I'm sure there's this whole backstory that answers what he could possibly like about Mina, which probably won't get adapted, i'm not sure I haven't read the manga... but at the moment, Akira seems to be utterly devoid of any personality, or anything that could possibly tilt him in favour of Mina. |

You're assuming the only reason he's with Mina because he "made a promise" or he got "charmed" out of your anti-vampire/pro-Yuki agenda. As for Mina, yes, she's shown herself to be quite a devious leader. However, it seemed like a very poor juxtaposition to show Mina as a fun, schoolgirl Tsundere, and then jump back to scheming leader. I just find the way she's been handled to be very poor. There was probably a good character concept in there somewhere, but I don't think they pulled it off. And as for the Twilight thing... please, for the love of god, tell me that was a joke. =_= |

I mentioned it earlier as well that Mina's sudden schizo personality switches were totally off-putting. The tsundere side of things just totally took away from how they tried to bill her as, the great vampire queen. I guess they tried to show her off as someone who still harbored the feelings of a "normal" person with schoolgirl crushed and whatnot, but as you said, handled quite poorly. And yes... it was a joke. Sparkly twilight vampires are probably the worst vampires of all time. >_> |

I think in the next episode or in episode 8 it will be explained, why she behaves that way. You have to think about the circumstances. When does Mina show her girlish, tsundere side? Everytime when Akira is around. And when does she become a scheming leader? Everytime she has to be the leader of the Bund and a leader for her kind. You can say, that only when Akira is around, she can be just a normal girl and she kind of needs that. |

At any rate, it's the same point I keep making again: That may be what is supposed to be the case, but they handled it in such a way that it doesn't properly seem like the same person going through two different sides of her personality, and instead seems like a poorly fused schizophrenic mix of two completely different people. On top of that, neither are all that likeable. But that's another story. @Wasabi: Thank god. Twilight has pretty much ruined the vampire genre. It'll probably be a while until it recovers, when it gets the next dose of Hellsing. Or whatever else. I was hoping that DitVB would pull it off, since on paper it looked like a fantastic deconstruction of... wait, i'm repeating myself again. |

About Akira's personality: They cut out many events that developed Akira's character in the manga and on top of it they made "anime Akira" forget his past. So it is not surprising, that you think he has no personality. It's really a shame that they cut the russian roulette part in the bar... |

Actually, that's something I got spoiled on. Sorta. I think I can guess why, anyway. Either way, that just seems inconsistent now... Akira doesn't strike me as a good enough character to be in that role. It seems really weird and awkward to consider him that way. It just seems mildly out of character. Because it implies Akira has a character. If that makes any sense. ...I don't think i'm explaining my point very well. :/ Anyway, while all this does give Mina a Freudian excuse for the way she behaves, I don't think that redeems her as a character. |

| HA! The end of this episode was just like a bad horror movie. If I was in a theater I wouln't be surprised if someone stood up & yelled, "hey! Didn't he tell ya'll NOT to open the door?! For ANYTHING?!" I'm with everyone who's already guessed that Akira will come back & prevent the mass raep/murder of the human faculty. I do love all the hints Meiren keeps dropping.
