Viz media just announced on their Twitter that Steel Ball Run will be getting it's first official English release with the manga starting its English publication in Summer 2025, marking the first time that the English printing of the manga has gotten ahead of the anime. What does everyone think? Are you excited for an official release of arguably the best part of the series finally getting announced? At the current rate we could even have Jojolion by 2027, so the English releases are starting to catch up quite a bit

Just saw the announcement. Beyond hyped since it's clearly a sign there's plans for an adaptation (hopefully soon!)

wtf? In Italy we've had an official SBR tankobon release for AGES (which I have in full), how is it coming out so late in the US?

Always nice to see more Jojo. I only know a little bit about SBR through some of the games. Horses seem really cool.

@lynchkingsley
Here in the US we got part 3 before anything else and that was published between 2005-2010. It wasn't until 2014 that Viz started commitment to printing the entire series in English by starting to publish Part 1 and going ahead from there. Before the 2012 anime adaptation the only real things we had of Jojo in the US was the Capcom arcade game, the home console ports of that game, the OVAs, and that early translation of Stardust Crusaders.

Yeah, it's pretty crazy how far behind us English speakers are in terms of official releases. At the current pace it wouldn't be until 2030 that the English release would reach Jojolands and that is solely for the digital release as the print format versions are a few months behind

Does anyone know if it's gonna be those hardcover "omnibus" releases again or just a paperback single volume?
I'd love the hardcover ones since I have the other parts as that.

@Azuchi

It's more than likely going to be continuing the same format as usual: Weekly digital releases on the Viz website, followed by the 2-in-1 hardcovers a few months later.

I was so unbelievably hyped when I saw the announcement. While it would be nice for the English release of the manga to finally overtake the anime adaptation, I have a sneaking suspicion that we'll be getting a SBR anime announcement in the near-ish future...

Either way, I'm probably gonna purchase and re-read the SBR manga. It's at the top of my favorites list for a reason... ;)
