Welp, it's over. This Holy Grail War season comes to a conclusion after all the battles and drama.

I can't help but find William the Shakespeare's personality even in the finale to be hysterical. That Dragon though. While it seemed like a fitting finale, it felt blend. I couldn't get invested into most of the characters by the latter half of the show. This could of really been a better show imo (although it did have a bit to work with even at 25 episodes)

Seeing Jeanne again though...now that's quite something.

It ended, quite the long 25 eps eh.
Anyways wasnt a fan of the intro regarding Shiro and his servant whom I still cant remember her name.

So Sieg decided to become a dragon to carry the big bad orb to someplace else in order to help humanity, Leticia went on her own journey wishing that Sieg and Jeanne would meet again and Astolfo the trap kun.. well he is what he is.

Glad that Sieg and Jeanne found each other again, and damn... Jeanne = "Before we go, I have something to say...Im in love with you"
That confession was fucking adorable.

Overall a good series, it had its meh times with too much talking and its huge cast but it was pretty enjoyable since the only characters I cared for were Sieg and Jeanne, glad to see they had their happy ending and Im a sucker for it especially this new years eve so 4/5!

Yeah thats how it ended in the LN. Kind of a meh ending to be honest. Enjoyed seeing Shakespeare make it to the end kinda lol. THe fafnir thing was bound to happen since he used his seals already and Astolfo survives even though he was the the third weakest servant. Nice to see Waver again as well as Roche I think. Can't wait for Fate Extra Encore to air already

Just an info for peeps. Sieg and Jeanne meeting did not take place INSTANTLY. It took Sieg YEARS, Centuries or Millenia most likely before meeting Jeanne. Likewise, it took a LONG TIME AND EFFORT before Jeanne could find a connection from the Throne of Heroes to the Reverse Side of the World.

Also, Sieg made a cameo in one of Fate spinoffs. He is a "lonely black dragon waiting for someone".

Overall average show with a nice ending. Sieg was a pretty bland MC, but I don't think he deserved all the hate he got. Probably give this around a 6/10 or so.

Not bad, but not good either. It definitely had its moments, but overall, it was a pretty uneventful series. Unlike the other Fate stuff, I didn't know much about its source material prior to watching this anime, so I can't tell if it was a good adaptation or not. Ehh, I'll probably remember this series for episode 22 and nothing else XD

It was a masterpiece until episode 12. That scene with Vlad III becoming a vampire was the best vampire scene I've ever seen in an anime. I can't stop feeling bad for him. And the way how it ended with Shirou using the same quote that Kirei used was just perfect.
Too bad it became extremely boring after episode 12.
At least I'm glad that Karna lost in a 2 vs 1, so it made a lot more sense than Shirou vs Gilgamesh. I wouldn't be satisfied if Karna had lost in a 1 vs 1 against the protagonist. Not only Astolfo helped the protagonist to beat Karna, but they also needed the shield of Achilles for it.
I also like how Astolfo survived in the end.

I really enjoyed this ride. Jeanne D'Arc is my favorite from fate, so i was really happy to see her animated. Plus, this had some of my favorite servants, and some others became part of my favorites in the way.

The story was full of flaws, can't deny that. Some were adaptation, and some were from source material.

Sieg is one of the flattest MC i've seen in a long time. Being hommunculus shouldn't be an excuse for not being an interesting character. Because of that same reason, i found it hard to feel a Sieg/Jeanne relationship. Felt pretty boring and with no real development to me. (Altough that last "i love you" was the cutest thing)

The series had some good points too...the music and some animation segments, particularly that one episode were great.

I wonder if you can still summon Astolfo on another war by someone else after this or you can't because Astolfo is still in use?

You can. It was explained in Fate/Stay Night. The servants summoned are copies of the originals that are in the Throne of Heroes. So Astolfo can basically be summoned infinitely regardless of time or space without causing any time paradox. But they are not "just copies", since the original receives the memory of what happened to the copy.
I'm really hoping that he will appear in Fate/Extella Link, since Charlemagne is a confirmed character in it.

We must limit many things, is true, the end may have been hurried, because I would have liked to see more of Jeanne's journey for centuries to find the Dragon that stole the immortality of humanity... is true. But even so there were things that referred too much to the "Shirou and Saber Fate Route Ending Reference"

...Saber and Shiro in the afterlife at their meeting in Avalon and I don't disapprove it, on the contrary, they brought fucking sad back to my heart.

Thank you for that, suffering makes you feel alive ;)

It is incredible that in the novel, Jeanne was looking for Sieg for centuries, I also liked that in the novel but now we could make the connection with the memories of the Dragon of a Maiden, a Pucella that came to see him from a long trip to take him to the paradise... that paradise, will be heaven... Avalon? I don't think so, Jeanne hated the English, it would be funny if they came to the same heaven and started fighting for the Hundred Years' War.

In the most personal opinion, it is not the relationship with Jeanne that fills my mind with sweetness, but rather the good and sweet heart of Astolfo, who from the beginning tried that Sieg could have a human life after helping him to be free, outside of Yggdmillennia's Castle.

And that good heart of Paladin and noble knight was rewarded with the option to survive the War of the Holy Grail, have a human life and someday become human by the desire of Sieg, that Astolfo himself wanted for Sieg... that is sweet.

For my Astolfo has a Waifu's Heart in the a Husbando's Wrapping 💜💜

I liked the escape, but fuck! couldn't go Hipo-kun above the fortress of Hanging Gardens of Babylon? I mean, it was more logical, Of course, but if they didn't, we wouldn't have seen Sieg in the form of a Dragon?? Okay. xD

Be happy Waifu, live as a human, become human, write your own Monogatari...

Is incredible! finally we have a second Winner of the Holy Grail War, which is not a PAIN IN THE ASS! He is nice, good-hearted, honest and more good-looking than a certain Babylonian fool.

Beautiful and proper Waifu/Husbando to send to fuck this 2017!

Well, yeah. But that's actually a good thing, right? It's not "every day" that a servant survives in a main story.

Wandering eternally until they meet with their beloved... I like this kind of endings... but overall apocrypha was meh.

Oh, I know that they rewrote a more gloomy and dramatic ending from the original novella, but this one also suited me. The dynamics of the "three" main characters and the moments of how the brother and sister returned to normal life were just wonderful.

And yes, this conversation between Astolfo and Sieg .... well, I was ready for the first time in my life to wait for a kiss between two males :)

Still a shame that the show started with a lot of potential just to become a cliche like shounen. Tho some battles were cool.

Yea right, obviously the reason they muted Sieg's dialogues was 'cus his wish was actually "I want to be a motherfucking dragon"

Oh and I guess Astolfo just decided to stick around 'cus why not I guess.

And welp its over. Assassin really is forgiving of Shirou huh. Even after his plan failed it's nice seeing Shirou and assassin have this last talk though. It truly was a blessing that the two of them were master and servant though. The inside of the grail sure is pretty though. Hmm so Sieg turned into a dragon then. An interesting wish that he had though. As long as the grail remains it will keep granting wishes to humans. So as long as it's somewhere where there are none then things will be fine. Its nice that in the end Fiore and Caules survived. I wonder what will Astolfo do now though. Its that we got to see what happened to the survivors though as well and that we get to see Sieg and Ruler reunite.

What a based guy this Amakusa Shirou Tokisada was man, he died believing into his cause until the very end (and what a great name as well)

Can't believe an actual guy with this name really existed in our history.

Really good Fate series in my opinion, probably the best entry in this universum after Fate Zero, cause even no matter how much annoying Sieg was he can't be worse then Emiya "people die when they are killed". This is peak for the Fate, its as good as it gets, telling you this as an expert in this field.

Okay finale.

I didn't know that Shirou was actually defeated in the blast last episode, I thought there was gonna be more to the fight.

The best part of the episode was the first scene between Semiramis and Shirou, that was really nice. Everything else was so and so for me.

Not sure how Astolofo still lives but whatever I guess. xD

I guess the final scene was good too.

Overall, this is easily the weakest Fate work I've watched till date which is a shame since I attribute the show's main issue solely to Sieg and Sieg alone. I find him bland, uninteresting as a protagonist, in fact he just exists as a protagonist because there needs to be one in the story. He has absolutely nothing going for him and gets everything handed to him on a silver platter, he has zero reason to be in the grail war apart from just getting pulled into it and somehow he just becomes the center of the grail war? Whatever. The characters like him for absolutely no reason I can think of, in fact he's pretty much like one of those dense annoying harem protagonists that I simply dislike. He was in no way a good enough main character to carry this show in any way. Pretty much anyone apart from him would have made a better main character, Lion and Mordred, Shirou and Semiramis who I would've liked to follow the most or even Frankenstein's master would've made a better MC. It's a real shame that the story is pulled down so much because of him, I find this really sad since Apocrypha had some of the coolest servants and none of them were really explored because we needed to focus on Sieg cause he's the MC. Not to mention the amount of plot armor and convenience he gets especially with the way Jeanne basically spoon-feeds him everything he needs and the way they took down Karna. Honestly I would love to see a Fate work with more focus on Karna and possibly Arjuna as a servant, I'd love to see an anime that tries to showcase some Indian mythology.
Once again, it's a real shame that the story was so weak since A-1 did a fantastic job animating this especially the fights which were stunning. The soundtrack was pretty good too. Props to A-1 for their production on Apocrypha. As someone mentioned above, this show is probably gonna be remembered for Episode 22 and perhaps that alone.

That was a decent ending. I thought that the first half was really good and kept me interested what's going to happen next, but the next half was rather dull and the last 5-6 episodes i want it to call just finishing the series. Just didn't find some homunculus Sieg fitting for the mc role and how he was being made into OP machine more and more. My favorites were Mordred and her master Shishigo and Semirarmis and well they weren't the center of the anime so that also should be big factor, but the scene with Shiro and Semiramis was pretty good and sad. Still think that Karna or mb Achilleus could've just destroyed the whole black faction if they continued as it was supposed and find it kinda strange that they were all so afraid of the Dracula?!
Oh and that ending reminded me of Berseria, but to be fair that should be pretty common overall story. While finishing new Persona and as much as amazing as it is i thought that it had same ending as Berseria ...
Couple of words about animation, quite obvious that budget was not that big so quite a lot quality drops and some werid and interesting animation style decisions. This anime had the most epic music and it was really good, but it was kinda strange that even when sometimes nothing was happening this epic music was playing =/
Overall it was good, not amazing, not even close, but thought it might've been much better. I guess 7/10 should be ok.
And Happy New Year!

10/10 if you were only watching for the characters. The bright spot of the series for me was that I found the relationships to be pretty endearing--Mordred and Shishigo, Semiramis and Amakusa, Achilles and Atalante, etc.

The score is a lot less if you cared about plot integrity and all that. Because the plot bent about as much as Astolfo's gender to give Sieg a happy ending.

Well it's finally over, and it looks like just about everyone got a happy ending. Shirou and Semiramis had a nice moment before they died/disappeared, Astolfo is ok, and Jeanne at the very end was reunited with Sieg. Even Shakespeare's final scene leading up to his death showed that he seemed pretty fine with how things turned out, and he was hilarious to the very end. I'll probably miss him the most, after the GoLion/Mordred duo.

It was an ok show overall, definitely (in my own personal opinion) one of the weaker Fate entries. Once Sieg was introduced and the story focused all of its attention on him, the show kind of went downhill. I think I've mentioned before how I feel like GoLion and Mordred would have been better MCs, and I actually thought they were the MCs before Sieg took over. They, along with several other characters, would have been way more interesting to follow and explore, but that opportunity wasn't available because everything focused on Sieg instead. Still, I'll give the show credit where its due and mention that the fights, and the animation during those fights, were probably the only truly memorable aspects of this show. Episode 22 will most likely be one of the few standouts, if not the only standout, of this show for most people. My score would probably be 1 or 2 points lower if not for the great fight scenes.

With all that being said, I'm looking forward to Fate Extra next season. I'm sure everyone in this forum will be there too lol.

Ugh so much to rant about..
1) How did Shirou survive blasted tree? Hell how dafaq did Sieg survive it??
2) Why were Sieg and Astolfo crowned the winning master and servant when Shirou Semiramis and Shakespeare were still alive?
3) How did Astolfo stay alive after the war? When Shakespeare just died.
4) Where dafaq did Sieg fly off to with the grail and how did Jeanne even get there?
5)How did Jeanne turn Sieg back into his human form?
Only thing I enjoyed this episode was the Semiramis and Shirou farewell the rest made little to no sense to me

1) They have superhuman stats + they can heal if they have enough magical energy. Sieg's body was already about to turn into a dragon so i assume that allowed him to survive the blast.
2)Watch the ep again, Shirou died b4 Sieg talked to the grail. Thus, Sieg and Astolfo r the only master & servant pair left.
3) Sieg is still providing magical energy for Astolfo. Shirou died so Shakespeare no longer had anything to tie him.
4) to the reverse side of the world where it cannot affect anyone. It actually took countless of centuries for Jeanne to reach that place but i'm not sure how.

Shirou x Semiramis? Why? There has barely been any romantic interactions between them in 25 episodes. It would have made more sense for Astolfo and Sieg to kiss at this point. And yet both relationships are better than Jeanne x Sieg which is the "official" romance...

With the Extra anime coming up, all the F/GO ovas that are in production, hell, even AOTY 2018, the original Shokugeki Emiya-san cooking show we have all been waiting for is getting an adaptation, it needs to be said...

The ending made me feel like I was reading Fate/Stay Night: "Last Episode" again, in a good way.

So basically, I'm very happy with the respect to mechanics:

- Best girl Astolfo gained incarnation from the Grail? (Like Gilgamesh, but I wonder where he'd get his magic supply from)
- No Angra Mainyuu corruption at the Third War, cause Darnic stole the Grail beforehand
- Third Magic: "Heaven's Feel" hypothetically was working just fine
- Sieg can reach the Reverse Side of the World as a Phantasmal beast (Dragon)
- A servant can reach it from the Throne of Heroes, but the likelihood is lower than 1%. They need to be insanely obsessed and it can take what would be an eternity on the outside. Let's not even get started on how much harder getting into Avalon from there would have been for Emiya.

2)Sieg and Astolfo were already in the grail before Shirou died their scene was just shown later.
3)Sieg should've lost all command seals since his arm went all black so how is he still powering up Astolfo?
4) what is this reverse side of the world has it ever been brought up before this? And how on earth does Jeanne even get there? How? And you mean to tell me she stayed thirsty for Sieg for countless centuries?? Wtf why did she even like him? I just don't understand

You know, that this is one timeline out of a massive multi-universe right? The reverse side of the world is an important aspect of the Nasuverse. The Throne of Heroes (Where heroic spirits reside) is outside of the time axis, so while it is God knows how long for Sieg, and us; for Jeanne, it was like retracing her steps over and over a near infinite amount of times until she found it.

Educate yourself on Type Moon and Nasuverse, there's a great big wiki with everything.

Quick question: why couldn't they just destroy the grail? (seems to have worked fine in F/SN)

That was before it began granting a wish, or the "door" was open and accepted. It was too late here. Even while already damaged, no one really had the power to stop it at the point.

The trap gets to stay because we must replicate FSN's endings even the final one with Jeanne and Sieg playing the roles of Shirou and Saber.
This shitshow is finally over. So many wasted heroic spirits and a horrible MC, not that the antagonists were any better. The idea of this 7v7 holy grail war sounds good on paper but you're just spreading yourself too thin diving screen time among a bucket of characters, not that that screentime was meaningful characterization anyway. And to to top it off they put some random bland uninteresting homunculus as MC and handed him a free power up by throwing away Siegfried, and you're supposed to care about these characters for 25 episodes.
At least A1 pictures delivered on the animation for the fights when they needed to, A1's work is the only good thing about this show when it's usually the opposite with them lowballing shows with derp animations.
Worst Fate easily. Fate/Extra is looking a lot better already even though it has another blank canvas as a MC.

I must say, that was a pretty satisfying ending. Shirou died, stilling believing in his wish all the way to the very end. His talk with Semiramis, along with the kiss between the two, was pretty good.

Sieg's wish came true and became a massive dragon that took the grail away from the human world, so that Shirou's wish won't come true. Either way, I'm happy that Astolfo is still around after the war ended and also had a good parting chat with Laeticia as well.

The scene after the credits was pretty memorable, as Jeanne finally encounters Sieg after who knows how long it took for her to find him. She finally confessed her love to him, which was really sweet. =)

So the 25 episode ride is finally over and I will miss the show, although I won't deny that it had many flaws to certain story choices, as well as a few annoying characters.

Still, the soundtrack was faultless and while nowhere on ufotable's level, A-1 Pictures can still pat themselves on the back for their solid job on the animation and art department, with episode 22 being the highlight of the show with the strong fluidity-style animation for the multiple fights. =)

7/10 is my final score. Now bring on Fate Extra! =D
