Just started watching Lupin again. I've really missed this show.

I remember loving it on Adult Swim when it would actually come on (I think it aired at 5am...)

Gotta love the silliness of the dub. "Oh pops that aftershave just drives me wild!"

Haha, watching this series on Adult Swim actually got me into anime. It was the only good one they showed.

It's sad that Adult Swim doesn't play it anymore, but Toonami Aftermath does. Lupin is the best.

Sure. Covering yourself in metal and spending over a Trillion dollars on a ship you'll just end up blowing up is the way to go if you want to kill Lupin. xD

That was quite brutal for a first episode. How many people died on that ship, 6500? And it was done just so casually. And the final scene with Zenigata adds to the ridiculousness of it all.

That "Lisbon international port" that looks nothing like the real thing was also amusing.

This was a little too over the top, even for a series such as Lupin. Still, it's nice to see everyone again. ^_^

Very sad episode. Nobody survived. Except the main characters.

Is it just me, or was the animation for part 1 better than this? It looked a lot crisper and cleaner.

Dam, did they just kill 6k+ people on that ship? Lupin got dark.

When I watched part 1, I thought Scorpion would be Lupin's enemies throughout the entire show but they never showed up again. Hopefully they will do the same for part 2.

Fujiko's seiyuu from part 1 was better imo. Also did her boobs get bigger? I'm going to have to look up why they switched.

Well, this is more brutal than first series, I don´t remember innocent people dying there.
You all need to watch Nami.

Not a very good episode in my opinion, but I'm sure it'll get better.

My reaction to the end of the episode:

That was awful, it wasn't funny at all.
And Jigen, what's up with that nose?

This first episode was terrible, but well, the first series also started badly with Scorpion and their lame and expensive traps. Hopefully this will get better. The art of this series is also way worse than the original, but I can live with that.

Yeah that got dark real quick. Innocent bystanders don't die in Lupin's escapades, he takes steps to make sure that doesn't happen so yeah that just changed real quick.

And also no one wants to mention Goemon's sword broke?

Damn, Fujiko looks even hotter in this series than the first one. It's nice to see all the crew together again.

So was like, Lupin never planning on reuniting the old gang? That's kinda a depressing thought. Liked the continuity in this, with the bad guy being from the first season and the five year thing matching up with the real life airing of the episodes but otherwise this wasn't that good. I didn't really like the first episode of season 1 either though, so hopefully it'll improve. Hopefully I'll get use to it, but the art is definitely a downgrade from the first season so far, and I don't care for Fujiko's new VA.

@Terrestrious If you are hoping for a return of the earliest episodes tone, you will be disappointed. This second series is fully embracing the adventure concept developed in the later part of the first one. And the rounder drawings are here to stay.

Oh no, I'm not hoping for that. As I mentioned, I didn't like the first episode of season one, and that extends to probably a good amount of the first half. There were a few I really liked, that Magician episode (episode 2) and the prison one (episode 5 I believe) were really great for example but it wasn't until the second half of the season where I started to enjoy the series consistently. I'll admit, it's slightly disappointing that the earlier tone won't appear eventually, if just for the sake of variety but I'm fine with this direction. It's just I didn't think this was a particular entertaining version of that style.

& yeah, I didn't think the art style would change, I'm just hoping the reason it didn't work for me is more because it's slightly different from the earlier one (enough to make everything feel slightly off) rather than just something I don't like. I'm sure I'll get use to it though, got like 150+ episodes in this season alone.

Oh, I remember him
That's the very first episode xD
So he's called Mr.X, he looked like Mr.X in RE2 :P

Haha of course Zenigata is alive and riding a turtle

Pretty nice start. The first season was a mixed bag for me, but I like the new style here. So let's see how it goes.

A new look, and the red jacket. Part II is here. It's kind of cool that they really went their separate ways for five years, precisely the time that went by between the ending of the first part and the start of this one. But I love to see them together so I guess I have to thank Mr. X for his invitation.

A luxurious cruise, which was actually a deadly trap, is a pretty cool setting for a reunion. Mr. X became some kind of inhuman monster, and wasted a lot of money just to kill Lupin and his friends. And though he did defeat Goemon and Jigen, Lupin's quick wit and combo with Fujiko won the battle. It's also kind of funny that Zenigata was chasing them out in the sea just like in the last episode of the previous part. xD The eyecatch is pretty charming too.

It was amusing how Lupin dealt with the Scorpion's boss using the same trick as in the first series.

New Fujiko design and VA takes some getting used to.

Wow pretty dark episode even for Lupin standarts, liked the very clever trick he used to beat Mr. Scorpion without much effort. The new artstyle is still good and I also heard that the dub is worth watching.

This was surprisingly meta for 70s standards. The episode even ends with the crew heading from the sea to the city, as opposed to the end of part one where they swim towards the ocean.

I don't like that art style, I much prefer the style of series 1. Now that I have the negatives out of the way, the positives. I can see what people mean by series 1 being the odd one out with OP music. The series 1 OP was catchy (Well, the first OP of that series), but this one actually has the restraint to not spend every single second saying "Lupin III". Speaking of, I wasn't expecting the first episode of this series to callback to the first episode of the first series.

First opinion, it's just okay. I'd say this has an equally mid start like series 1 had, though I also presume that this series will have higher highs than that previous series. 6/10, it'll probably get better. Hopefully it gets as over-the-top goofy as the second half of series 1 did, because those episodes were god-tier,

Lupin, Jigen, Goemon, and Fujiko reunite after 5 years. I thought Mr. X was some kind of alien with how he looked in his initial introduction in the shadows.

Fujiko taking care of Lupin's ass was funny.

Lupin being sad about Zenigata's possible death was cute.

5 anos depois da Part1, a gangue se une de forma épica numa armadilha do 1º vilão da série. O conflito se resolve rápido demais, tenho de me acostumar com os novos designs e com a tônica mais sexy (em comparação com a Part1), mas foi um bom começo.
