I need spoiler, i need to be straight - what is the secret that the blacksmith talking about??? is shion adopted or what?

The last episode are missing quite a bit of information from the manga.

They kind of skipped the part of visiting the town.

They only briefly some some scenes of the Smith, but not all the details and request from Shion.

I thought I'd give this another try, but the clinginess of the sister is too much. They're whole relationship is cringe.

I love this episode for two reasons.

1. Firstly, Shion got a breakthrough. He also invented something his family can sell at a high price.

2. The bombshell that he might not be related by blood. I mentioned earlier that they had dropped the incest-bait. But today's episode, Marie is all brocon but it's now okay. Since Marie is not related by blood, Marie and Rose are contenders as future love interest unless the story goes for a harem ending.

@patkarunungan he made a promise to marie that he would never marry another woman, so rose or a harem is dead and for the moment rose does not seem to feel anything towards him

It's a silly promise made by kids, and he might perhaps change his mind and break his promise if in his late teens or 20s, he gets attracted to a really lovely lady. This might be Rose or somebody else he hasn't met.

Of course, it doesn't preclude that Marie herself will be that lovely lady, and he would marry her, with or without making such promise.

@patkarunungan no you didn't understand the episode, it wasn't a child's promise (especially since he is mentally adult) but it is thanks to this promise that he awakened the mana so yes it would be very illogical if they fell in love with another girl because we all know that it is through this promise that he begins his awakening to magic

@ROVI65 I was thinking more along that once he grows up, his body with his raging hormones and all that might, just might possibly, make him susceptible to breaking his promise. He might not be a kid at heart, but Marie is, and making him promise that just to appease her childish fancy / brocon seems to me just silly.

But you're right. It is through their closeness (incest attraction if you want to call it because they didn't know at that time that they are not blood related) that Shion awakened his magic, and has since then learned that it's all about having strong emotions.

We both agree that there is no longer any reason for Shion not to fall for Marie as they are actually not blood related.

I simply disagree that it is impossible for Shion to fall in love with any girl not named Marie. Marie, Rose or any other girl is fair game as far as love and attraction and sexual desire are concerned.

That said, this discussion seems to be moot because the anime is focused on his magic research and we're not likely gonna him years from now, and even if there is a time skip in the next few episodes, I don't think there's enough time to develop the romance.

A season 2 is unlikely so any of our speculation on who will end up with Shion is probably left in the source material.
