| Asta is yelling way too much and the worst part is how the VA keeps it unnecessarily long like BAKA turns into BAKAAAAAA, the ova handled it better. Other than that it was an good first ep. |

It's gonna take some time for me to get used to Asta's VA, I keep imagining his voice to be different that what it actually is, I feel like something like Hinata's voice from Haikyuu would work much better for him. | I didn't hate this episode. The animation and art quality was super inconsistent. In fact, Asta's voice was the only consistency. I'll watch two more episodes maybe. I already gave the manga a generous 7/10 on my list. The best this show can get from me is a 6/10. |

| Not a bad first episode, I only read one chapter of the manga almost 2 years ago and from what I recall it was pretty much the same. I never got into it enough to get further than the first chapter but I'm pretty interested in seeing it as an anime instead. Asta's voice is on some other shit, but I think it suits him well and I'm sure I'll get used to it. |

| It was fine but nothing that particularly stands out from the classic shounen pattern so far. Asta's voice is so annoying because he screams all the time. This literally made me angry during the first 2 mins. I just wanted to clog my ears. I don't think it's a good idea for him to shout like an idiot all the time. It really hinders my enjoyment because this happens every time he opens his mouth. I mean Naruto was pretty much the yelling type too but he didn't sound like a dying parrot |

| What in the name of God were they thinking with Asta's voice? possibly the most nails on a chalkboard sounds I have ever heard in my entire life and also the CGI for the chain guy was hilariously bad like I have seen better CGI from shit 15+ years ago. Bad first Impression, very bad first episode. |

| I was honestly trying to dismiss my critical thinking for this series since I knew I was getting into a shounen series that's in the mainstream or...a rising star in the mainstream audience but my god within the first 5 minutes I was hating it but I struggled through and wasted 23 minutes and 40 seconds of my life that I will never get back. The only good things about this that I could note are the animation during fight sequences and music but that's it. Other than that...this was just a complete waste of time because the words "generic" and "stereotypical" cannot begin to describe this show. I'm not even sure I can do the 3 episode rule. I'm just gonna stick to My Hero Academia being my only shounen series. |

| My ears were bleeding from the MC's shouting all the freaking time. Seems really cliche. I'll give it till episode 5 and if it's not getting any better, I'm dropping. It seems really uninteresting. (Staying only for Yuno). Feels like another Fairy Tail in my opinion, it's just got that feeling. It's hard to describe lol. |

| Asta's voice is one of the most grating things I've heard in a long time. I hope that changes soon. The dynamic seems pretty cool... reminds me a bit of Ao no Exorcist. Demon grimoire CGI was awful... I thought CGI was meant to enhance animation. |
| I loved that Asta guy's shenanigans. Lmao. He's so funny. Jeez. Meanwhile, his childhood friend or brother-like Yuno is so serious and handsome, and can use magic and he's great at it unlike Asta. And Yuno was chosen by a four-leaf clover grimoire which is significant apparently since it chose the first Wizard King or something, and suddenly Asta who can't use magic at all throughout his life was chosen by a five-leaf clover grimore where a demon resides and he can now use magic. That was ridiculously fast. Lmao. Good first episode, though. P.S. With Asta's persona, I reckon Hiroshi Kamiya will be a better seiyuu of his. Asta's shenanigans kinda reminds me of Yato from Noragami. And I bet Asta screaming when it's Hiroshi Kamiya will sound great, and not unbearable and annoying. I mean listen to Yato's screaming; that was hilarious! With Asta screaming, it's honestly unbearable. Idk. I just though he deserves a better seiyuu. Apparently, Asta's seiyuu is a beginner (the hate on his profile, maaan, what the fuck). Lmao. Heck, I might get used to it later. Let's give him a chance, folks. |

| Not a fan of the MC. Everything seemed a bit cliche, almost predictable. We all love a good under dog story but this seems like it was just being that because it had to (being a shonen and all). His struggles are real but I felt they played down the emotion with too much with "humor." Just one example: when everyone was getting their books, Asta's reaction was comedic, where it should have been more heartbreaking (imo). It was an ok first episode, I hope it gets better. |

| MC is stupider than the average shounen MC, he is also WAYY annoying. His best "friend" is an ass, even if the show wanted us to think so, and he was "redeemed" in the last minutes of the ep. Crappy info dumps all over the episode made me giggle several times. The premise is great, but this show falls into a lot of shounen pitfalls and cliches. I'm hoping it gets better, because the animation and premise look promising. 3/5 |

| lool the chain cgi's were pretty much crap in some parts as if the extruding out of the other chains various. and pls astas voice actor was super annoying every sentence sounds the same emotions even thought he is proposing, announcing his rivalry or he is mad because of his fate or just training. Was the voice over team overseer just sleeping or didn't he care for at least some quality. For the rest it was decent but only mediocore for todays standards. i hope they only keep this on for this season and then start over in 2 or three years (like HxH) |

| I never knew an annoying MC voice could ruin so much for me. I liked pretty much everything about the episode.. Except the screaming of the MC. He should really try to clear his voice before screaming.. damn. He is probably supposed to be an annoying character. But the same goes for Natsu from Fairy Tail and he pulled it off easily. I love Yuno's voice though. And the grimoire master, lol. |

| God, that was just as mediocre and generic as everyone says it was. And jesus do I even have to mention Asta? Hes the most annoying shonen protagonist I've ever seen and his horrible voice dosen't help it either. I hope to god the dub makes him a bit more bearable. |

Agreed, I was actually chatting to some of my friends on my Instagram as they were watching my story. They thought that Murase Ayumu would of been a good choice as well. They were all super disappointing because now they have to read the manga with that voice in their heads. To be honest, I'm more sorry for the manga readers that now have to read with that voice for the rest of the time. I believed having a new voice actor was going to be terrible for having a main role in such a big hyped up series. But it's putting off the manga for me since everyone else has read it in my social group. I thought Ayumu would have been great the first time I saw Asta back when I was searching through shounen manga, and then I read about his personality and all I could really see was him as a white-haired Hinata. So even though I don't read the manga and I didn't expect much from this series in the first place, I was still extremely disappointed with how Asta sounded. I understand that it is the seiyuu's first role but I really don't think it was a good choice. |

| I have to agree with the criticism towards MC voice. It is the first time when I see voice acting as such a flaw in anime. Wonder how it will develop. Also, GangsterCat said: why is everyone pissed at Asta's VA lol his voice really fit him I can agree with that, he is genki and stuff, but it is not pleasant to listen at all. Apart from that, it seems like a typical shounen anime. I think everyone knew that Asta will get some superpower, this it how it rolls. I have to admit it makes me curious how the plot will develop after Chain-kun gets defeated by angry, maybe a bit out of control Asta. Attitude of Yuno annoyed me through the whole episode. How serious are they about that rivarly stuff? What is exactly that King and how you become one? I will follow the series. It will not be an outstanding anime, but I think we will find some entertainment. Is number of episodes known? |

Although I love Hiroshi's voice too and it's always a blessing to hear, even with his versatility in his pitch, I don't think his rich, deep voice would have matched Asta's character. For characters such as Yato that you used as a comparison, Yato is an adult who has childish quirks, so his deep voice works for the character's age and appearance and he can use a more silly high voice for the comedic effects of Yato's personality. However, Asta is a 15 year old boy who's whole personality (so far) is that of a immature, energetic, obnoxious child. So an energising and bouncy voice would compliment and bring out this personality more. |
