I wonder if we're gonna see more of those panty shots?

I don't get it Kaori is suppose to be death, so how come she's alive?

I wonder if this anime has some similarities with Amagami SS?

lol this is the most shittiest frame work/ animation i've seen.
The story seems ok but the animation is really shit. Seems like they put little budget on this one. The animation felt very laggy and rough. In some parts I wasn't able to tell if characters were 2D or 3D. Had weird effects like BIG /13 /14 numbers on screen (which I didn't even understand what it means). It looks so unprofessional compared to other studio's work.. Jeeze if they only they had done proper frame work this would've been a good anime..

If you only look at the artcover work. You think this would be like nagi no asukura. So anime animation was a let down. But I like argevollen and that has shity animation.

I don't even understand what you are trying to say here....

Character design was nice and the premise is promising. The animation was great in some moments but completely wooden in other moments. That being said this show's first episode was just awful. I have no idea who anyone is in this show besides there basic archetypes (brawler, the nosy one, foreigner, childhood friend and main character-kun). The pacing was horrid, in fact some of the worst pacing I have seen in years. Events went by at lightning speed and left literally no impact on me as a viewer. So when childhood friend got hit by a bus, I could've cared less because the only thing I really knew about her was that she liked main character-kun. I will give this one more episode to clean up it's act, so hopefully they stop rushing everything.

Not just the animation is shitty..everything aside the character designs just looks ugly..especially the backgrounds.

The music is like one of the tracks i once heard while waiting in an elevator..it puts me to sleep. I probably would have dropped it if not for the ending but now i give this 1-2 more eps.

@Tyrael

lol.. the anime picture on mal is definetly from some other show.

Heads up! Uncensored version exists. Just not Funi/CR/HS. Although... I do have to say the animation was crappy.

EDIT: Just confirmed that AT-X airs censored as well. I guess the leaked images were from the BD version then. Which means they might have done it on purpose to boost the sales.

Whatever, that punk guy, what an asshole, I got creeps. Poor Kaori, had to confess for the guy to finally notice. Or maybe he does noticed but was playing dumb...
Looking forward to see how this develops.

This anime has a Ano Natsu feel behind it.

Wished they have clarified the scenes a bit more, on the part where she got hit and the part where we timeskipped back to the past which mentions the senpai retirement.

Anyways, really interesting. Will watch.

Hmm this is pretty terrible.

The game was pretty awful but it had the pretty art to keep me playing and I love eroge girls but this adaptation sucks as expected. Terrible art and animation, plus the already bad plot from the game so it doesn't matter how much I love eroge girls .

The confession made the car accident seem somewhat predictable. I don't get the end. She's like dead then back at school all of a sudden? Then a nekkid girl is just laying there? Ok....

If it's really time travel, I will bet my soul that the scientists in the beginning are Sou and Airi. If true, then it would be truly f*cking ironic if he ends up falling for the mystery girl he sent to save his childhood friend.

For those who are having difficulty with what happened: If you look at the French subtitle of the show you'll see it's "In search of a lost future" or something to that effect (Not totally fluent in French, but I can usually make it out). Combine that with the very brief scene at the start with the lab and what looked like human bodies in those fluid filled tubes, and you should get the idea that this is not just a school romance, there is probably something deeper underneath that will need to be uncovered as part of the action.

Second thing is that this is based on an adult visual novel with multiple routes. Those two factors lead to a couple of possible reasons why we saw Kaori die in the first episode and then had a reset:

1. They animated one of the bad ends and then went back to the beginning
2. A big part of the plot is trying to avoid the death of Kaori, and someone is manipulating time

Note that these are not mutually exclusive solutions. That having been cleared up, I'll have to agree that the animation wasn't all that good in this first episode. In some of the VN reviews I've seen they single out the quality of the artwork, so that is actually a big disappointment. Hopefully it will get better, or the rumoured uncensored version becomes available (haven't checked ATX schedule yet to confirm if it exists).

Interesting first episodes. I am completely confused why people are calling the animation "mediocre". Sure, it doesn't look like Hyouka, but the animation is pretty good IMOP. I guess I don't have high standards?

As for the scene at the end, I'm assuming they went back in time or to another dimensions or something. I'm excited for the next episode now!

That was painful to watch. The animation was choppy and there were way too many stills. The backgrounds weren't very detailed either, save for the stars scene.

The story was a mess. I know it's only the first episode, but we don't even really know the main characters yet and we already have love confessions and deaths? I as a viewer don't have any reason to care. Establish the characters' personalities and depth before throwing plot-significant events at us. I feel like the childhood friend would have been better off killed at the beginning of the episode (as part of the premise) if they weren't going to develop her character first.

Eh. I won't totally discredit it yet, but as lucidbrandon says, this already has one foot in the garbage pile.

This first episode was...meh ok sorta good sorta bad.

I don't know. I agree with a lot of people that the animation was TERRIBLE. However, the characters seem likable and the plot is at least interesting. The one thing that confused me was that bus scene only to seem to go to something completely different in the next scene. This does have a "Steins;Gate/Madoka Magica" time reset element...although the one thing I'll say is the transition between scenes didn't seem very fluid. I understand that this show might be trying to create a sense of mystery and intrigue, but the way it was cut just seems like bad directing since it has me more confused for the sake of being confused rather than intrigued by what happened and want to know more.

I'll keep watching for a few more to see where this goes.

Uchihama Gakuen has seen an increase in enrollment in recent years and as a result, a new school building will be constructed. The story takes place during the final school festival in the old school. All the club leaders decide to give it their all to make this the best school festival. Sou is a member of the notorious astronomy club, which basically solves the various issues in the student council's place.
On one day, he stays in the school late at evening because he got slightly injured by the judo club and is healing his wounds in the infirmary. Suddenly, the building shakes. Shocked, he runs up the stairs to where the shaking seems to have centered, and there he encounters a mysterious naked girl, whom at first appears to know him. On the next day this girl, Yui, seeks out the astronomy club, expressing her desire to join.

That's the Visual Novel's description. Looks like Kaori's death was an asspull or taken from a latter part of the VN. I haven't read the VN but as for the anime, it could be one of the best this year or one of the worst.

While I agree the animation seems off, kind of old school, I can't really hold that against the series as a whole. Even old school animation can still tell a good story, and that's where we'll get into the shaving of points.

The story in this *FIRST* episode was confusing, at first it was all slice of life-ish with the every day activities and the confession from the childhood friend and then BOOM! she's dead only to be perfect fine in the next scene. It lost me there, but I will keep watching for at least another two or three episodes to see what happens before I pass any judgement on dropping it or not. So, to sum this episode up in one word...

Mediocre.
Odds are I'm not going to find my way back to a thread after my first post, it happens on occasion but not often.
