This was an interesting episode. Considering the war strategies employed by the armies, there's a feel of psychological warfare.

I'm also kinda impressed at the risk Halil is taking with his troops.
There's not many episodes left but to me, this episode did a fairly well drama at delivering a war story.

This was an impressive episode. Each army tries to outsmart each other, but the Empire managed to win. They have smart people that comes up with brilliant strategies. Poor Halil. Mahmut is going to do his absolute best to defeat the Empire.

Damn, Halil Pasha got taken down.

Was really sad to see him defeated and the scene where his head is display as a trophy on a pike was really sad. :(

The show wasted no time squeezing the war itself, the death AND mourning of Hilal Pasha all in one episode. Lol

Not that I dislike it though. This anime is super underrated.

Well this episode worked out a lot better than the previous one. Halil tried to evade the empire, but were outsmarted by Lily the beautiful strategist. Halil tried to surround Pino's army, but the Ballistae with that shrapnel just screwed them over. Once they were surrounded, they were done. And Halil's head on a pike along with some beheading...the morale breaker. Even worse is that the imperial army now controls the livestock that the Torque army had, so Mahmut's efforts to try to stall the Empire by taking their supplies just backfired on him.

And next episode looks like it'll be a battle of the minds between Mahmut and Lily. Alright Mahmut. Halil told you to do something, so do something!

Meanwhile, Zaganos looks like he plans to strike at the heart of the empire while Pino's army is dealing with Mahmut. You got four episodes, so make something happen!

Great episode, one of the few episodes that Furuhashi able to get it right.
But they should have used fast paced version of Hucüm Marşı in this scene:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-LMIre-9m8
And they could have used this in Halil's death scene:

Even though, the manga version is better, I will stick to the anime for now, until finished, then the manga awaits me.

For BD sales, not surprised, I watched Kakegurui, Garo and I know the reason for MAPPA, but for Altair, it might not be interesting for common anime fans, I don't know, if we could replace all male characters with female badass, cool or cute characters, it would get more audience. By the way, I am not trying to mock any anime fan, just common sense. Well, if MAPPA gets money and floats from this project, it will work for their future projects.

And I like how the battle had progressed and concluded; there is no cheap tricks, no deus ex machina, just the winner who had prepared better all around. After all, you need both heroic and smart people in your army.

But you make a very good point. Even on MAL, the ranking of this is absurdly low. I'm certain that if it had a lot more kawaii female characters or some shounen badass one on one battles with lot of shouting and over the top conversations, it would be more popular than it is.

this episode was pretty shocking. Is turkiye ever gong to give the Empire a proper defeat that makes that detestable Imperial Prime minister loose his soup.

I feel like Halil Pasha failed, because he didn't think hard enough. If he honestly felt like the same strategy that he used before would work again, then he deserved to die...which he did. It's still sucks, since he was all about peace and generally a good guy, but his age and lack of insight really cost him here.

RIP Halil Pasha. He and his men were clearly outmatched, and they paid dearly for it. However, it looks like Mahmut has even more determination to win this war, so hopefully Halil Pasha's sacrifice won't be for nothing.

Screw that, though. If I want to watch mass-produced crap that appeals to a wider audience, there's an abundance of it. Nothing wrong with making an anime for a more focused audience as well. Though it isn't selling as well, Shōkoku no Altair is one of the series I look forward to each weekend, and I probably will buy the BD's when they come out. Anime like Blend S, Himouto Umaru-chan, and Black Clover are ones that I watch when I have nothing better. But I really look forward to this one, MahoYome, Kino no Tabi, 3-gatsu no Lion, Inuyashiki, and Houseki no Kuni because they are unique, not the same shit characters and crap story that make up 80% of the lineup every season.

I'm sure the studios realize that certain titles aren't going to sell as well as others. But they still decide to produce them anyway, usually with smaller budgets to minimize their losses, sort of in the same way that lawyers and other professionals do pro bono work: It's not always about making money. Sometimes you have to do something for other, better reasons. In this case, maybe it's to keep fans like me watching and enjoying anime (and therefore watching and potentially buying their other series too), or cynically speaking maybe it's to say "No, lawmakers, we aren't in the business of making sleaze. Just look at XYZ, which we recently made..." Whatever the reason, I think most studios would be cutting off their nose to spite their face if they stopped making niche anime entirely. Maybe not immediately, but at some point it would come back to bite them.

And Mahamut is in deep sorrow.
I think Halil Pasha's fall has a purpose: to let Mahamut get stronger and take revenge to all Balt-Rein empire!
And Zaganos would take a big part on it for sure!

the ranking of this anime is so low because people that read the manga knows how rushed this anime is and give low score,so much stuff skipped and the art of the manga is a whole different level, for me the manga is the best shounen ever 9/10 the anime isn't even 6/10.

Gonna have to start reading it right away then!

As far as I know that MAPPA does the sweat work, but there is an anime committee to provide the budget. In other words, every party in this great anime series will float; I mean, none of them will lose money, but they will not get a good profit. Relicensing the series, selling the rights to other countries and so on. But they don't think people like me, for example I prefer to buy Japanese BD sets without English subtitle, since after watching countless Japanese stuff, you will understand what is going on any Japanese medium, but the problem is every Japanese BD release contains 2-3 episodes, ok I don't complain. but they are expensive; can't they make them a little cheaper? Altair First BD is over 15000 yen, limited edition though. Damn.

Love, love, love every episode.

It is almost impossible for one to win a huge war without a huge loss. It's kinda ironic how my favorite American football team just lost a game after 9 win streaks. Everyone was saying that they would continue to win, but I'm glad they had a loss this time. Better now than in the playoffs. A loss is a chance to improve and remind oneself of yours and the other teams' capabilities. Just like this huge loss will help Mahmut. We all aim for the easiest/most peaceful way, but something has to be sacrificed or played around to get to the ending you seek.

As much has I love this show, the empires b.s. tactics piss me off. First they burn a stone city, then they conquer and insanely defendable city in a couple days, now they wipe out halil pasha. They had literally every vantage point. They started with high ground, the group that flanked had even higher ground. And not one person went, "huh, what're those siege engines they're setting Up? That seems a little odd. Oh well, fuck it".

Can't believe Halil is gone now, but i think watching them lose the battle is the only way to demonstrate Empire's true power and strength,
The only way for them to win now is if they build the machine that kid created.

Sad asf..

but it's bullshit. Can we stop cutting the scenes back to Louis daijin like he planned everything out 20 steps ahead when he's not even getting live feed from the battleground. It's the typical "I predicted that you would predict what I predicted that you would predict" bullcrap.

First off, sending an old man to the battlefield itself is calling for death, the story needed Halil to die and so he did, it didn't make much sense but they needed Halil to die so.. Empire's been employing these young muscular "saitama" dudes to fight their war and Torkiye couldn't have bought someone younger like Zaganos to the front line?

Second, I am tired of the Empire girls. Stop acting like a fkin "look my hair is on point again today" girl in a battlefield, it's annoying as hell. The red head, this crazy lipped girl, and the silver haired girl who lost her arm to Mahmut, I hate all of them. At the very least Turkiye doesn't have someone like that.. I hope not. Sausagefest gets pretty dry after a while but you can always introduce girls like Shara and the princess she's with, or the merchant girl we've been with. They're still useful and smart without being so annoyingly pretentious. I actually liked the red head quite a bit at first but she's like acting all high and mighty and she hasn't done shit in 20 episodes, aside from that easy infiltration of Phoenicia while the others get distracted by Empire's ship.

I like the story a lot but it's been getting on my skin recently. Need less "keikaku doori" Louis and more screentime for characters that actually fought the battle such as the bald meathead which we know almost nothing about even though he's been introduced for so many episodes now.

Man, that was brutal. Zaganos's point really does emphasize the stark contrast in how these two empires have prepared in the past 13 years. Halil wanted to use the aftermath of war to build a peaceful nation while the Balt-Rhein Empire spent its peacetime preparing for war. It feels like we're right back at square one of the first episode - that war is going to be inevitable and Mahmut can do nothing to prevent it.
