Hana fits with the group so I think she should relax a little. Touga is perhaps the most intimidating member of the group so no surprise that Hana feels more nervous when talking to him.

I think this episode did a decent job at giving some of the other club members screen time as well as giving Hana's chance to associate with them. She obviously has talent and shouldn't be afraid to show it. Can't wait to see her character develop more.

I guess a no surprise there that the club such as the one our Hana just joined, with a club president such as the blonde girl is, would be a place full of quirky individuals such as these, i mean its a drama club after all, lol.

But hey, they all look like a nice group of kids (most of them anyway), seem like just the club for our heroine to find her place and shine :)

It's hard to praise a subtle voice performance when I'm not a native speaker, it's not like they're having a loud and fast script like Wave, Listen to Me!

Hana is such a great talent am sure it won't take long for her to settle into the broadcasting club.

It seems that the broadcasting club also consists of only four participants with guidance from Mizuki and the other Senpai.

Now they have entered the initial stage of learning with introductions and exploring their respective talents. Always loved how every scene of Hana's monologue was made beautiful with her voice ability making this really impressive. Still don't know much about the other participants at this time, but I'm sure everyone here has their talent and they can get along.

We got a nice introduction to the members of the broadcasting club.❤️❤️
An seemed like a character that would get on my nerves, but her developing a crush on Akiyama so soon proved she's just another Tsundere 😄😄
Hana isn't even aware of her innate talents and she might have proved An once again that you can't have both talent and interest..except for a few. The senpai Ryouko sympathizing with An made it clear that she too feels the same way around a natural born talent like Mizuki.

I love how with just one short phrase, people are transported by the female MC's reading, catching completely off guard, and almost bringing them to near tears of pleasure from listening to her voice. It really undeniable that she has natural talent.

This was a good second episode, introducing the characters in the broadcasting club.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Still don’t totally know how I feel about this one, but it has just enough to keep me curious about next episode.

I know that this series was created by the person behind Sound Euphonium (which I haven’t watched, but know of from its reputation for yuri-baiting. I wonder if we will see some hetro-baiting in this series?).

This is the kind of series that really needs an extraordinary dub cast. As I'm not a native speaker, I can't really distinguish what makes her reading so much different from the others. However, since this is licensed by Hidive, I know they're going to get the blandest cast to dub this show, a pity.
Still a nice SOL, all things considered.

The influence of Miyazawa Kenji's literature is very evident in this story as beyond Haru to Shura, Hana recites Ginga Tetsudou no Yoru (Night on the Galactic Railroad) with An in this episode. It is very evident that An gave up on roudoku (recitations) for the announcement category so she could be more competitive and make nationals, and that's why she is frustrated at seeing Hana's talent for it.

Ah fuck I didn’t know my peak yuri dropped today, still learning the schedule 😩 but this episode I def could see this is written by Hibike’s author. Hana has so much in common with Kumiko in terms of her doubts and confidence issues. Same thing Kumiko went thru in season 1. Even the conversation Hana had with her senpai in the club felt like it was straight out of Hibike!

Even got the rival to best friend trope with Natsue and Hana lol. Natsue did all that yapping and arguing when she could’ve just been nice to Hana and made friends from the start 🤦🏽‍♂️

Nice introduction to the club and some of the prep work that goes into broadcasting PLUS we got the NHK cup coming up so story should be getting going next episode. I’m excited

I was really hoping someone would put Natsue in her place. From the moment she started with that whole “I don’t want to make friends or get along with anyone” attitude, she went into full queen mode. I loved seeing the protagonist knock her off her pedestal so quickly without needing to show off, especially by proving that she’s just as good without even worrying about competing. That moment was so satisfying!

The voice actors are doing an amazing job, especially with how they switch their tone from normal conversation to reciting lines.

It was an alright second episode. I wasn't massively enthralled with the supporting cast but it's only episode 2 and this is their first appearance so I'll cut it some slack for now. An's reveal of a crush on Akiyama kind of felt like it came out of nowhere though, I mean we've barely known these people for a single episode so we've had no time to actually see An and Akiyama interact in any meaningful way.

results-orientated people, e.g. "win nationals," will never make it as far as those who improve for the sake of improving. i disagree with anne.

also, it may be placebo, but the sound quality of this show is very good. pleasing on the ears.

I thought that this episode was ok as two of the new characters that were introduced, Natsue and Toga, annoyed me a bit (especially Natsue) so hopefully Hana ends up winning the NHK cup, assuming she enters it.

They recitation scene really got good care with animation. Last episode voice acting excellence was more understandable but it was good this time too.

Other members of the club were introduced. Toga despite being intimidating actually seems a good person. Natsue is going to be arrogant proud tsundere of this group. I like how people think she will be put in her place. That's not happening, they aren't rivals. She will soften up soon. Result oriented approach isn't also not worst. Without natural talent it's never easy. I think she leaned it hard way previously and switched to announcing. Let's see if switches back to recitation again. But chasing success and calling Hana loser dog is out of line. She was soon shown how good Hana is.
Despite no technical knowledge she has great innate talent. She just lacks confidence and believe. Which sh will gain slowly over the course. I liked the dynamic between them so far.

And Hana don't say the quite part loud, let her do tsundere...

Episode 3/5

A very light episode just to introduce the club and the other characters. Hear beautiful moments of Hana reciting again giving beautiful glimpses of her voice. And other characters and their personalities and talents are also put to the test in this episode. It was a cool episode but without much to say as it was basically a presentation of the club and the other characters. But I feel good vibes from this cast.

Even in two episodes, the incredible setting of this anime is surreal, I was able to appreciate every scene perfectly.

This episode was a proper introduction to the other members of the broadcasting club and each of them had different personalities to behold. Anne in particular stands out not only because of her success in the past, but also due to she looks down at those below her, which did have her clash a bit here and there.

Hana did struggle a bit, but once she got into her stride and what she's familiar with, those who listened acknowledged how good she is at it. Because of that, I think Anne sees Hana as a rival, so it'll be fun to see how that will unfold.

One thing I didn't expect was a guy to appear at the end of the episode, asking if anyone want to drop the broadcasting club and join his drama club instead. Desperation, maybe, but I guess he has a good reason for asking that.

All in all, this was another good episode, where the sound quality continues to be rather splendid to the ears. =)

Ok we got two orange hair'd first years with experience and 2 dark hair'd first years with no experience, interesting. Also 50/50 male and female. We even might have a set up for a ship with that sudden confession??? Hana might have the innate talented voice that the glasses senpai and Anne might envy but Akiyama has that rizz. Honestly really liking all the characters so far. We got a bit of an idea of everyone actually I feel this episode. Though the two new guys were a bit less than the 2 girls we still got a good idea of them. Now we got someone from the drama club straight up coming to poach the first years??
We also had an interesting discussion about choosing what you love vs. what you're good at.

I'm going to be real excited once we get more use of the deep voice of the introverted guy.

The show has an earnest feel that's pleasant, and I enjoy the visualizations, but I agree with those saying the performances aren't selling their talent. An's arc of wanting to recite but going to broadcasting due to ability is way too transparent. It's a lame excuse for being so aggressive about a newbie being new. Doubt she'll add anything worthwhile to the show unless we speedrun her obvious decision to recite anyway and find a new archetype for her. Did appreciate the ending. I wondered several times if the lessons weren't just the same as acting lessons.

The storytelling in this show is very engaging to watch, the visuals are also very beautiful and there is no doubt that it is made by Studio Bind.

All the seiyuu in this show are good especially Hana's va but Izumi Fuuka is so great man, i love her voice, she became one of my favorite seiyuu since she voiced Utena and Meme.

Touga seemed like an intimidating character but turns out he is a nice guy and the really anoying one is Natsue An.
She is the one souns like a loser really. I hate people who put unnecesarry pressure on others and they are mean from the get go.
The other characters are pretty loveable, I like this show more than I tought I would.
Hana-chan is really someone you want to root for and se her grow.

@NezuSwallowtail_ Same. But to tell you the truth, her voice range is incredible. I wouldn't recognize it was her if I didn't check it on MAL first. She sounds totally different from Utena and Meme, when she is using her serious voice tone. And here I thought she will sound pretty similar.

You can tell An loved recitation, but felt she had to give it up for competitions. Announcing seems so much more technical with far less creative freedom when compared to recitation. I hope she jumps back into recitation as a friendly rival for Hana. The voice acting in this show is excellent. The central theme of this series draws attention to the VA work, so it could be having a bit of a placebo effect. Even so, it seems to really stand out for me. Either way, I am loving this series so far. It is criminally underrated here on MAL. I don't know what show everyone else is watching, lol.

When MC girl was made to go Aaaaaaaaaa! for 15 seconds, Momoka-san and Subaru should have stepped in on the guitar and drums...

Medalist, the figure-skating story has earned high praise based on its 3 eps available thus far
(but fans are worried things may go downhill soon, as anime studio and director both have "B-movie" reputation and the remaining eps are allegedly outsourced for production.)

@Ronninn They're performing the way they're supposed to, meaning as amateurs. Since they will be learning how to properly perform during the series.

Either you:
(a) were expecting them to sound more emotional, which isn't necessarily correct, as they're supposed to sound like an audiobook
or
(b) you can tell they're performance is weak, which is true, but it's what the story demands, as they will be learning how to do it properly in order to compete. So the VAs are holding back on purpose to stay in character
