The control these guys have on their car is insane. Bumping multiple times in rain while cornering and not crashing, nuts. Ikeda san continues to give easy to understand explanation for the whole race. And then there's my man Kanata drifiting like madman in the rain. Also Yo Keisuke appeared again.

Fantastic racing this episode, Kanata is just on it and the wet conditions won't stop him from making progress up the order.

s2 really has started to focus on the racing a lot more than s1 and it is nice. the rain is honestly a nice element, thought they need to stop the fanservice

Ikeda-san basically confirming what we could already guess: the rain plays well into Kanata's favour, whose power handicap is practically nullified. Then, Kanata's driving confirms that it's not just that, his skills now shines the brightest, while other drivers' lack of skill is sorely exposed as Daigo's accident demonstrated. Kanata's not alone though, as Sawatari proves his worth too by humbling the ever so proud Michael, with his sister commenting on it, if can call a proper roast a comment, that is.

I keep being disappointed in the OST, both compared to Initial D and the previous season of MF Ghost. Hopefully, it'll improve in the rest of the season.

It’s really like nobody realizes how prevalent race queens are in racing. It’d be unrealistic NOT to have them in this show

crazy dangerous to be bumping around like that in the rain, ballz of steel for a dogfight like that. rip to the lambo for going out like that and in a ditch, that's so rough.

its the little things. like how the engines sound different, the camera moves, the way the road surface zips when in view. this is superb

i realise some folk scorn the race girls part of the story, i don't. They have a realistic visual quality, there is an intention to show them as people not objects, they are involved in the story and the objectification in story feels realistic - and realistic portrayals are important, even if they leave a view uncomfortable.

i always skip when angles appear on scene , i just dont care about some sexy stuff like i watch this for races (in which something happens after a long time period so you get just scenes of cars driving one after another then kanata or anybody else passes someone and thats it for another 10 minutes). only reason this anime gets good rating because of intial d , sequel as it is is bland and boring with a lot unnecessary stuff

@CyStarkman Yes, grid girls do exist in real life and the way theyre portrayed is realistic, especially in Japan, where they actually ask these uncomfortbale questions. However, grid girls usually make an appearance at the start and at the end of a race. I think that is what annoys a lot of people, its unnecessary to give them so much screen time during a race. So its all for fan service and that gets tiring.

You have to give credit to Sawatari and his brave overtake against Beckenbauer. Both guys were trading paint a bit with their contacts in the death zone, but Sawatari nailed it. The OST during this part was excellent, too.

Same goes for Kanata as he took advantage of the vertical G shift on a tricky left hand corner which caught the Audi R8 driver napping. We even got Keisuke's viewpoint of it, which was a nice touch. =)

However, we did get our first DNF, which was for the Lamborghini Huracan. Daigo did his best, but he couldn't stop his car from spinning out and binning it into the ditch. Thankfully Daigo himself is okay, although I think his ego has been bruised for crashing out like that.

With more or less half of the race gone, I still see plenty of overtakes happening in the rainy conditions if this race. You can't rule out someone else spinning and/or crashing out. Here's hoping that Kanata can continue his charge. I think a 5th place finish for him is definitely possible.

gotta love that the damn main character basically hast the least screentime and the passes he does are the least interesting. he just kinda drove past the yellow car and the white one spun out on its own.
and the music while not bad, doesnt do much especially with how they time them to whats going on the screen. for the top place swap the song had played for like a minute before anything happened and after the pass you couldnt appreciate it because immediately the commentator started explainig what you just saw happen.

also how didnt the car that spun out just like fly off the mountain? these guys are probably going like at least 160kmh but he kinda just flopped over the little drop as if he was driving 20kmh max. not to mention its slippery from the rain.

Luckily these cars are so safe they don't need any safety precaustions, like rollcages, helmets or racing suits. It's almost surprpisng most seem to be using their seatbelts....

Makes you wonder how this utterly amateuristic racing series apparently got such worldwide popularity, despite having only three somewhat capable drivers, and regulations that make no sense. I bet it has very little to do with the actual racing, but more with the Assngel Cam.

Intense overtaking there between Sawatari and Beckenbauer, though not necessarily a dogfight. Sawatari just wanted to put the 'german cyborg' in his place and show him that an emotionless, mechanical-like driving would not allow Beckenbauer to win over Sawatari, whereas Beckenbauer himself was not particularly trying to block Sawatari from passing him and merely put in more effort than usual to re-adjust his Cayman. Those vehicular contacts would have been diabolical if it had not been for them both being able to handle their cars.

Meanwhile, elsewhere, Kanata managed to overtake the R8 with its NA V10 during an apex and at a sudden decline as well, even with a dorifto!
On the other hand, the same V10 in the Huracan being driven by Oshi, spun out and landed halfway into a ditch. What a shame, the Huracan has the best engine noise out of ALL the cars in this stage of the race. Even though the R8 got the same V10, it just doesn't sound the same.

Sawatari's Alpine is now in first place after overtaking Beckenbauer with a few bumps in the death zone.
Attention is also on the 86 which has held on in the group battling for third place despite its underpoweredness. At the right moment, Kanata passes by, preventing the Audi from turning. Just like when Keisuke first witnessed the AE86 on Mt. Akina, Sakamoto doesn't expect Kanata to make the turn, but he drifts just like his instructor before him did. The commentators can't break it down accurately, but Keisuke, a veteran of street racing can.
Daigo's the Nakazato of MF Ghost, damn...that spin was tragic for him, and he's out of the race. Will Shun be able to catch up to battle his kouhai Kanata?

The Ashinoko track beating down by the wet roads, continue the challenge between Sawatori and Backenbauer, and this is quite the intense rivlary of the 911 and the Alpine, of which the Alpine came out on top in the Death Zone, despite numerous nudges of clashes that both drivers are at least skillful in not letting their cars crash out, for the lead position.

Back behind, the 6-car group is just as insane fighting at close calls, and Kanata fighting against Sakamoto's Audi R8 to get the slip chance through Takumi's signature drifting to gain the position.

But out of the heavy rain battle, Oishi losing his Lambo out of control, man, you can't not feel bad for a fierce competitor.
