I just love this remake. I've always hated remakes, as most of them are mediocre because they don't take a similar approach to the original. And the Ranma½ remake is outdoing itself in this regard. Both the comic moments, with dynamic scenes and good animation in the fights, and also the relationship between Ranma and Akane, because they fight so much, sometimes, such precious moments end up happening, it's like they're becoming "closer" to each other. The art here has also been phenomenal, and both the opening and ending are simply gorgeous. That said... I would like to rate this, but I don't like rating an anime with only three episodes(As of this post), so here I am, putting into words my gratitude to MAPPA for bringing this wonder back. For me, this is better than the original and on par with the manga.

While many prefer Orbe, Bleach, Dandandan or Re:zero...To finish... Best anime of the season? Yes or for sure?(you only have two options, so just accept it🙏)

(give your brief opinion about this remake, based on the first 3 episodes)

I think I like it better than the Urusai Yatsura remake but that's mainly because of the characters. Visually it's good too. Also the opening you mentioned I like a lot.

I do think rating as you watch is fine, I just update the score if it goes up or down overall for me.

It's great that Ranma is getting a remake. I wouldn't rate it as the best of the season There's a few I have been enjoying a little better than Ranma. No it's not Bleach or Re:Zero.

I love the remake but the dub voice actors don’t deliver the punch lines quite as well as the original dub voice cast imo

It's fine so far, but I always thought Ranma½ didn't hit its stride until the introduction of Shampoo and Ryoga (aka post-haircut).

In my heart is already AOTS because I know what gonna happen in the next 9 eps and I love it. But honestly Ranma ½ is pretty hard to enjoy for who is used to modern anime with a less episodic structure and more hype culture. In addiction, there are a lot of haters of this "remake" (actually re-adaptation of the manga) and they started to downvote this for nostalgia

Now I am not coming to conclusions BUT if this gets more then 48 episodes (like around 112 or something) then this might become the best adaptation of Ranma 1/2.

@Natsu_20_ I did some math in the past and we would need something like 7 cour (84 episodes) for a good adaptation IMO. It would be not a full one but with the right choice of stories it could be independent from the manga

It’s a comfort show. Something you don’t gotta watch seriously or get too invested in. I need more shows like that so I’m onboard with the remake.

I might even watch the original to compare if I find the time.

The main character is an asshole (from what I saw later on in the original version), so no. Also the show doesn't really have a story and doesn't go anywhere. It's also supposed to be adapted from an ecchi comedy manga, so the blu rays better be uncensored, but it's unlikely, so if it's censored forever, then it's a mediocre remake.

The second season of the Rurouni Kenshin remake is currently airing this season too.

So far, it's ok. It's one of those classic shows that I've always wanted to watch, but the outdated visuals and storytelling kinda kept me from it. Since it's an old show, it's to be expected that the humor is a bit dated, and there are some tropes that I'm honestly not a big fan of, but the story is not bad by any means. The characters are endearing and the updated visuals are really good. I'll definitely keep watching, but it's not even close to being anime of the year. Heck, it's not even in my top 5 of this season. It's fine.

After 5 episodes, enjoying this more than I expected.

I've known about the original but never seen them, and this is just silly and charming fun.

I don't even have nostalgia for this or for that era. Yes, I am old enough to (vaguely) remember the original playing on TV, but I've barely seen any pre-2010 anime. Can't really make sense of why I like this so much.

Overall, probably not best of the season for me, but still very good.

@perseii It's still my favorite after all these episodes...I'm in doubt between Natsume and Ranma½, both amazing in their own way.

And just out of curiosity, which is your favorite?

@utopia- Either Dandadan or Chi. Ranma might be my 3rd favorite. I'm also enjoying Acro Trip and Kinoko Inu a lot.

I love Natsume Yuujinchou, and I'll probably enjoy the new season a lot, but I haven't gotten to it yet (still need to finish Season 5 & 6).

@perseii Start right away natsume, this is wonderful!Based on your tastes, looking at your profile, I believe you will love this new season of Natsume.

I only put Ranma as a favorite because I like the comedic moments and the color palette used in the anime, it gives a sophisticated and nostalgic atmosphere, The story and characters themselves are also very easy to follow and at several moments I managed to laugh while watching this. Natsume, I like the sweet and relaxing way of approaching mystical stories about youkais and humans, I like that simplicity mixed with the nature of what is alive (human beings) and what is gone (youkais). It's really hard for me to decide which one I like the most between these two... As for your favorites, I also liked Dandandan and Orbe for me it's still halfway, because I can't like the characters from Orbe. Orbe for me is more like a historical book from any library, it's not that impressive since I already know the content in advance.

@utopia- Agreed that Ranma is probably the most pleasant looking show this season. Blue Box also looks very good, but it's very polished and sparkly, rather than warm and nostalgic (it doesn't help that I'm not digging the story and characters of Blue Box at all).

Dandadan is still the best looking show for me. I wouldn't call it pretty, but I really enjoy its chaotic energy, rough character design and slick directing.

@perseii The bad thing about Blue Box is definitely the protagonist being scared of his feelings. The exaggeration in the animation when only Chinatsu appears also detracts from the experience for me, it gives an air of exaggeration, you know...?

It's like you said (I think the same), Blue Box is visually beautiful but at times it lacks warmth enough to convey the characters' emotions to the viewer, and I think that This is due to the fact that they exaggerate the animation when only Chinatsu specifically appears.
