| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Oo, we meet Hanako this episode. She's kinda cute. Seems like she's the daughter of one of the shop's owners. The pacing is interesting for this show. It continues to establish characters for their personalities and roles. I wonder how far they can keep this going considering the plot still needs some work in regards to storybuilding. However, the show definitely stays honest with its content so far and I love the energy of the characters. |

| Training starts, and otaku guy doesn't want to. For the beginner runners, they are already tired just for that distance they did while that main guy can run more. That proves what he said about this group is impossible. Meeting a girl who is looking for that senpai wanting to join Hakone Ekiden. The girl is used to motivate them, except otaku guy who gets tired every time he runs, and not get main guy to run on his own. Megane guy skips and goes to club. Scary senpai acts again. lol~ the twins got convinced for the girl. The talk about the seriousness of joining. Then main guy saw someone he knew and made him shiver. Seems like the reason why he keeps objecting is revealed next ep.? |

| I think this may very well be my favourite this season. The pacing is good and looks like we've just gotten into the story.The characters and their interactions really standout and i lol'd at Otaku guys Why? shirt. Haiji seems to be quite the popular guy, more to that i'm sure Also love the score |

| It just takes one girl to make them run, wow. One thing i really want to see and would be really satisfying is Haiji apologizing for his actions, if not to the members who actually run now but to Prince alone. It would make him more human than he is now. The twins have a point here, they obviously don't know Kakeru's backstory (we don't either at this point) but from their point of view, it looks like he's just being a loner who doesn't want to be with them or maybe even underestimates them and just runs off on his own pace. The writing so far has been nice, the only thing i really want to see (ye, i'm kinda repeating myself) is Haiji taking responsibility and that would elevate it IMO. |
| The team members don't have it easy, Yuki got cock blocked and looks like he could die at any moment xD But at least under 14:30 for 5km as standard time is pretty crazy. The 16:30 for the qualifier seem doable, but 30:00 for 10km are tough again, especially for our team here. 10 months are a lot of time, tho, so let's see. |

| I love how they got motivated when the girl is present, reminded me a lot of my team lol. Prince should try switching his jeans with something more suitable for running. It would make it a bit easier for him. And that guy at the end looks like Matou Shinji to me. Wonder if they are both dicks as well, wouldn't surprise me. |

| The twins are my least favourite characters so far. How can you be so easily persuaded by the presence of a girl? The otaku is the funniest and the best. Please, don't change much. I am not liking all the manipulating scenes. They're funny, but the humour is lost if he manages to persuade them successfully. I hope they all join the race because they want to. The protagonist is starting to feel more and more like Kageyama. It's neither a good thing, nor a bad thing. It's just something I felt. The art and animation are so beautiful. It's not as detailed as Kyoto animation, but the story, art, animation, voice acting and music all feel like they belong together. This studio's ability to do that is why it's my favourite studio. They always make me look forward to the next episode. |

| The pacing is pretty slow, but it isn't a problem. Every episode is very enjoyable. Prince's struggling was hilarious lol. I like every character, but tbh Kurahara's attitude is starting to get kinda annoying. |

It was only after I graduated that I learnt they were twins. |
| Haiji has been really forceful, but pretty much everyone but Kurahara, and Prince are on board with it, and Haiji was really smart too, he motivated everyone with a pretty girl! He has a good ally for sure, and she must really care about him or about Hakone to agree to do this. And well, Kurahara was being really insufferable trying to rain on everyone's parade, and ruin Haiji's dream with his condescending pessimism, so I was really glad when the twins asked him what was his "deal", and he had no answer. I know he most certainly has some painful reason for being like this about running, and he also likes to run, but he's running away from running lol, come on! I really laughed with poor Prince trying to keep up though, or just lying dead. XD |

| Great episode again. Prince is absolutely hilarious, that philosophical ramble before their first run had me laughing so much. XD "Where has your human dignity gone? We're allowing ourselves to be forced to run without objection Can we really call ourselves people?" XDDD Heh, a cute girl is all you need to run. :P Haiji is a freaking master manipulator, the way he coerced the glasses dude was absolutely priceless. xD I loved the scene with Haiji riling up the twins, IG showing off their Haikyuu production there. xD On that matter, absolutely fantastic production so far, animation, direction and the soundtrack are all top notch. The twins do have a point on Kakeru, it's not like he's affected by the training, he's just running as normal. Backstory soon? That dude at the end looks like a Red Hair version of Shinji Matou from Fate/Stay Night so you kinda already know that he's nothing but trouble. xD |

| I see Haiji has really worked hard to convince the guys, but I think Kurahara is still having doubt about the whole situation. Speaking of him I think that guy in the end is from his past and he seems like a bad vibe if I may say. I'm loving this show and I think it would be great in the end. I'm always hyped to watch it. |

| Ugh, Prince is basically me in the mornings... I almost can feel his pain. Be strong man, you only need to get used to this new routine. I liked this episode although Kurahara's pessimism toward his companions is becoming rather annoying. I hope the new character who appeared at the end can help us understand more about his backstory. That aside, it was another good ep. Looking forward to the next one. |
| Eh, I don't know. So far I'm just not feeling it for this series. I always like a good sport story but so far this anime hasn't given me a reason to care about it. I think my biggest problem so far is Haiji. He hasn't given a real reason on why he wants to run Hakone. All we've gotten is just, "I want to do this and you guys are going to help me." Sorry, that's not a reason. That's just an excuse, selfish rather. What's the real reason? This may be a unpopular opinion but I agree with Kurahara's comment about Haiji being reckless and that he's forcing others to go along with his plan through manipulation. Getting motivated because a pretty girl happen to come along and Haiji convincing the twins that if they run women will approach them? Come on, I know that does happen in real life but it still feels cheap. Watching these three episodes there are times I feel like that Haiji is trying too hard to be like Yoichi Hiruma from Eyeshield 21. In that story Hiruma was also manipulative but he had good intentions. He wanted to go to the Christmas Bowl, a goal he made very clear from the start. Yeah, his methods might have been extreme, very extreme, but if he didn't at least try he would regret it for the rest of his life. And while his teammates did suffer Hiruma did bring out the best of them and they became better people in the end. So what's Haiji's goal? What's the point in all of this? I'll stick around for another 1-3 episodes but if I not given the real reason I'm not going to motivated to continue watching and will have to drop. |

Idk how far he would need to go before it bothered me, but after everyone's sorta settled in and committed to running, it would be pretty cool to see him drop some sort of apology/appreciation. On another note, I liked how the twins sort of confronted Kakeru about why tf he cares so much about them wanting to run. And also whyyyyyyyyy did they have to blue balls me so hard not telling us the times?? |

| The Prince is so precious! I just wanna give him a big hug <333 The only thing bothering me a little about this show is how manipulative Haiji is. But the show keeps getting better by the day! So glad they addressed the elephant in the room and outright asked Kakeru why he was being so upset over the entire affair. By the way, running 1 km in 3 minutes is FREAKING CRAZY. They have to convince me how they're eventually going to do that. AND MORE SENTO BATHING SCENES ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) |
| I'm so glad this show is 2-cour. Since there was a movie made out of the novel I'm assuming that the show will be a more fleshed out and complete adaptation. Either way I'm really glad I gave this show a chance. |

| I don't mind at all that Kakeru looks like Kageyama Tobio, i have realised the more he looks and acts like him the more i like the character. :D Good at the sport, bad communicator.. Seems like Kakeru is also similar in a way that he doesn't work well together with others, so i am now eager to see what's his backstory. |

| I'm kinda enjoying this. The boys are a fun group to watch. The only thing I can't stand is Haiji's imposing attitude seriously what's wrong with him. I wish someone would just punch his face. |

He was running before he met the guys and found the apartment, so why would he stop? Just his daily routine anyway. |

| Good episode, it was hilarious to see King’s struggles and nice to see the intricate natural Character interactions between the cast. I lol’d when King came up with the glorious quote of the meaning of being true to oneself and the importance’s of that in deterring a person and his “Why?” shirt xD. The twin brothers getting completely fooled because of the girl is a big *facepalm* but hilarious nevertheless. Looks like we’re going to see the backstory of our main character next episode so I’m looking forward to seeing why he’s been so half-assed and reluctant when it comes to relays. On another note. to be frankly honest, this show is just not clicking in for me. I’m really enjoying the stunning soundtrack, great production value but the Character of Haiji and Kakeru has really been bothering me for a while now. I really liked and geniunely enjoyed the first episode but I just couldn’t seem to enjoy the later two as much. Haiji’s sheer persistence and narrow-minded dream forcing all the other members have been hilarious, for sure, but the way the other characters fall for them just makes it a drag to watch. It’d make more sense for them to leave the dorm than to actually keep up with Haiji’s selfishness. Regarding Kakeru’s behaviour though, the twins really hit the mark there, he’s been participating in the runs but actively discouraging the others in the meantime(irony, much?). Well, but that’s about it for the downsides, the rest has been pretty good so far. |

So the girl runs down the hill and holds her skirt to stop a revealing panties shot. Then the guys state that main guy dating a highschool wasn't probable, as she is too young. Are we sure this is actually anime? |

| I'm seriously into this already and I'm veeeeeeery happy cause I don't think we've had a nice sports anime in a while. We finally see them running! I love these boys? They're all unique in their own way and I like that they're in uni. It makes it a little less cheesy (at least for me). I gotta say although it has been mentioned already, Kakeru is Kageyama 2.0 and he's so boring. I get zero vibes from him. And the cute kawaii bubbly manager is just ugggghhhh...they just can't help themselves, huh, they gotta have one. Ffs Haiji is a treasure, at least. What a sh*tface!! He knows exactly what he's doing and he's not going to back down until he has it all. Also for some reason it feels like they blew the entire budget on his face. Akane face first in the grass was so relatable I almost cried. Can't wait for more. |

| One could say that Kurahara is kinda destroying the mood and all but to be honest: He is just being realistic. I liked how the twins actually confronted him directly. That was something I was actually looking forward to. ^^ P.S. This is my favourite series of the current season! (atleast so far) |
