No complaints about the romance, no complaints about the action, HUGEEEE complaints about the ending. I mean, that's it? For an anime title centered around the character, they sure taketh quickly. Ugh. |

Exactly... , I had no idea what happened there. The subs in gogoanime was awful as well. Mayuri said that to destroy Canavaera, it had to be attacked while its spirit energy was disrupted (we saw how it began regenerating right after being cut by Tohka), so I'm assuming that the kiss was a "disruption". My question though, is, Kurumi at the end says "Now you owe me another one, Shido", but what did she do in all of that? During the final fight, I was certain Kurumi would come in to save the day, but we didn't really see that... |

What did Kurumi do exactly? There should better be an explanation in the next season or ova. |

Ah, Date a Live. It's been a while. Brings back good memories, so it was definitely nice to watch this movie. The movie itself was pretty solid and I enjoyed it. The subtitles were godawful though, but whatever. It was great to see them all again and Mayuri. They sure went all out during the action. Nice. Too bad there wasn't enough Kurumi ): Wished the movie was a bit longer to flesh out Mayuri's character some more. 8/10. Another season when? |

I waited ages for this, and finally got to watch it yesterday. The subs were decent, thankfully the parts where they were lacking were easy to translate. Loved the individual dates. Really didn't expect Yoshino and Tohka's dates, but then again, it suits their characters. Moar Kurumi plz... thankfully I found out from this forum. What she meant at the end was she basically stopped the cannon from wrecking Shido to pieces lol. You can see the ball turn dark red (symbol of Kurumi's attack). Really disappointed in the Mayuri screen time. Whole movie is supposed to be about her but lacks the main character of the movie. And the end was just SAD. For those saying that she just met Shido and no point in crying over her, YOU'RE WRONG. What is Mayuri? How was she born? She is basically an incarnation of all the other girls' emotions. She loves Shido because all the other girls do. Shido loves her because he loves the other girls. It is interesting to note, though, that Mayuri has her own nature/character traits, even though she's a mixture of all the other girls, which makes it even more sad DX Still not 100% sure what her purpose was. Was it to bring "balance to the force?" Really hope she comes back, in some way, shape, or form. There's 5 extra seconds of screen at the end?! Must search for movie upload that actually has that! Do want season 3, as there are SO many unanswered questions from the past seasons. |

I must confess, that I wasn't really a big fan of TDaL...but after seeing both season now, and just now the movie...I'm falling for this anime! Me, as a huge Highschool DxD fan, wasn't expecting finding something comparable to it. But although this thread is about the movie, I almost mostly enjoyed the OVA! Damn that Kurumi could get a wild story! |

I actually really enjoyed this movie. It was nice seeing each of the girls get to have their moment with Shido. Too bad Kurumi didn't get to have a date though. And it's kind of a bummer Mayuri didn't get to stick around at the end. Still a fun movie overall in my opinion, and I really hope to see a season 3 down the road. |

recently watch it, i gotta say it's a very good sequel, i really like how shido date each one of them but TBH, i really want to see more screen time on Mayuri, her character design are adorable, i also like her attitude, it's kinda sad what happen to her in the last part though :( Good adaptation, i give it 8/10, hoping for season 3 :D |

I just watched the series on TV for the first time a little over a month ago, so I was really excited for the movie, especially considering I'd heard it was much closer to the quality of the first season than the disappointment that was the 2nd season. And it lived up to expectations. The dates were really enjoyable for the most part, especially Miku's; I forgot how cute Shido is as a girl. I was kind of disappointed Tohka took all those notes, only to to decide on an "eat everything in site" date (I've always wondered if Ratatoskr gives him money to take all these Spirits on dates). Mayuri had a nice design but, like most people here, I was disappointed by the lack of screen time for her and the weak explanation for what was going on with the story. I don't believe it was ever explained why only Shido and Kurumi could see that giant sphere in the sky. Speaking of Kurumi, you'd think they'd give Best Girl more screen time in a filler movie but, sadly, that wasn't the case. Also, Origami's brief moments were actually pretty funny. The action was pretty good and I liked the design of her new Astral Dress. As with most Date a Live fights, I wish it had gone on a little longer and had more happening, but it was still pretty solid. Love the use of season 1's OP and the animation was good. All the girls getting a magical girl transformation was nice. Overall, still inferior to season 1 but much better than season 2. 7/10. |

Movie original, it's fine. IF it was well done... Sadly not. Personally this was disappointing. the dates were nice and funny, but it didn't reveal more or develop the characters anymore than what we already have. It also played little in the ultimate climax and plot. Mayuri supposedly the new character only had these small cameo until the end which she did little to anything. She should be in the spotlight since she's the new spirit. NOPE. She had a cute character design though, sadly wasn't put to good use. Origami scene was funny but generally out of place. Kurumi also didn't do much yet they included her to satisfy the fans. She appeared to say stuff but does nothing in reality. I also doubt she would help him figure out the mystery to begin with. Though it makes sense to time-pausing the blast since she needs him alive. The thing about being made from the spirit's energy and invisible ball and stuff is cheesy, makes little sense and was not explained well enough. Why only Shido and Kurumi could be see her and the ball is never explained. Mana's condition was not explained. And Mayuri being created to do what? judge? What's her purpose? It was pretty cheesy. Yes DaL always have these moments but they are meant to be funny and made fun at. That's the author's purpose. But the movie was serious about it and even had it as or tried to make it a major plot point. Personally, the novels are great. 1st season was also great. 2nd season was ok.. And the movie is... to be blunt pretty bad. |

Enough to have understood the gist of Mayuri Judgement? Probably. Doesn't seem exceptionally tough. Might have been some words here and there, but if you properly dedicated yourself to it, it'd be possible. Using an Anki deck, you'd be able to get to 4000 words in that time just doing an hour or so a day (20 new words plus reviews of old words). Doing an hour or so of other studying (grammar, listening, etc) on top of that, and some practice with manga, you'd be able to give it a decent shot. I'm at around 2000 words and I mostly got what was going on for the first part. So yeah, it'd definitely be possible. Just difficult. :P |

Fortunately, hiragana (phonetics for native words) and katakana (phonetics for foreign words) aren't very difficult for the most part. Once you've got those down, you'd just need to know vocabulary to be able to read some manga, since they have what is called furigana (which are basically hiragana above the kanji). Date A Live has furigana, for example. Some don't have them though, so you'd need to learn the kanji for those. I'm hoping to read some untranslated visual novels one day, so I'm working on the kanji. But vocabulary is probably the best thing to start with - it's a lot easier to learn a kanji if you already know the reading that corresponds to a certain meaning. |

So there are mixed feelings about the movie which makes sense, i loved it but it felt more like a regular episode instead of a movie. Maybe thats what they were going for, trying to tease us so we want more, which we do. Maybe more Mayuri, like she comes back in a second movie. I think the Date a Live franchise is doing good and the movie was pretty good in Japan, Overall people like it and so i do. Date a Live is really amazing and we want more. So, what are the chances of season 3, I'd like to say it could happen, your thoughts? |

Romaji are the English equivalent of the hiragana. The hiragana and katakana are phonetic alphabets, much like our own latin one. Kanji are the ones that correspond to individual words, but you need to know hiragana and katakana first since kanji are pronounced as combinations of hiragana, and katakana are used to write words inherited from other languages. Also, hiragana are used in conjugation. |

The first half with the dates was good, but the Mayuri part not so much, dude almost shed tears of blood for the girl although he just met her like 15 minutes ago, all and all, it could have been better, more Mayuri screen time would have been good |

LET ME TELL EVERYONE THREE IMPORTANT THINGS 1)Does anyone here have any slightest idea that this movie is an original work ?(Original work= has nothing to do with the original manga or light novels) damn it that's why she has to disappear as they can't put her in 3rd season as she doesn't even exist in whole date A Live saga ! 2)The budget was very low so don't expect anything more from this the actual date a live anime didn't had a event that can be adapted into movie. 3)Original work + no event to adapt from manga into movie + low budget = Mayuri Judgement (learn doing maths :) |

Kind of disappointed actually. Generic dates for almost the majority of the movie. Mayuri's development was so shallow(Could have given her more scene). I mean the title of the movie was named after her. And she only got few scenes... really sad about that. |

pakyu said: why kurumi holding her gun after mayuri vanished Because earlier when Shido attacked Kerubiel, it was ready to shoot the beam head on which supposedly would kill him, if you notice at that moment the beam turned red and stopped and the characteristic sound when Kurumi uses her abilities played. So she did that thing where she shoots her head to stop time which allowed Tohka to catch up , that's why she also said "you owe me again" before she disappeared. |

Nothing special. Would love to see Mayuri stay but I believe this movie is filler so I guess it's expected she will gone. Not enough Kurumi though. |
But it's important to remember that a movie review is subjective;it only gives you one person's opinion. http://www.classzone.com/books/lnetwork_gr08/page_build.cfm?content=analyz_media&ch=30 It doesn't matter if you like LoGH,Monster etc.If you are a jobless or college/school dropout living in your mom basement, you are still an unintelligent loser. sigh... Did like the parts to the end of tohka's date, really sweet and adorable too see where on have there chance, But wha about kurumi xD(oh yech she got an date episode last time...) either way, didnt feel this as a movie but just as a LOOOOOOOONG big OVA/side Episode, was played out after season 2 but still, (serious about wanting me season 3 tho!!!!!!) it was a great episode, felt there was to much sadness/drama for shido being like that over mayuri.. just a little to much went to quick. and im not the one who bothers about that stuff. but this one did. little to much i felt they just added stuff in.. n kind of got me sigh about this "movie" Either way nice ending nothing big nothing flashy, still got some more we might get ideas for a season 3? or am i wrong xD ? Overall i give a 8.3/10 (8/10) cause it didnt suck,n i feel nice tonight.. but it had issues.. too bad Mayuri can stay longer.. love her design n all. Kawaii!!!! |

I like the first half a lot. Those date scenes. brings back memories...XD it's entertaining to watch too xD but the second half...when Mayuri appear, the character interaction happened between Shidou and Mayuri and their character development. tbh, that part, dissapointed me a lot. cause it was too rushed. well, i kinda felt the emotional feelings in the atmosphere but still, the character development was so rushed. first half, i enjoyed it a lot but the second half got me dissapointed even tho i enjoyed it a bit, especially the action. it has a great action animation imo xD and one more thing which got me dissapointed, it's the animation. this is a movie, isn't it ? then why the animation was still the same like in the series ? well, the action was different, but the other animation than the action, was still the same. what's the meaning of that. it's a movie. they have plenty of times to make it. so why....i don't know why but the animation dissapointed me. overall, i still enjoyed this series. really happy to see date a live again from a long time xD i'm happy to see those characters again, especially the dates xD really entertaining too even tho i got dissapointed in some parts. kinda wish date a live will be getting another season tho....(i hope) 8/10 |

Kerubiel is an angel spawned from the same subconsious emotion of all six girls Shido has already sealed by then: jealousy toward each others. Kerubiel is made of the energy they also subconsiousy released because of their jealousy. To have its energy peacefully go back to the "energy control system" shido and the girls are, shido must date every of them to confort them in showing no favoritism toward one or the other. Save that to monitor the process Kerubiel need an interface to understand human feelings and circonstances, so he creates one by creating Mayuri who has a real and complex personality. Beside the fact she is pure energy and do not really have a body like the other girls she is as real as them. And that's the problem, Shido is deemed unfair by Kerubiel because he forget to show affection to one of the spriits who get very jealous because of it: Mayuri herself. So Kerubiel goes berserk on Shido, trying to "punish" him for his perceived unfairness, and the only way to stop it is to seal Mayuri as any other spirit. But Mayuri is pure energy, she has no body, she has no anchor for her personality in their world without energy, so sealing her litteraly kills her off as the energy she is made of is sent back to the Shido/Spirits system it originates from. And the authors could not keep Mayuri because Kerubiel created her personality from all the standard spirits, she is all of them in only one person: she is a game breaker, if Shido had to chose anyone of them it would easily be Mayuri, she is all of them; whatever shido like in the spirits, she has it all without the burden to balance all these people. Or more simply: Mayuri Best Girl by Word of God and because the Story ask for it, the authors cannot have that so they kill her off. Kind of too bad really, it would have been fun to see that much of a ruckus. But I guess, Dosh is the problem. |

And the authors could not keep Mayuri because Kerubiel created her personality from all the standard spirits, she is all of them in only one person: she is a game breaker, if Shido had to chose anyone of them it would easily be Mayuri, she is all of them; whatever shido like in the spirits, she has it all without the burden to deal with all these people. Or more simply: Mayuri Best Girl by Word of God and because the Story ask for it, the authors cannot have that so they kill her off. Kind of too bad really, it would have been fun to see that much of a ruckus. But I guess, Dosh is the problem. Ah, I see! Thanks for the explaination. I watched it in a bit of a rush so I wasn't able to catch all the details. |

Oh, one last thing, some kind of "Fridge" thing as they say on tvtrope. By kissing her Shido is the one who killed his perfect-feels-girl, and he realize that right after doing it when it's already too late to do anything about that. No surprise Tohka was asking him if he was feeling better at the end of the movie. |

LMAO at Kawagoe's story. Yes! Kaguya goes first! Yoshino is too cute. Keep the cuteness coming. KAGUYA IS SLAYING THAT OUTFIT! MIKU IS SLAYING THAT OUTFIT! Shiori returns! Ai so fine. Pizza Hut. Hiroto is suspect now. lol Pretty sure putting on/taking off the wig doesn't change Shido's voice. Yoshino is so cute sitting next to Shido. Holy shit. Kaguya. FAPFAPFAPFAPFAPFAPFAP Focking steam preventing me from seeing that Yuzuru booty. Origami really Tobiichi. Gyaru appearing in the crib now. Kurumi goodness is here. lol at Tohka throwing away the mirror. Of course they return to the fated place. Gyaru is here and reveals her true form, which involves self-dress break. Of course trouble starts at the fated place. OMG! They played the first OP. Pretty sure Shido is One Slice Man. Tohka is badass in that form. DAT KISS! Gyaru disappears. :( Don't run from the harem Shido. Good ED song by sweet ARMS. Hoping for Season 3. DAL is just too good. |

If you see that my post is exactly 1 month old (or more) from when it was posted... Don't waste your time, especially when you want to reply with something petty & insignificant. Assume that I've moved on (because I have). |

Instead, she plans a date that actually reflects her. ie, with a huge variety of food.-snip- I was kind of disappointed Tohka took all those notes, only to to decide on an "eat everything in site" date (I've always wondered if Ratatoskr gives him money to take all these Spirits on dates). hlubkoj2020 said: Just a guess, but Kurumi isn't sealed like the other six spirits, and the powers of the other six spirits "sort of" reside with Shido (although his ability to use any of them is very restricted; it seems he can summon Tohka's sword, but not much else).Still wonder, why can Kurumi see Mayuri and that big sphere, but other spirits can't. Really nice calming background music for Kotori's and Yoshino's dates. ^^ ED by sweet ARMS is as good or maybe even better than usual. Can't have Date A Live anime without them. ^^ As much as I'd like to see Origami's arc animated, I'm not getting my hopes up too high. =[ Good thing I grabbed a copy of the translation while I could, although I'm not sure about the quality of the translation. |

Also... the lyrics for the ED seem like they're written from Mayuri's point of view. O.O? |

The movie was amazing. As usual, Shido's relationships with the girls are a major positive. Even Kotori and Mana got their chance to shine. Unfortunately, Origami was sidelined and the movie could have benefitted from her presence. As for Mayuri; she was an interesting character. Sora Amamiya didn't fully bring out her skills, but I'd say she did the best with what she's got. I want to see more of her in the future, possibly in a third season should the show ever got one. |
