Here it is people. Comment on the thread over at AN. I know that people have things to say, and there are less restrictions on what can be said here than over there, so go for it. Edit- I hope you can edit topic titles here. |

I quit, that was a total disgrace. I went along with it to help observer, since he clearly has troubles running a tournament properly, but that was the last straw. He'll blame to move, I'm sure, but it was his own stupidity that caused this mess. Hajime, I task you with cheering for CCS for me from now online...unless you're voting for Kenshin. |

I'm voting for CCS all the way, so I'll hold the fort down for you. If Ippo loses then it's definitely due to the re-count(gotta love those things). At least it was valid up until the top 4. I think being top 4 out of 500 something anime is a decent finish, even if it was just a petty popularity contest. Also, plz dun ban me Videl if you happen to see this. I figure it's a good idea to take some flak from that forum with this one. |

I never cared much for that thing. When Big O lost, I started losing interest (seriously, Big O is a fantastic show). That said, observer wouldn't know how to run a tournament if Sushi SHOWED him how. And Sushi knows. He learned all he knows from me, after--oh wait, never mind. |

Well its just a thread to pass the time i guess, but its not something you could take seriously. I mean how could you, when three people who are on more than me (i didnt think possible) can just vote and shut out...despite 40 other votes for the show immediately after. I mean, its crazy. What was weird was despite not wanting to give a crap i still wanted to vote for my favorite shows, cause i felt like they were getting robbed. Didn't make much logical sense but couldn't escape the feeling :P Some of those votes were so absurd lol We should just ditch the group comments and use this thing :P Edit posts FTW (well maybe not, most people will just want to leave a quick note) |

I don't really care much about the finals at this point, but as the person responsible for starting that whole mess, I feel quite obligated to post. Just to let you know, I had no intention of Kenshin even going as far as beating Ippo, even on the absolute worst technicality imaginable. I simply felt the thread in question was in danger of getting prematurely locked due to the constant complaints of it being rightfully moved (even by the OP himself after I hijacked it). But as the hijacker and the cause of Ippo's loss, I'd imagine my guilt over such an extreme upset worthy of the 2000 election just might outweigh everyone else's distraught. It was also for partly that reason why I deleted my similar Bleach thread from AN after seeing such overwhelming anger. But as I still have the matches made in a text file, I just might repost it right here pending approval. |

Can we just chat in our club forum? I know that in the other forums it would be considered spam, but I can't see the actual moderators/admins of this site checking every thread in every club. I'm fine with the comment section in the club page now that I figured out how to use italics and bold, but you can use either one as far as I'm concerned. |

It was observer that dropped the ball here, big time. I've said it before, Kenshin could've won, and I wouldn't have minded. It was the manner in which it managed to win that I minded. I've said I'm done voting, but god forbid it comes down to one vote between AIR and CCS (Nobody is voting for Kenshin, I love it way too much), I'll probably have to make it. |

I defended your action in the thread and I'll it again here. In the end you preserved the thread. Perhaps not by the best means, but oh well. It was either start now or the thread gets locked and we all lose. Besides, it's the nature of the tournament that caused Ippo to lose. The people who would have voted for it weren't there, just like it's always been. In this case they thought they already voted for it, and they did, so it's on Observer80. Whereas you preserved the thread by doing what you did, Observer80 just threw a tantrum. There was no need to restart the voting process. He is the one to blame here, not you. It was also for partly that reason why I deleted my similar Bleach thread from AN after seeing such overwhelming anger. But as I still have the matches made in a text file, I just might repost it right here pending approval. Approval from, like...me? If you mean Westlo, Vega or me, then there's no need to ask for approval, for anything. Just go for it. Edit- I should say, that's just where I stand. I didn't think for a second that Westlo or Vega would care at all, so it slipped my mind to mention that. Still, I can't see them having a problem with it at all. |

Well it was fun while it lasted. I never did take it seriously, especially with the way the votes were counted. I understand why observer did what he did, since he had so many shows in the tournament and it would take forever to get through it all if he had set time limits for every round, but there's no denying that it caused problems, especially in the earlier rounds when less votes were needed. It was just fun cheering for your favorite shows and seeing who would ultimately come out on top at the end, though I personally lost interest after both Evangelion AND Gunbuster lost in the same day (also that's when the trouble began, when people were voting based on manga, and observer did nothing to stop it). The contest died after they moved the thread. That really was a stupid move, no matter the logic. The thread had been there for days and it was doing no one any harm. But ultimately it was observer's bad decisions which killed it. He should have just went with the flow instead of restarting the round. But in the end it doesn't matter, After they moved it to PBG, the thread was gonna get less votes anyway, so the final rounds would have been screwed since they needed so many votes. Oh well. |

I don't see a need to start another one. The structure of the AN one could have been better. I'm also not too sure if the creator knew to count very well either lol. But that said, it was fun while it lasted. No need for any of the drama. The result would be very similar so a new one wouldn't be very exciting. |

Please, please, do not do what he did, for the duration he did. If he was still here I'd kick him out right now. If Waga was here, he'd be gone too. None of that crap, once again, please. I don't have a problem with taking shots at each other, but if the interweb itself implodes all over your ass, it's time to admit defeat and move on. So, none of that stuff. You don't have to play nice, I mean look who's talking here, but if it's a chronic issue, that's when it's gone too far. |

I didn't care at first about the contest but after it was up for a week myself and im sure others started to really enjoy all the drama surrounding there favorite show and if they had what it takes to win. Its wasn't that serous and it was only for bragging rights but we all got some fun out of it so when they decided to move it on the day of the finials it felt like a slap in the face. Letting a contest go on for so long only to mess it up on the day of the finals seems petty to me but i reckon the mods simply didn't care about the thread and made no effort to do so. The only off topic posts in that thread came from them lol. |

I like the 'what show have you watched today' threads a lot, when people don't just post the name of 1 title without saying anything like that one guy does constantly. I like when people take the opportunity to say a few words about what they watched, its fun to see what other people thought of something and how it compares to what you think. I was real happy when other people started writing like full reviews of series in the completed thread...it started out as big lists but then turned into my best resource on what to watch...i use those 2 threads more than i do wiki these days to research a show (i guess i value the opinions of a lot of an members more anyway). |

I fully agree. When I started the "What anime have you watched today" thread I hoped that it would become what it is today. At the time we already had some like it, but they were just lame one liners since you can't really comment on stuff you just downloaded. Some people still don't write anything beyond the title and ep numbers, but most of the active members put a lot of thought into it these days. It's a great thread to find new stuff and carry on many mini conversations. It was sad to see the old one go since I would have saved a few posts if given the chance, but it's back in action and that's all that matters. The "just completed" thread has improved a lot too since we're getting quality reviews rather then useless names on their own. As for posts counts... I await the day they chuck it for good. On a forum it's understood if you're a good member or not. I barely ever look at post counts unless someone points it out. I've lost so many over the years that I can't be bothered with it. Quality over quantity. |

Truth be told I ignored that thread at first because all I saw was people listing what they watched. I personally like to discuss what I've seen and read the same from others, especially members who share similar tastes. I've been doing this sort of thing on AnimeOnDVD forums since... April/May I think. http://www.animeondvd.com/forum/showpost.php?pid/617566/ Everyone who posts in those currently watching threads posts at least a few lines of impressions, same for the ANN thread like that. Those threads lead to some great disucssion sometimes, I remember during my weekly post for when Bacanno 6 came out I pretty much said. "Why the fuck is noone watching this?" and the next 20 posts where all about Baccano. As for post counts, the Suki approach is the best I think, hide them on forums but show them on profiles. I personally like to know how much time I've wasted on various forums :p |

No peeps,i was talking for people that post in the:'what anime you plan to watch next' thread writing episodes, not titles, and half an hour after they post it also in 'what anime have you watched today' thread and continuining:p I always thought i needed to write anime title in 'plan to watch' thread,if i wrote episodes i would write 5 times a day,its normal eh? :p I dont have problems with the threads. The thread about the last series you completed is my favorite too,you can see a lot of opinions there,if the person bothers to write some more lines :D |

The the what episodes have you watch thread i tend to just post a few lines per episode or sometimes none at all. I figure if enough people post the same show then the must be something special about it. I go into more detail in the what anime have you last finished thread as in there i can post whatever i want looking back at the series as a whole. Some shows need that like Lucky star which started off boring but had so much too it after the slow start. |

First post since joining this club. I just thought I'd gather some feedback on my traitorous advantage I gave towards Kenshin's win. :P Seriously now, here's what I think about that little thread: 1) The move was a dumb move. Yes, it was a game, but there is such a thing called "tact" and it applies to the timing of the move. 2) While Observer's methods for the nomination of "best" titles were questionable, I can't think of a better one. Others would be too long for a thread of that size. I'm personaly impressed he even stuck out with it to the end. Talk about dedication (or no life, but that's relative :P ). 3) I believe Hajime no Ippo deserved the top spot over Kenshin, but Kenshin rightfully defeats Hajime no Ippo. That brings in one of the... particularities of such contests. Some titles are all-around strong, but others defeat in other respects. Just like you can't really compare a title like CCS or GitS. Both have merit, so which is better? It's entirely subjective, so even if the champion title has very strong support, it isn't necessarily the best title there ever was. But I'm sure that's obvious. So the best anime is whatever you make it to be. 4) Sakuramina wins... can you get more win? We indeed got a champion and it trancended all genres and cultures. We now need a smilie that explodes out of sheer awesome. |

It's entirely subjective, so even if the champion title has very strong support, it isn't necessarily the best title there ever was. But I'm sure that's obvious. I think it's quite easy to compare anime across different genres. As long as you don't do anything stupid like "Anime A has element X(say, comedy) but Anime B does not therefore anime A is better." Just put the genres aside for a second and look at an anime's actual elements, then judge based on execution. That's how I do it anyway. Something like the amount of character development a particular character receives can be objectively measured by simply pointing out a specific scene in a specific episode and stating what new information was brought to our attention, or what changed. There might be some conflicts over what constitutes character development, but even then you can simply make a note of that difference and move on, if you don't want to try to hammer it out. That's just one example, but I'm eating right now and it took forever to just write that much, so I'll either edit this and put more later, or just leave it as it is if you understood what I was getting at. Edit- I forgot to say that by fully explaining your reasoning with scenes from the anime, you should be able to fully understand each other, even if there is some kind of discrepancy. |

Well it is different for each person involved, but that is why you vote from multiple people cause whatever the reasoning from those people might be, they still choose one over another (im talking about in general, THAT contest was something else entirely...). Even if some people are voting for the 'wrong' reason its gonna be balanced by those who vote for the 'right' reasons etc. Of course since that is all it is, a vote by a bunch of people, you take it for what it is. Is the winner really better than all the other shows just cause the majority of the voters thought so? Of course not. But its still fun. |
