Lol Kuon has some cute relationships with others. The episode was kinda funny and I'm glad to see the big bird back this week. That tiger seems to get along with it as well. And return of the baths. I swear, this show has an obsession with them lmao.

Lol more BL references and silly artwork. Kuon's sisters are so childish lol

Was really nice to see Aruruu and Kamyu again....Their personalities hasn't changed one bit xD

Loved their interactions with Kuon too because it's exactly how I imagined it would be considering their relation to a certain someone in S1 and what Kuon said about them when they left brought tears to my eyes :''')

Interesting how they came to form an alliance though considering that I kind of thought that the two counties will be at odds will one another

EDIT: How could I forget to mention the best anime pet ever - Mukkuru and his interactions with Lion's pet Bird thing....That scene with the food was too cute and I just fucking missed that tiger to death

Those who have seen the first series will have a bit of nostalgia here with a few familiar faces. Besides that a pretty typical episode.

Another BL crap ... ffs

Good to see Aruru again :)

Better episode than week ago, maybe because of hot springs bath :P
Trolls are miserable and that's why they troll. They wish to make other people miserable so that they can feel better about themselves. They are also reaching out for the attention that they don't get in the physical world.

I don't know about game, but it seems that this show is targeted for a totally different audience than the first season. It just felt so generic, even recurring characters like Aruru and Kamyu lost their personalities. Also it looks like story progress can be spotted only in after credits scenes.

No. It was mentioned a couple of times already. Because second game is much shorter they have much slower pace here. There will be a lot of action in the second part.

Omg Aruru perfect. I love that kid.

But okay I'm ready for things to blow up now. Last episode doesn't count. Or if nothing blows up then at least show us the greater plot. Is there gonna be a war between Yamato and Tusukuru or something???

Also tiger and bird making friends<3 Mukuru I missed you!

Poor Haku, they really need to ease off of his wallet.

Aruru hasn't really aged that much in these 15 or so years. I wanted to see a hot older version :( But I love her cuteness so I don't mind. All Dat smug tho XD

Very strong episode. Love the build up towards the main plot and more of kuon's backstory.

Also return of Aruru and Kamyu. How I missed you two. And Aruru is looking fine indeed.

That IS her older version.

Young ARuru was half the height of kuon, lol. Its just that people in this verse age slower.

On other hand you can already see a shitload of foreshadowing everywhere :)

Not really. First season had as many of this stuff but the anime adaptation was incredibly rushed and most of it was cut(some of it was adapted as OVAs)

This game is shorter(since its part one) and does ont start during a huge uprising/war, so the pacing is more even and the calm peace parts are not cut

Good to see some old characters once again, but it wasn't as good as when Touka and Karura appeared, not least because Kamyu and Aruru becoming ridiculously overbearing is not a development I'm happy about. Also, what was with that tension between the Princess and Kamyu and Aruru? I can't be the only one who felt that, right?

Also, I can already tell from the preview that I'm not going to enjoy next week's episode very much at all.

Yay! After an episode in hiatus the bath scene returns in Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Onsen!

Any ambiguity regarding Kuon's biological mother has been taken care of with the emergence of such doting family members. I was expecting the Smexy Sawashiro voice but this is alright as well. Somehow I am happy that Aruruu didn't change much.

Yeah i start to feel the same. I friggin loved season one but season two has no story at all so far. The only thing this anime share with season 1 is the name, and that is all that keeps me watching.

In Utawarerumono S1 they got way more action and plot in the first 3-5 episodes than in the whole 9 episodes of season 2 and i guess there will be no plot / action at all in the next few episodes either.

Some people said that this anime takes his time to "build up some plot" but i don't see this at all, all i'm seeing is that they introduce more and more charakters (some times just to keep the old fans watching like in this episode) without really showing them ever again.

As much as i wanted to believe cookingpriest. So far i see only a random episode for episode show without connection to the other episodes at all (what the hell is with that old guy from the last episode? They didn't even explain that! Am i watching haraui suzumya shit right now where i can watch the anime in 3 different orders?)

There's another game coming, my guess is the story fitted well enough into a single game but they wanted to take their time or make it longer for whatever reason and found themselves with 30 hours extra and nothing to do with them and these sections happened to fill space, just fluffing around doing nothing, and in the anime they simply threw something at the end of the episodes so fans could defend them somehow...

I'm just going to say be fucking patient, we have 16 episodes to go, and the game was actually praised So, there are no worries in the story/plot part of the game. If you don't want to wait, then just drop this now or simply keep it on hold until it finishes. This has been said many times but, Uta 1's anime was badly rushed.

Also You're either blind or lack the ability to notice subtle things happening in the backgrounds without the anime shoving it in your face.
They're not trying to build something linear that is instantly noticeable, but like setting up dominoes that will move into motion together, when the moment has come. This is because Uta 1 and Uta2 has different situations regarding the state of the country.

Up till now there hasn't happened a lot indeed but every time I hear a VN player talk about it I'm expecting that the show will develop a good plot. But to be honest even if the show is slow right now, it still is giving people that watched season 1 some fan service, developing characters, and setting the setting. So even if there isn't that much story yet it's a good buildup in my opinion. And I also think it's slower because of how season 1 did it. I also loved season 1 but if there was a complaint it would be that the show had a lot of battles. A bit of buildup, war declaration and then a battle, rinse and repeat. My guess is that they want more buildup for a coming battle and want to go all out to make it more memorable.

Is there a VN reader that can confirm this assumption without spoilers?

But even if some people are a bit less happy with the show currently I still love it.

Whats with the younger fans and demanding instant gratification.
The basic narrative structure any literature professor would describe to you is:
Build up > turning point > pay off

We are in the build up phase.

The first adaptation was VERRRY rushed which resulted in the last half of the story suffering a lot(and the anime studio's bias in favor of Erurshit did not help matters)
The first half was incredibly fast paced, then they padded out with some SOL and then decided that it was a smart thing to rush multiple arcs into 1-2 episode long sidestories. And let's not even begin the cuts that lore and Hakuoro's backstory suffered. The ending was done decently but in their Erurshit-bias they altered a crucial scene in the epilogue that connected directly to this game.

The first story also started in the midst of war, while this is peace times so that scope of action is impossible.

Plot does not equal "action". This is not some kitsch like one punch man where shit has to explode every second. There has not been a single episode wasted so far.

^This.
Everything that is in story so far is needed for the greater scheme.
Hell this episode was extremely in your face with the foreshadowing and yet it seems some people STILL manage to miss it.

This is the kind of people who unironically call Durarara, Baccano, kekkai Sensen etc an "episodic comedies".

Is attention span a rarity in current society or what?

I'm just going to say trust us. We won't defend it this hard from these complainers if it was actually bad overall. If you didn't like how it ends (story wise), then that's okay, but complaining every single episode on how this is not Uta 1 is just stupid, because it's not the same.
And of course, I'm going to rant if they mess up this anime.

So, I'm just going to repeat what I said regarding these complainers when someone asked for VN players (from the "Dropping uta2 thread)

Not really, you've got at least 3 people in this thread that actually knows how the plot will unfold.

It's not hard to find people who actually play the game. It's actually harder to find people that will actually listen to those who plays the game.

Most of the ones that said "the 1st anime was better" never played the original VN to begin with, hence they don't know how "badly" it was actually done.

Who cares about how many episodes there are left lmao.
"Oh yeah this series is 100 episodes long, totally acceptable it only starts doing something after the 30th episode."
Get real.
And what is "Uta 1 anime only users" even supposed to mean?
I actually just finished the first season the other day.
It wasn't very good, I'm actually enjoying this more because Utawarerumono does SoL alright, my point was that it seems like it could do something but instead is giving us filler, so I'm gonna stop waiting that the next episode will be the one and just think it's all filler.
And no, those things didn't need an entire episode either, especially when most of the episode was them walking around, at least work on that "backstory", oh, what? Haku knows Kuon well? WOAH, WHO FUCKING KNEW.
It's like a couple episodes ago with the princess, totally needed that entire episode to introduce her, forget that she was dropped right after she appeared lmao.

Not to even mention that went it does try it's awful at it as the last episode showed so it really should just stay filler, I ain't even mad, just dissapointed, but I have accepted the situation now.

By the way, the first season did feel rushed, but not because it needed half of its episodes to be like this one, it was just rushed when it came to dealing with each arc, I have a feeling this one might do the same with how much time it's wasting... unless, you know, like I said, there's really nothing here.

And a 95% pointless episode again with next week looking to be some unbearably cheesy "love" quest... I understand that things happen in the background but the foreground is so bland and stupid, like this episode's oneesama antics, that it's hard to stay interested. Having to wait for 10+ episodes in a 25 episode anime before the plot might eventually come into focus if we're lucky is not good pacing and isn't engaging at all, we haven't even gotten any meaningful character development in forever. If I hadn't watched the first Utawarerumono I would've most probably dropped this already as I'd have no faith that something engaging would eventually happen.

Not quite sure how I feel about this episode. Seeing Aruruu (and Mukur) and Kamyu was great, but the way they acted, whenever Kuon was involved, was quite jarring. I suppose one could chalk it up to them not seeing her again and letting out all of their bottled up worries, but still, it felt like they really over did it.

Also, lol, Mukur and Kocopo are getting along like a house on fire.

Anyway, the episode was okay I guess.

Get real.

Knowing how many episodes are left for Uta 2 means a lot. Besides the obvious that they can pace this well this also means that they can insert more of the lore and SoL parts of Uta 2 which was pretty much abandoned in Uta 1. Also they've already started doing something from the start of the 1st episode. Like I said before, they're not building something linear that can be seen instantly, but more of lining up dominoes. Events will keep on happening once the dominoes starts falling. (Main reason why I kept comparing this to Steins;Gate on how the story will unfold)

Paulo27 said:

I actually just finished the first season the other day.

It means as it says, people who only watched the anime and not the play VN. This is more directed to theones that kept wanting action and complaining at the SoL parts of Uta 2 and then compare it to Uta 1, when in fact those parts are omitted for the sake of rushed action.

It wasn't very good, I'm actually enjoying this more because Utawarerumono does SoL alright, my point was that it seems like it could do something but instead is giving us filler, so I'm gonna stop waiting that the next episode will be the one and just think it's all filler.

Do you even understand the meaning of filler in the context of an anime?
If you think those are fillers, then you should try and play the game first before actually stating that.

By the way, the first season did feel rushed, but not because it needed half of its episodes to be like this one, it was just rushed when it came to dealing with each arc, I have a feeling this one might do the same with how much time it's wasting... unless, you know, like I said, there's really nothing here.

Of course you keep saying nothing is there, because you keep searching for things that aren't there yet to begin with in Uta 2.

If you feel that you're wasting time watching this, feel free to drop it or keep it on hold and binge watch it later if you're not patient.

Filler in anime context isn't a special word, people usually associate filler with anime-only stuff because they usually add nothing to the story to not mess with the canon work, guess what's happening now, nothing, nothing happens, it's filler.
My point remains, I'm asking for stuff that's not here yet but I see no reason why it's not here yet, I'd not mind if they built characters or relationships before the plot kicked in but they are instead just introducing them and dropping them right after and not building upon any characters or meaningful relationships. They mess around and it's even funny but I don't feel any real connection outside of MCs and Ukon, everyone is just kinda a side-character, didn't need to be that way.
Even this all "worldbuilding" goes right over my head, they have been stuck in this single town for how long? How about actually exploring the relationships with other countries and stuff since Utawarerumono loves war.
Even last episode wasn't that big "some obviously corrupt politicians are corrupt... shock" and that was also dropped as soon as it was picked up.

I find the goldfish comments of "nothing happened" incredibly hilarious considering they happen in the most plot-important episodes. ALWAYS.

I mean, the show literally
, while giving us more of Kuon's backstory and personality as well as giving us information about Uta1's characters and yet the attention span still failed people. I literally fail to comprehend the definition those people use for "something happening".

Nothing happened my ass.

It is good to see old characters, after the last episode preview I've been waiting to see the interaction between Camyu, Aruru and Kuon.

The plot is slowly building, after 9 episodes we can saw a tiny pieces and now i have alot of questions. Utawarerumono S1 and S2 the format of the story is very different from that of the animes we see commonly, but not from books or tv series about kingdoms (wars between them), which involve alot of policy.

Some questions i have, is the country of Yamato will be a problem for others nations, is a evil country? thats question come to me after watch the episode 6 with Karura, Touka and Kuon about Yamato. And look like Ukon have the same question about Tusukuru (episode 9).

Rurutie and Atui could be political hostages?, both are princesses from neighbor countries. And now we have Tusukuru sending a diplomatic group to Yamato , all these events have a meaning in the future (If the princess was not absent Tusukuru had sent her instead of the diplomatic group).

The identity of Haku, his reunion with the king, i think is a important event for the plot in the future.

And that's my opinion (sorry for my mistakes in grammar).

Yes! We got to see those two again. All grown up and they carry the same personalities. ^^
I loved how they were babying Kuon, so cute.

Looks like Mukkuru and Kokopo became best of friends though, that's nice.

Hm, it was surely nice to see Aruru and Kamyu again and all but at the same time I'm pretty sad they put them in solely as comedy relief characters.

Whole this adaptation simply feels more like fandisk type story full of fanservice rather than full-fledged sequel.

There were some flags hints of possiblities that Kuon could loose her sisters because of upcoming war (that's why Ukon was asking Haku how dangerous they are) which would drive the further drama but I bet that's just my wishful thinking.

Knowing how things worked in the first game and series I have a bad feeling about that scene with the little emperor and also with Ukon gathering information about the Tusukuru's people.

Another cute, laid back outing involving characters I don't know from season one who know Kuon, complete with another bath scene. Next week also looks cute. I'm beginning to wonder if this ever gets serious. :D

ARURU! She hasn't change much despite growing from kid and become adult. Of course, nice to see Mukkuru too.
But it's important to remember that a movie review is subjective;it only gives you one person's opinion.

It doesn't matter if you like LoGH,Monster etc.If you are a jobless or college/school dropout living in your mom basement, you are still an unintelligent loser. Taste in anime does not make you a better person. If elitist don't exist, casual pleb and shit taste also don't exist.

I was wondering if I need to watch S1 for things to make sense in this anime. I am still very clueless on what this anime is about by episode 9.

Wait, that voice... It's Rie Kugimiya, right? Awww yissss!!

Kokopo and Tiger-san relationship sure develloped fast, as it does between pretty much every animals (though, it often end in a ''dinner'' relationship).

It look like the plot may start moving. I sure hope so. I don't mind the SoL episodes, but I'm not really watching that show for them.

I second that. I watch this show cause my friend told me how good the original eroge is. But I'm too lazy to play or watch the first season.

I highly recommend watching the season 1 before watching Itsuwari. Besides, first 9 episodes of season 1 is better than first 9 episodes of Itsuwari.

This episode feels relaxing and nostalgic. Love Kuon's reactions.
