Not really a fan of the animation, was rather confusing, seems like it's all over the place, and doesn't look like something I would enjoy.

I didn't find this confusing at all. Loved the art direction and sound design, too! Seem to be some great characters. Can't wait for the next episode! 5/5

Didn't find it confusing actually. Wonder if every episode'll be like this or if it'll keep going from where it left off.

PS: Kikko looks awesome

lol @ all the confusion. The ep was a great introductory piece, you're not supposed to get answers, just clues as to what the situation is, now you're left as to "what happened between the bureau and Jirou".

It's funny cause I bet the same people that are confused here thought One Punch Man was so good (like everyone else claiming it's the savior of anime after one ep. sry but I can't help but bring it up). It's literally the same structure. Between visiting the past, where instead of seeing how a character came to be, you see how two characters came to know and work with each other, seeing some random fights, getting a small hint as to what the story will focus on, which is the relationship that Jirou used to have with Kikko and what happened, and good animation (in this case art).

As far as the art goes, the backgrounds are unique, but to say it's "cartoonish"... eh? The characters (especially Kiikko) resemble late 90's early 2000 anime if anything. I like this show so far, way better start than Kekkai Sensen which I hated from ep 1.

The sad and hilarious part of this is that a lot of people don't "GET" what a flashback or non-linear narrative is. I literally seen people go "Wtf why did the MC keep changing clothes every few scenes"

The show was meh and all over the place. I understood was going on but I felt it tried to pack too much to create an impact but would come off as confusing to those who have a short attention span.

Not sure if I'm going to continue this one. I liked the ED instrumental though.

Kikko is so pretty. I liked her transformation. Well, this episode is confusing to me just because sometimes i didn't knew if it was a scene that was really happening in that moment or not

I enjoyed the 1st episode. Something about it grabbed my interest. I like wacky and unconventional stuff, so maybe that’s it.

I hope the show delivers though. Frankly, I haven’t really enjoyed any of Bones most recent original works (last one I saw was Captain Earth), so I’m still somewhat skeptical about this one. But so far, everything seems good..... at least for me personally.

Nice vibrant colours and likeable characters. Their appearances are nice. I like the witch girl, to be exact her witch look.

Seems most of the show was basically a flashback and those few parts with Jirou when he looked a bit rough were the present. It'll probably catch up at some point.

There aren't many explanations given, which I like. I wasn't left wondering in the dark about the plot, but I was a bit confused and intrigued. I hate when characters rattle off information right away. Seems these don't have any intentions and so far, this season is quite pleasing.

Always leave it to Bones for crazy and flashy visuals.

Anyway this series seems to be a sort of Marvel/DC in itself. I mean there are aliens, robots, mutants, magical girls. WOAH, never seen a series that packed all in one.

Gotta see how this develops like.

This feels like you have to watch it a couple hundred times to let it sink in properly. Fuck that shit.

The girl is also extremely annoying.

RIP comprehension.

Not too fond of the artstyle. It's a really high contrast color palette and is very hard on the eyes. The way they draw the buildings and background is also questionable. It doesn't add very much depth, but there's just enough to make the lines pass as a structure.

OST is meh.

More messy than punchline, rolling girls, drrr combined. Eventually I got it, but it's simply jumping between year 41 & 46. Could've been much clearer. Main thread/infodump seems centered around how Jirou disobeyed Superhuman HR & left with the Ultraman guy he saved.
Obvious problem was for the pre-OP sequences, the 2 year plates were placed at the end of their respective sequences. Train sequence suddenly went grey color scheme with rain, so felt like a flashback, but Kikko seemed older, so it's confusing, might be alternate timeline (punchline-ish), her elder sister etc, but turns out it's 5 years after. And placing the year plate on that unrelated TV ad, right before OP, giant WTH!?
And post OP, they put one year plate at the start, instead of end of sequence. Consistency please. They did succeed in establishing year 41 is poppy colors & screentones, year 46 grey rain.

Quite like the color & animation. Story sounds interesting, but presentation needs help.

Magical girl + mecha... I'm ok with both, but a risky choice since a sizeable audience hates either genres or both.
Awesome transformers actions. Interesting the Gatchaman group was borrowing a film theatre to monitor & probably move the fight into the hidden frame gaps Jirou explained.

the non linear story telling is intriguing and a bit confusing tbh but it is not bad ??

i really don't get you guys.

anyway the anime feels like every '80s anime blended together along with kuuchu buranko's art direction and ttgl/klk generic stuff.

don't know what to think yet of it, i just know that i enjoyed it, so i'll keep watching it for at least another couple episodes.

O_O Huh that was ... interesting. Loved the colourful animation style, and man that ED was SUPER TRIPPY! OP was all right. Seems like they're going for a non-linear story telling style. So we have superhumans who protect humans, and then witches and shapeshifters and stuff who protect THEM too. Then we have magic and evil aliens and good justice heroes ... I don't even know what to think XD Plus it seems like in 5 years something will happen in the group as well ... huh. I'm gonna keep watching because I'm interested, and looking forward to meeting the other people who will work with Kikko. Dat magical girl transformation doe! ;P

Kikko's cleavage was about the only appealing thing in this anime. No thanks, Bones studio.
Alright, fine, I'll admit the art style was nice. That's not enough reason to continue watching though.

Screwed up timeline is a plus, and the style is great. But the most surprising thing is a rearranged ending song from Hideaki Anno's "Love&Pop" in the final scene?! What the hell, I wasn't prepared for hearing "That Wonderful Love, Once More" at all xD Instant respect for whoever decided to insert this
