The episode was okay.
Episode's pacing felt a bit slow though in comparison though but we still get some politics and social affairs in the city. Gel hit puberty fast LOL

I'm kinda interested in the way this show decided to introduce Tsubasa.

Normally in shows like this Tsubasa's personality is typical for a MC so the reason I really loved S1 was Hajime being out of the norm.

Now that Hajime is a regular member we get a new character and make Hajime the senpai.

Still find Hajime much more interesting :P She's even more fun than S1 in some kind of ways ^^; esp with Katz and his "BITCHI BITCHI"

Why didn't Gel become a hot chick D:

I really love this ED :3

I think it's because Gel is supposed to be androgynous :0

I was kinda surprised how people assumed that Rui was gonna die because of the last episode. Of course they wouldn't kill Rui who is one of the most popular characters in the show. Not that I complain I love Rui myself too.

This episode was a bit slow paced, especially when comparing to the last one, but enjoyable.

I'm sorry to say but this season is starting to annoy me. Gel and Tsubasa are simply way too naive about pretty much everything. The dilemma about the Crowds is pretty much a rehash of Season 1's focus.

Hopefully it's leading somewhere good, but for now it's starting to get to me.

Agreed; all it's been is the same thing as the first season, but worse.

Not to mention how vapid the dialogue is.

Tsubasa and Gel-chan's ideals clash with some members of the group, which isn't surprising considering Tsubasa is still new. Seems like this is headed for some bad direction. I'm not really sure how I feel about this so far.

I'm starting to think that I'd be enjoying this a lot more if it weren't for Tsubasa and Gel-chan. The rest is alright, but those two are taking quite a lot of screen time away from the things that I actually enjoy when watching Crowds and it doesn't help that they both talk like children. It's expected of Gel-chan I guess because she's an alien who's knows nothing about how the earth works, but I have no idea what they're trying to do with Tsubasa. She's just way too childish and can't think for herself, or at all.

The fact that Hajime and Katze might do something interesting is all that's keeping me interested now.

Ah, this is beautiful. Nothing speeds the way towards totalitarianism than good intentions, either the paternalism of Joe or the materialism of Gel/Tsubasa.

As for Tsubasa of course she is naive and stupid. She is a child who has grown up all her life in our modern protective society, in short she is a child with far too many allergies. This is why her great grandfather knows better than to turn firework making over to her: desire isn't enough when you are dealing with gunpowder, Tsubasa is about to learn that lesson.

As for humanity, Gel is just a metaphor for government. Many people will willingly trade their freedom away for comfort, I mean its all for "peace", who wouldn't want that? What excess wouldn't be justified by that always oh so elusive goal? And even if they succeed, a whole planet of people who think alike. Blah.

Kick back people, this show knows exactly where it is going. Looking forward to when Hajime first deploys Katze for a little rain on Tsubasa's parade.

I guess this is going to turn into clash of ideals on how should hero act and I guess it is going to be Tsubasa s viewpoint that will be turned on its head,as at the current pace, the show will show that things will not turn out for better just by acting "good".

It tries. There's symbolism in the characters, crappy dialogue that tries to get somewhere, and the plot is suppose to be a parallel and representing the shift in society, but c'mon. It tries but it doesn't get there.

Hajime was such a weak force this episode with her terrible description, even though the point she was trying to make is good.

And Gel and Tsubasa are gnawing my nerves. :L

Edit: Gel's an alien. Maybe it's intersex.

Plenty of interesting developments on this episode.

The fact that they never showed Rui in this episode after being taken to the hospital speaks volumes of the consequences of having his ideals battered and hurt. Sadra's desires of "uniting everyone" are a double-edged weapon, we've heard before that Sadra has achieved peace in other planets, but we know nothing about the costs and consequences of such peace. It's kind of a shift from a collective leadership to a monolithic society with the Gatchaman in the middle of it, with their opinions already clashing.

Liked Joe short dialogue, it's just the kind of thing I expected him to say about Crowds, haha, same with the rest of the group. Thing are getting hectic and uncomfortable, and I think that sooner or later, we're going to need a little Katze in our lives ;)

Hajime is still the most interesting character because she has somewhat gray morality, not black and white justice like the other Gatchaman (maybe except OG). Looks like Gel-kun's campaign will result in a mess somehow.

Gel's emotion balloon on Hajime's head was always gray, same with Tsubasa's grandfather. Wonder what it means.

Even in her bubbleheaded way Hajime manages to make more sense and be way more realistic than pretty much anyone. Her speech about conflict being a good thing is actually very insightful if you stop to think about what she's actually saying (something Tsubasa is much too naive to do). Hajime understands that conflict is inevitable. You can't make it go away, but you can deal with it and try to minimize its harmful effects.

To further drive the point home about Tsubasa and Gel's naiveté. Millio's comment about Gel not being able to win because she is a child (big assumption on his part). Gel's solution is to change form into a grown-up male (I also think the reason for the male physique is that Gel has seen exactly one politician, so she used that as a base). It's not like people are going to forget that she up until that point looked like a child.

I'm ready to call bullshit on the emotion/thought reading ability too. Because Gel seemingly pulled the emotions from people either all over the planet or all of japan. In either case she claims that everyone wants the same thing, which is blatantly false (Hello, VAPE?). She's either completely unable to distinguish nuance in human thought, lying about how her ability works or at worst ignoring stuff she doesn't like.

I'm so much more interested in knowing more about Hajime than those two.

Gelsadra is male.

本来の姿 (Original form) = His cloud-man appearance, emphasis on man.
少年の姿 (Boy form) = his shota appearance, emphasis on shota.
青年の姿 (Teenage boy appearance) = the latest one.

He's always been 100% a male alien. If this wasn't obvious when he first appeared as a lanky, tall and male shaped mass of fluffy gas. He speaks like a boy and he's referred as a boy.

Subbers thinking he was a girl in Gatchaman Crowds made a big mistake.

It's okay! I'm just worried people will keep thinking he's a girl or switched genders (like Katze does) when he's not. He just became older. This was pointed out in the show too. Nobody thought he was a girl at any point (unlike what happened with Rui), they were surprised he grew up so fast.

IIRC Berg Katze in Crowds has never been shown to be anything but male though. Berg Katse in the original Gatchaman did switch genders, but that doesn't mean it's going to be the same in Crowds.

I would disagree with the statement "He just became older." It was a change of physical appearance. Gel remained just as naive after the change as before.

About that: http://imgur.com/a/hGJR0 That would be a pretty egregious translation error then.

It's worth noting that the original Gelsadra, or Gel Sadora, was female (and a villain, hint hint). Though like I said before, it's not necessarily an indicator that Crowds will play out the same way.

mindblown from Gel's transformation, 2dank4me

I highly doubt the show put Tsubasa's and Gel-chan's(still kawaii to me) "naivety",or idealism for fun and make this show that won't censor Katze's bitching a children show.
I admit it's frustrating to watch their acts sometimes, but the "oh yeah good sheet is coming" feeling has just grown stronger from time to time.
Hajime's vague but simple expression on diversity is just superb.

Katze in Crowds could become female if he kissed one. That's what I meant.

His appearance is older... which was stated in the show AND outside it in the twitter?

It was a translation error.

"Aitsu" aka "that guy/one." Gender neutral. The rest omit the person, as it's known in japanese to do away with it. It's all the subs mistake to not realize that a giant manly mass of clouds is maybe male.

This is completely irrelevant to Crowds. X was male and a bad guy, for example. You already have the official statement: 少年の姿 Young boy is how Gelsadra is called before his adult transformation. He was always male. I don't know why are you stubborn about this?

I'm not questioning you just wondering ... If that's the case why did tsubasa and everyone call him gel CHAN a name normally reserved for young females and hug all over him like a little girl?

Are you sure tsubasa and others didn't mistakenly think he was female? He even shows his belly and wears high heels like a girl but doesn't after he grows up. I'd sure think he was female if I was tsubasa.

Also he never used the boku pronoun until he grew up which is strange.

Also aitsu doesn't directly translate to that guy it's gender neutral.

I'm not disputing the fact he was always a boy just saying it's def possible , even probable, the chars mistakenly thought he was a girl.

I don't think the subbers were wrong in saying she because it was clear tsubasa was just as shocked as the rest of us when cute little gel chan grew up to be a grown male.

He might have always been intended to be male by the creators but I def think they tried to throw off the audience e and the characters by thinking he was female then shocking us.

I mean they even hire Hana kana as is child VA then switch it to an obviously male voice

what I thought about gel is going to get real, he WILL be the "bad guy" (the character that will get rekt by Hajime by the end of the season). He wants everyone to think the same, whatever is right or wrong. Even if his ideal is peace, brainwashing the human population will make life itself absolutely worthless. Hajime's character is all about clashing, fighting, and evolving.

Newbie and gel are obviously wrong for this reason. What I find good is that everyone in this second season have rightful ideals, it makes the show very interesting.

It's quite good to have an anime making social and political commentary while getting into some interesting subjects.
