Why was Acrobatic Mother beat up anyway? Was she robbed by thugs or was she in debt with any of them as one guy commented "don't underestimate us"

Also she fell off the cliff & died after not being able to find her daughter. She met kid Aira after her death, Aira mistakes Ms. Acrobatic for her own deceased mother. How was she able to see a Yokai that young? Even her father seemed like he saw her. Aira got her ability to see spirits after touching Okarun's deez nuts ain't it? 🤔

She was beaten up for taking money from them. That what I took from it, as we saw her with money in one part.

Not sure about the second part.

I think it was implied that she had turned to prostitution. I’m not sure if she turned to that to help pay back some debt and those thugs were there to collect or punish her or what

She didn't fall from a cliff, but jumped to her death from a rooftop (the manga is explicit on that).

As for why Aira saw her as a kid (and not her father), it's probably a combination of: children are more sensible to the supernatural (and lose that capacity when growing up) / Aira had just lost her mum and was looking for a connection / Aira had some psychic ability above average (hence the impact on Okarun's ball on her is so important), and that capacity went dormant when she grew up

The men were probably Yakuza. I feel like it's another situation like Chainsaw Man, where the father's debts passed to Denji. Silky was working WAY too hard to simply support herself and her daughter. She was definitely paying off debts on the side, and she couldn't make a full payment because she bought that red dress for her daughter's birthday.

I don't think the father saw Silky though. He simply told Aira to stop wandering around. I checked out the manga chapter as well, and Silky appeared in a semi-yokai form in that scene already.
You could interpret baby Aira being able to see Silky as the popular belief that children are sensitive to the supernatural due to their innocence and lack of rationality.

She took some money from some bad people, plus she didn't fell, she jumped herself from the building she was dancing on as a way to close the curtains of her life

She probably owed money to the yakuza which she possibly used to buy her daughter an expensive dress. I assume Aira could see youkais like Momo but maybe her spirits powers aren't strong like her and Aira's dad can't see youkais (don't know why you assume he can see youkais).
All weebs creatures of the galaxy, hear this message. Those of you who listen will not be struck by western animation. You will no longer know hunger, nor pain. Your Anime have come to lead you now. Our strength shall serve as a luminous sun toward which all intelligence may blossom. And the impervious shelter beneath which you will prosper. However, for those who refuse our offer and cling to their western animation ways… For you, there will be great wrath.

Most likely she borrowed money from loan shark and those thugs came to collect the payment.

Whenever you want stories to be "less spoon feeding" and "respecting your intelligence"

...remember OP, who can't follow this plot, that is laid out, bare, before him....because not every Detail is made crystal clear and ready for easy consumption

Any unanswered question will result in an immediate, confused cry for help.

That is why we deserve the storytelling we (usually) get.

Bro just asked a question. Some people do need to be told. Hell, it took me a bit to connect the dots on the mother’s ultimate suicide.

No need to be rude

My take was that she was in debt with the Yakuza, resorted to prostitution along with all the part time jobs to try and pay off said debt while also providing for her daughter as a single mother. She wanted to get that dress for her daughter, but couldn't afford it, feeling bad that she couldn't give her daughter nice things, provide a better life for her, she decides to take some of the money she's supposed to give to the Yakuza and instead buys the dress for her birthday. When the Yakuza find out she's short on the money they send loan sharks to her place, rough her up, take whatever money is left, and use her daughter to makeup for the money she used to buy the dress. You can probably guess what they did to her daughter.

@Kaze1214

I don't feel like Im beeing rude to OP.

If anything Im rude to everyone who opens Threads and agressively ponders why Anime often has to fall back on heavy exposition and lenghty explainations, in the Forums.

This post is why it has to. Cause people don't understand anything, without it.
The audience just isn't that smart.

Take this Show as an example.
If it focuses on sexy scenes and comedy it's too simple and witless, for the boys in here. Threads are opened. Probably by the same guy, even xD
On the other hand: If it relies just a little bit on people kinda filling in the gaps, while trying to be a bit clever with the plot it get's labled as nonsesical. People making Threads (again) like "HELP, what is happening?! This makes no sense!"!!111"

It's silly
Dandadan is so unique. And all I read in the forums is either bait, confusion or virtue signalling elitism
I wonder what an Anime has to do, nowadays, to please the average (pirating and still bitching) MaL-User, even just a little bit xD

most probably the loan sharks or yakuza got her with money related problems

i also don't under why she didn't do her hobby (Ballae) and decided to sell her body instead, if you have a hobby that can support your lifestyle then make use of it like damn

It's really important that a story being told in a new medium, not plan to treat previous works as homework unless it's an explicit continuation.

Pointing out that this issue doesn't exist for Manga readers rather than pointing out evidence in the show of answers, suggests that the adaptation fell short in the given area of confusion. That could be the case, but on the whole the comment is of little benefit to conversations focused on the adaptation. Just more noise drowning out the signal.

@Merve2Love

The spirit's backstory was told more clearly in the manga and it was somewhat censored in the anime. I dont think the reason they somewhat censored the darker details of the story is because they wanted to respect people's intelligence, but okay.

humans get offended so easily so u shouldn't question why they beat her, also imo she wasn't dead when aira saw her , she was alive in that scene, and died later cause her condition was severe.

@JVskunkape then explain why her father saw her, only people who have sufficient spiritual power can see yokai, btw I'm not saying u r wrong, u can be right if u have something like solid proof , afterall this world works on laws and not postulates.

@apexeno Aira's father didn't see Silky though. He just saw his daughter wandering off. He didn't say or do anything to make it look like he saw her.

@apexeno I think it's your own misunderstanding in thinking the dad saw her. He just says something to comfort his daughter who claims she saw her deceased mother, nothing seems to suggest he himself saw anything

@semaj1992 @JVskunkape that still doesn't explain why aira saw her?
