was all for naught as Lisa Lisa got the information out of Suzie Q with hypnosis, even down to an address, so they headed to Switzerland.
The panel of everyone in the car was radical, a great shot of the players of Battle Tendency. We had Lisa Lisa set the mood by saying they’ll do anything they need to, including breaking the law or sacrificing themselves. However, the part I found interesting was how this leads into speculation over Joseph’s girlfriend. He has to have a baby or there would be no more Jojo, so the question when a woman appears is always “is this the one”? First the lady Straizo took who Joseph had a bit of a fight with, then Lisa Lisa, and now Suzie Q all sparked this question. However, thinking back to the end of part 1, Joseph’s dad dying but Smokey simply saying “it seems his mother died as well” is interesting. Remember the baby that was saved by Erina and Jonathan? That baby presumably has to have a role and that baby as well as the one Erina was carrying would make for the correct generational gap, so I think we’re going to have a Joseph mom-twist regarding Lisa Lisa. My friend even commented that Lisa Lisa looks like Joseph with makeup and maybe he wasn’t so off. And let’s be honest, Suzie Q’s flirting with Joseph and now her waiting for him to get back alive like Erina did for Jonathan speaks for her being the obvious answer. I take it she’ll be the next Jojo mom.
Lastly, we got a sneak peak at Switzerland. It was obvious in the colored version that Cars was the mysterious man due to his colour scheme, and I must say, it is a bit sad to see him not naked. Regardless, what we were shown was absolutely fascinating. The things we know about Cars is that he is the most intelligent, I think it was he who created the mask, he is the highest of the Pillar Man hierarchy and he is guided, not having fun but focusing on getting the super Aja. Moreover, the first scenes of him showed him forgiving Wham for striking him and taking the blame for stepping in his shadow which led me to think he’s a good and understanding leader, and here we had a scene of him saving a puppy. What is that about? From what we know, Pillar Men see humans like humans see ants, yet he wouldn’t strike the drivers unless he wanted to save the puppy. To care about life outside of them is unexpected and perhaps unprecedented, and he did prioritize dog life over human life, although here the humans were the aggressors. And further, I don’t think Cars has really done much that was directly harmful, it’s mostly been Wham and ACDC who have. In a sense to even care about non-ripple beings and to not ignore them is something notable. Interesting stuff from this mysterious bastard..
I’m glad I wasn’t alone when my first thought was, “THAT DOG IS GOING TO DIE”! If Araki wrote Dio hurting Danny to let us know he was the scum of the earth, does saving a dog mean you’re a saint?
Edit: I gave further thought to the Cars-dog situation. Perhaps it was simply there to show he is perceptive of beings that are below him in a way the other Pillar Men can be oblivious. Further, the humans were going to run over that dog like Wham walked through Mark, without even noticing it. Maybe his goal was to put them in their place so to speak, to show that only the Pillar Men can be that reckless at the top of the food chain.. The fact that he didn’t seem to care about the dog who wanted help makes me think it was possibly not about the dog at all. I’m not so sure but it was definitely interesting. A third theory past valuing a life, or exercising power is that he's a dog guy, but if he was I think he'd show more care for the dog before or after it almost died. Then again, maybe his serious personality would only allow him to show it in small ways. |
