Well, that was sad. Doesn’t matter who you cheer for in this series, seeing Hina feeling rejected without even getting a chance to confess her feelings was just purely and simply sad. I mean I never liked the author's style of narrating things, because at the end of the day, all it does is create unnecessary and unneeded misunderstandings. Because you see, the moment this story started heading towards some sort of goal, keeping Taiki and Chinatsu as the front runners…

… Hina got to know the whole thing, which resulted in her feeling dejected and which then resulted in Taiki cheering her up, which, you know, led Chinatsu thinking what she did lol. So yeah, this is the template this series follows, and tbh, this would go on for a good while. It’s very easy to guess how this would all end up, but yeah, for the time being this is just teenagers trying to sort their feelings out. Also hey, we’ll play some sports too every now and then xD

Hina-chan😞, I really dread the thought of witnessing all this sadness ever again.
Taiki seems to be a natural when it comes to charming others – 'Not fair!' Hina-chan wins the qualifier rounds after consulting with Taiki. Such great progress in the story!
I believe Taiki is on the path to victory for his upcoming matches.

I guess not a very surprising development with Hina, eh. She wasn't all chuby and happy with Taiki just cause she was bored or had nothing better to do ... But hey, at first she took it like a real champ.

But i guess the true drama starts now right, lol.

@Softhenic03 There are no misunderstandings, Chinatsu correctly guessed Hina likes Taiki and Hina correctly guessed Taiki likes Chinatsu.

Watching Hina's 60fps slowmo ankle twist was so brutal, I thought my gymnastics career was over and I don't even know the first thing about the sport.

Lmao at counsellor Taiki's "notes"

The formula of romance be it in animanga on traditional media is beyond washed, consequently love triangles are an established trope at this point but man are they brutally gut wrenching, not prepared to see Hina cry man.

honestly impressive they didn't drag out the misunderstanding of hina finding out they live together for several episodes. If it was any other shoujo it would've been milked for several episodes as a form of comedy until the misunderstanding gets cleared up.

Deep dive into the mind of unrequited love, reminds me of Makeine which is also a good anime.

I love how athletes from different sports are interacting with each other since they're training in the same area, it's not monotone like other sports anime that usually focus on just one sport. With that said, bumping into each other and risk injury is not the kind of interaction I want to see.

“Because I’m fine on my own”.. 💔 was hard to watch Hina be so down and confused about things in the first half of the episode. She’s a person who’s definitely at her best when she’s being silly and carefree.

Was really concerned this was going to lead to her getting injured, which they did pay off with the ankle rolling bit but thankfully that ended up being a minor incident, also allowed she and Taiki to go back to normal and gave her motivation to keep going as an athlete and Chinatsu’s rival.

As I’ve said, any other show she’d be the best girl no doubt, but as a hoops lover it’s gotta be Chinatsu here man. Something about a girl who lives and breathes the game like she does and is committed to getting better every single day.

BUT, it is really cool that unlike traditional romcoms, the rivalry here will push both girls to be better athletes and improve themselves rather than just fighting over a guy and having gags. Also really good that the characters are all so emotionally intelligent like for Chinatsu to instantly read the situation with Hina and want to get out the way and vice versa, good stuff. Really good episode here and can’t wait for next one!

A big Hina episode this time, and understandably so after how the last one ended, but what surprised me is that Hina straight up confronted Taiki and Chinatsu about it right then and there instead of keeping that she found out a secret, I gotta respect that, totally thought this would lead to some drama, not that I don’t like me some tasty drama but I like how this played out. But that’s not to say Hina wasn’t thrown off her game because of this discovery, because that was pretty much the whole episode lol, and it was doubled even because of the good luck charm Taiki got from Chinatsu, pretty rough way to find out you have feelings for someone, I feel for Hina here.

But I absolutely wasn’t ready for the part where Hina nearly twisted her ankle, I audibly gasped and had to pause after that lol, I thought we were about to enter a Hina depression arc with that, but thankfully it wasn’t anything that serious and Hina was able to walk on the foot again in no time, and she got some personal time with Taiki because of it, maybe she should be thanking that guy that got her foot hurt lol. And in the end Hina was able to make it to nationals and her relationship with Taiki is better than ever, but Chinatsu’s reaction to the new developments between Taiki and Hina are sadly what I was thinking, being that she feels like she’s in the way, that definitely hurts after the progress Taiki has made with her, but this does make me look forward to where things go from here, Chinatsu isn’t the default winner if she sabotages herself after all lol.

Massive respect for just outright asking them what the deal is with the living conditions, really plays into her character very well she also just saved an entire episode of misunderstanding. Definitely the best character in the show imo, honestly most of her own slump she got through herself, of course with partial Taiki support. She's a really strong character.

i love the angle to make this episode hina-centered, it really highlights her character and thought processes. it just makes her all the more likeable.

@Marinate1016 this is a romance anime so ofc i'm talking in a context of romance animes, and shoujos go for a lot of these cliches. This being a shonen doesn't mean i can't compare it to shoujos and i also never said this was a shoujo either. Good one tho, way to get yourself worked up over nothing

Oh boy... I thought this episode would hit right in the feels and it did...

Pretty bold of Hina to go directly to Taiki and Chinatsu and demand an explanation. Pretty glad they didn't drag this misunderstanding for a few episodes and just basically got over with it in this episode. It probably would've been worse if she hadn't found out what they were doing...

But man, I still feel bad about Hina. She and Taiki are probably friends for a long time and she developed feelings for him without even realizing it. And she still doesn't fully understand it, trying to suppress it or use excuses. But this makes me wonder if she would've realized this feeling at all if Chinatsu wasn't in the picture. I'm guessing she would've spent her whole youth without confessing to Taiki in any way. So, I think Hina being hurt by/jealous of Chinatsu kinda helped her realize her feelings for Taiki which is very ironic.

It's great that Hina won the prefectural tournament. After that "injury," I thought she'd be a goner through mental stress and worrying alone. But she got her feelings together pretty quickly. Tho she still has the nationals to worry about. My only complaint is they didn't show any of her performance which is lame. But hey, since the nationals is coming up maybe they'll show her rhythmic gymnastics performance there, whatever episode that might be in.

That ending was so ominous. It seems like Chinatsu is going to be the one getting the wrong idea. Oh no. I wonder how long it'll take for her to fall for Taiki. Ig it's not easy for a senior to fall for their junior. I mean, why would they? So, I'm wondering how Taiki's going to progress his relationship with Chinatsu.

It's been barely 6 episodes but I can say that I love this anime. Can't wait for more.

Think he’s just pointing out than in a lot of shoujo it’s a common trope. You don’t have to be so pressed about it they aren’t wrong.

THIS EPISODE WAS SO GOOD OMG. We got so much depth with Hina Chono and how she really feels about Taiki and even referred to him as the judge when she described her situation as unfair. So now we know she is locked into the love triangle. BUT WE NEED CHINATSU KANO TO PULL UP WITH SOME HEAT. I gotta know what she feeling!!!!

@joshlill So it'S not a common trope in shonen? what about rent a girlfriend, Nisekoi, A Couple of Cuckoos, Domestic Girlfriend, Masamune-kun's Revenge, Roshidere, More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers. all have this trope and all are shonen. don't act like shonen romance doesn't have shitty tropes.

An episode fully dedicated to Hina is one that I fully welcome. Considering how the previous episode ended, I'm glad that she was able to confront Taiki and Chinatsu about their living arrangement very shorty after finding out about it instead of waiting another day to talk about it. At least that way, it kept the drama down a few notches.

Despite that, it did effect her practice routines which did make some of her friends a bit concerned. Seeing her shed tears did surprise me a bit. Either way, she did tough it out and was able to figure out the reason for her struggles and, inspired by Taiki's push for his own goal, she was able to get back to her top form, smiling away so perfectly.

Then came that moment where she very nearly twisted her ankle, which had me panicking and wincing at the same time. I'm glad that it was nothing more than a bruise, but I do respect Taiki for rushing in to help her out. Taiki then wished her the best of luck for her upcoming qualifier performance, which she responded with a beautiful smile in return. =)

Thanks to that inspiration, she was victorious and has made it to nationals. Not only that, but it does look like Chinatsu has picked up that Hina likes Taiki in the same way that Hina knows that he likes Chinatsu. This love triangle is going to be an interesting one to follow alongside seeing how the three perform at their respective sports from here on out. Looking forward to more!

Disgusting. Dear author, what are you trying to do here? Is your intention making me seethe—because clearly you're rather talented at that. You build up a character that was unequivocally crafted for a loss, and then you piece her together significantly better than the main heroine. Loathsome—this is less than second-rate writing, makes me want to vomit harder than my drink composed of nothing but raw alcohol; if anything, the author was successful at making me care, which is unfortunate because this whole plot-line is shameless predictability. Begone.

Hina might have to join the Makeine club one day but at least she made it to nationals for now so good for her!!! And she's going to fight instead of running.

I guess she's the Lemon of this story (national level talented competing athlete with a lot of expectation placed on her) though the guy she likes is also a sports person.

Damn a beautiful Hina focused episode, the way Chinatsu said that him and Hina would be a perfect couple is so true. I literally don't know who to route for since they are both amazing even tho it's kind of obvious that Chinatsu is endgame since Taiki only has eyes for her. Another series where it's gonna make me sad for a great girl losing, but at the same time happy cuz I also love Chinatsu too. God why they have to make them both look so good, I love and hate love triangles at the same time, but without them it wouldn't be as interesting and good.

Anyway this episode rly made me sad cuz they made Hina look so amazing that it was depressing to watch her realizing her feelings, she is also more my type which makes it even worse seeing her sad even tho I somehow like Chinatsu more, probably cuz of development so far, but for this episode only Hina definitely got the edge making her my favorite there, this is kind of like Oregairu all over again, but there I only liked 1 girl the most tho

Nah, total cinema 🚬

Kyou is the perfect example of "always the spectator, never the protagonist" haha

Now, it seems like Chono has finally realized her feelings, which I love, while Taiki is totally in his own world and would never imagine this in a million years. But here’s the big question: if Chinatsu is so focused on basketball, is she really going to get involved? OBVIOUSLY YES! She’s literally the main female lead, lol.

The interesting part is seeing how her role develops and, of course, how she’ll get closer to Taiki.

The hard thing about these kind of love-triangle rom-coms is that you know that main lead is going to end up with the female main lead which was introduced first but still you continue to witness the losing heroine's heartbreaks, hardships, tears and the support she provides to the main lead despite herself getting hurt.
This thing really makes me sad but well still watching...
