But really, the plot is shit.

Wait, what plot?
coming form someone with a hoshizora profile picture you really expect anyone to give a shit what you say, im sorry i relise a oppinion is a oppinion but you have a boring cliche charecter from the worst anime for 2011 thats based off shitty hentai game that trys to rip off kannon, you really lose ALL credibility for everything with that

Call me stupid, but I was completely caught by surprised with the yaoi shit. I was not expecting it any way.

First anime I drop on the first episode. It's not something I like to do, nor something I'm proud of, but it leaves me little choice.
"Tonight, I sit in the eye of the storm. As fire boils around me, I press forward, winds and lightning lashing my wings. I am no match for what I face. Yet I will not back down, and though fear may place it's stranglehold on my heart, courage will see me through. With tears in my eyes, I hit full throttle. My engines become an inferno, and my weapons light up, awaiting my command.

If I die tonight, I will do so fighting for everything I believe in."

BrickBreak, let me get this straight... you dropped an anime for no other reason than that it featured two 12yr olds - holding hands? Wat.

I've heard that one of the two gets a girlfriend later. There goes the shonen-ai theory.

They are just starting off slow on the first episode. His hair and everything will change in the next few episodes so just stay with it. Good series again by BONES. Great job. 4/5 8/10 so far.

This show is not shounen-ai. The romance (albeit slow) is between him and his childhood friend.

Can two guys be really close bros and have everyone NOT calling it gay?
I wouldn't even give a shit if it was gay. But people spouting shit about two guys being close friends makes themselves sound really insecure.

EXACTLY. I am amazed on how people CANNOT understand the concept of FRIENDSHIP.

I don't know which sad childhood these people lived to be so paranoid about two boys holding hands? They completely missed the fact that Shion's character was supposed to be like that.

And no, this is NOT EVEN REMOTELY SHOUNEN-AI. These people should watch some real shounen-ai to see what it is all about. People calling this yaoi are just so ignorant that I cannot help myself to flame them. They must be trolling.

After seeing the illustrations on the novels, and then the first few chapters of the manga, the anime's art (the character's faces anyway... Safu and Shion looked different than I expected, but I guess that's my fault for that) was slightly disappointing. Though I really like the blue stuff LOL. That scenic bit at the end, those cool wrist/TV and wall-telephone-chat gadgets and such.

And wth SHION'S ROOM IS SO BIG fkj;asldkfj;lskdjf;lsfdakj HE EVEN HAS AN UPSTAIRS ----- envy envy envy XD

Actually I understand the bromance thing, the hints from the manga were really strong and I heard the novels were even more so, so it's almost natural for some of it to show up here... though it wasn't that much really. Not yet.

Looking forward to seeing the characters when they're older. And the rest of this overall. <3

Edit: Oh and the ED was nice. :3

This really did have a little feel of Fractale about it, and I liked that show. I have to disagree with those who have said if it were two girls holding hands then no one would cry "Yuri". From what I've seen in MAL, if you had two girl's named Flower and Mouse holding hands with the dialogue: "You're hot...", the yuri fanciers would be baying at the moon like a pack of wolves in heat.

Now a number of posters have suggested that if it follows the novel arc, then we are going to see the romance develop between Shion and his childhood friend (Ms. "symbolic expression of the desire to reproduce"). That actually makes it more likely that I will continue to watch it, since I'm more interested in a male/female pairing than a male/male. Nothing against shounen-ai, or its fans--it's just not a draw for me. However, I would not automatically drop it simply because there is a shounen-ai element (or yuri, or incest, or loli for that matter). I'm willing to give this another couple of episodes and see just where we go with the plot and the setting. Judging an anime based on one episode--have we learned nothing from Madoka?
Please don't feed the trolls!

Amazed at the number of homophobic comments. Some people should seriously grow up. Don't think it's even shounen-ai to begin with. They are freaking 12 years old. Two boys can hold hands without being gay and if you think they can't you're a seriously narrow minded person.

That being said even if it was shounen-ai it shouldn't matter. If you don't like it then just don't watch, simple enough. Think it's actually shojo, though.

As for the episode itself, thought it was great. Best new show I've seen this season. 5/5

So when it's lolicon 100% with 100% ecchi it's good and when it's just a little boy to boy relationship it's like gay sex ?
wow ppl r soo lolicon lovers and shotacon haters.
Go watch "YuriYuri" or something if u hate it haters !!

I loved how it was shota. =D soo cute. Especially the main character how he says "Why are you doing something my mom does ?" and ignore the girl's kiss.

And then blush so easily. Soo cute shota boy. <3 I hope this is shotacon.
Seriously the anime world needs more shota. we already have 99% lolicon so
at least 1% to shota pleasse ?

I'd like to know why Shion eventually dyes his hair white, gets colored contacts (?), and a funky scar or tattoo or whatever that was. o _o Weirddd.

Derp, I kind of liked the episode though, it was pretty easygoing and enjoyable.
please use a spoiler tag, your not suppose to talk beyond the anime...but honestly i think guys with colored contacts is just plain wrong in general if its not used for anytime of medical issue

Most anti 6 replies I saw were "I'd watch this show if it weren't for the scary, scary gay." I don't mind people who complain about the storytelling, art, dialogue or any other thing. But saying things like 'I wish the main character would be straight" as if that's the sole deciding factor...

On one hand, it's incredibly hurtful.
On the other hand, it's like dismissing Steins;Gate and Clannad because they're zomg harems, Madoka because it's yuri, or one of the better Gundams or Star Driver because it's mecha.

...but it's all beside the point, because nowhere does it state that No. 6 is BL. Know what else isn't BL? X, where Fuuma kept fondling and licking Kamui every chance he got and Subaru and Seishiro were an established couple; Cardcaptor Sakura, where Yukito and Touya were boning behind the scenes; Star Driver, where Sugata, Takuto and Wako had equally much sexual tension in all directions; Gundam 00, where Tieria was in love with Lockon and Ribbons was sleeping with Alejandro; Gankutsuou, where Albert saved the Count... with a kiss; Naruto, where Naruto and Sasuke kissed in the first episode and spent the rest of the series obsessing over each other; Peacemaker Kurogane, where pretty much everyone was at least very blatantly bisexual; Utena, where everyone had or wanted to have sex with eveyone; Simoun, that had that kiss around episode 24; Evangelion, with that bath scene - and lot more if I spend some time going through a list.

Nobody is complaining that people stay away from Junjou Romantica or other BL romances. Our hackles are raised because people are scared away from a non-BL show just because of the possibility that it have gay down the line - despite the fact that one of them, as far as I've heard, even gets a girlfriend.

Nobody advertises, say - Gankutsuou by its climax scene (or even by the mecha episode), and I haven't met anyone bothered by them either.

No offense to anyone that doesn't like it because they think it's boyxboy, that's entirely down to your own opinion, but it's not yaoi. That's like calling anything with a heterosexual pairing hentai.

Don't really understand all the complaints about it in that respect either to be honest, it's a lot more toned down than the manga/novel and they'll probs cut a whole lot more due to the short number of episodes, which is my biggest worry :(

I do really like the ending for this, going to take me a while to get used the the opening though I'm afraid.

yah same, ive seen a few 11 ep serise get pulled off perfectly, look at another bones serise recently called tokyo magnitude 8.0, it doesnt have a plot as deep as this with conspiracya nd all but in just 11 episodes they build up the plot, charecters, setting for a emotional finale for one of the best endings to a anime period, though only having 11 ep for a whole serise is a tricky buisness seeing how the novels are still ongoing

who know everyone though gosick was gonna have a "it just kinda stops" ending cause the novels were still ongoing but it ended up having the final episode on the day the final novel came out and ha the same ending, they might do that with this sionce NO.6 hasnt been going on for long while gosick had 24 ep cause the novels had been going for a good 9 years, so it may go like that did

You're so right, we should disqualify Angel Sanctuary, God Child, X, Cantarella and Yami no Matsuei for being violent having a too low romance content.

Anyway, I loved this first episode. The setting is just amazing, and I really liked the main characters. This show has potential, I just hope they won't screw it up. (Though I kinda fear that, due to the number of episodes...)

who the hell knows what goes through whoever gives tags for shows on mal,

ecpecially with romance, i mena we get shows that have like only a few scenes of a hinted one and it gets tagged then we get somthing like gosick where its a major plotpoint to the story and its juts labled as mystery and shounen for some reason

and watch people are gonna tag this shounen-ai depsite there not being ANY, that hand holding was checking for a fucking fever and it lasted litterly 5 seconds i mean dear god how immature can people get,

then about shion being pushe dinto a bed, last time i checked a gay vibe isnt pushing someone down and then saying that "if it were knife youd be dead right now", thats not somthing people say to get kinky,

Good, it hooked me up and I can see it has certain potential to become one of the best series of this season (not that it actually means anything, but still).

But I can't understand people who say that there was anything gay or yaoi-related in this. It just shows how bloody immature you people are - seeing overtones in everything... He held the hand of another guy - so what? They are both 12 y/o, and it was to emphasize the lack of closeness between people in this utopian city. I'm seriously tired of this common viewpoint that everything is gay if it is between two guys - soon enough I won't be able to go for a beer with my friends since it will be regarded as gay, huh? Geez, steam off a bit people and learn to perceive things as they are.

I'm in. The mystery, the "ideal" city, that society...it seems interesting. That moon thing was weird, I really want to know more about it. On shounen-ai deal, I saw nothing in this episode, but if it really goes that way - I don't care. I thought the last scenes were sweet, that "humans are warm" line really made me interested in Nezumi's past, who is he....
This is dark, that kind of system they live in ... just how they had to answer to the security department through that bracelet, and it was presented was something normal and usual...that bracelet, chips inside people's bodies...looks like this is far away from a free society or an equal one. Eager to know more about it. (how many times did I repeat "want to know more about it"/"interesting"...pff they got me)

I liked it a lot, it was a nice first episode ^^ Nice OP/ED :)
The character design reminded me of Darker than Black, especially those from the second season :) I think this anime might become one of my fav summer ones, too bad it'll be only 11 episodes :(

Seriously was trying to read through all the previous posts but this kind of crap kept popping up.

That, and people complaining about a lack of plot? He lives an abnormally pampered life (as illustrated by the grandma pointing out how easy it is in No.6), that is extremely science oriented ("it's a reaction of my reproductive response", how many 12 year old girls say that when they kiss a boy they like??), and he housed a fugitive.

We know NOTHING of the city.

I don't understand how people don't understand how obvious all these questions are.

Anime fans confuse me. Incest is alright, pedophilia is fine, yuri is awesome, but when two little boys hold hands, people get into such a tizzy and cry "get the gay away, it's all in my face."

If Nezumi were a girl holding Shion's hand, then no one would think anything of this. Truly sad to see some of the reactions to this anime.
