About me: I wouldn't really describe myself as an "otaku" or "weeaboo" or whatever, but I've certainly seen my fair share of anime. Currently obsessed with JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Touhou Project. If you want to refer to me with pronouns, I'd prefer you use she/her or they/them. My rating system includes a 0/10 and decimal point scores, but neither of those features are available on MAL, so all of my scores are rounded down to the nearest whole number out-of-ten (with the exception of 0/10, which is rounded up for obvious reasons, LOL). My namesake, profile picture and forum avatar is Mirai Kuromaru, a "figurehead" of sorts that I created to represent myself on more-or-less every site that I'm on. Name: Jade/Jaiden Not my real name, but it is a nickname I use IRL. Age: Adult Shocker, I know. Personality: INFP-A, apparently (whatever that even means) IDK, I don't really believe that personality is something that can be so easily categorized. Favorite genre: Comedy NOTE: I've noticed a lot of MAL users rank based on story/characters, music/sound and art/direction. And while good audio and animation are certainly a nice bonus, the way I personally enjoy fiction is based almost entirely on its story and characters (or jokes, in the event that it's a comedy). Also, with very few exceptions, I rarely score direct-to-video episodes of preestablished series, since I don't think they have any business being charted as separate entries on MyAnimeList. Similarly, I don't give a score to more than one cour of a single show (eg. SPYxFAMILY season 1 and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: STONE OCEAN), unless an official source considers that cour to be a separate season. 10/10 - Masterpiece. These are series that I think are so good that I can ignore any minor flaws that they may have. 9/10 - Near-perfect. The thing that usually keeps these series from getting a perfect 10/10 is a single flaw that is too egregious to ignore, such as a terrible finale, a twist that retroactively ruins everything that came before it or a poorly executed arc somewhere in the runtime. 8/10 - Pretty good. Series that I really liked, but for one-reason-or-another aren't quite worthy of a 9/10 or higher. Maybe they have a really great story, but the characters are just kinda OK? Maybe they have amazing characters, but none of them play off eachother in interesting ways? Maybe the story is terrible, but the jokes are really funny? Either way, there is usually something missing from these anime that don't make them feel like complete packages. 7/10 - Good. In-theory, this should be my most common score. These are anime that I liked, but wouldn't quite say that I "loved". They're serviceable, but they don't quite go above-and-beyond. 6/10 - Above-average. I usually find these series to be somewhat bland, but they tend to make up for it with one or two elements that I really liked, be it a good cast of characters, an interesting story or a really cool and unique concept. If one of those elements is done really well, they might even manage to squeeze into the 7/10 range. 5/10 - Mid. Either their pros and cons are pretty evenly-balanced, or else I just thought every element of the show was as bland as possible. Alternatively, if I was watching something that I'd score a 6/10 but it has an absolutely terrible finale, it might find itself ending up near the top of this score-range instead. 4/10 - Below-average. There were maybe one or two characters or elements of the series that I liked, but it wasn't enough to save it from this score. Oftentimes, I will never feel bored while watching one of these shows, but I'll never quite be entertained either. 3/10 - Boring. Basically just a worse version of 4/10. A majority of the runtime bored me to watch, but there still might have been one redeeming factor that didn't make it totally terrible. That's not always the case though... 2/10 - Bad. 5-3/10 aren't what I'd describe as "good" scores, but anything I score a 2/10 or below is absolutely terrible. Awful story, unintentionally detestable characters and/or an overabundance of tropes and genres I dislike are often found in these series. 1/10 - Garbage. A special kind of bad. Likeable characters are few-and-far-between in these series, the story is poorly-written and there isn't a single theme or concept that I liked. 0/10 - Don't watch. If there was even a single thing I liked in a bad show, that will usually be enough to save it from this placement. 0/10 is reserved for the shows that are so devoid of any enjoyment and merit that I felt they gave me absolutely no reason to watch them. Not every anime with this score was created by a horrible person, but if I find out that a series was created by a horrible person, it automatically gets lowered to this score, regardless of how good I thought it was beforehand, no questions asked. (I'm looking at you, Galko-chan...) A lot of people seem to think that an Anime 3x3 chart is a great way to get to know someone better, so I decided that I'd finally make one and put it on my profile. Below is the graph, along with explanations of why each of these series are important to me. Fantasy Kaleidoscope ~The Memories Of Phantasm~ (Top, left) - This was the anime that got me into the medium of Japanese animation, my "gateway anime" if you will. It also served as my introduction to Touhou Project. R.O.D The TV (Top, center) - My best friend persistently recommended it to me for two years before I eventually caved in and watched it, and I was not disappointed. Currently my favorite individual anime season of all time, and I think it will stay that way for the forseeable future... Nichijou - My Ordinary Life (Top, right) - One of my earliest anime, and the first one that I ever awarded with a perfect 10/10 score. It's also quite possibly the funniest piece of media I've ever watched. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (Middle, left) - While R.O.D The TV is my favorite individual anime season, this is my favorite anime franchise as a whole. It also singlehandedly changed my views on western music, exposing me to a lot of songs that I never knew I'd like. (Although there are still plenty that I have yet to listen to.) Pokémon (Center) - My very first anime and my introduction to the Pokémon series, which would later become my favorite franchise of all time thanks to the main series videogames. As a result, this is definitely the anime that's had the biggest, most positive effect on my life. Non Non Biyori (Middle, right) - Although I wouldn't particularly describe Non Non Biyori as one of my favorite anime series, it's definitely the series that feels the most like it was "made for me", if that makes any sense. Almost every character reminds me of myself or someone that I know, a lot of the episodes reminded me of my childhood, and Non Non Biyori Repeat episode 4 is, in my opinion, the saddest cartoon episode of all time (eat your heart out, Steven Universe episode 86, LOL). Forbidden Scrollery (Bottom, left) - Although it isn't my favorite manga of all time (it is close though), Forbidden Scrollery was the first manga that I ever read, as well as the first manga that I ever bought physcially, and it still holds a very special place in my heart. A brilliant introduction to the Touhou Project manga and a must-read for any fan of the series. Free! (Bottom, middle) - A lot of people seem surprised when they find out that I gave Free! Eternal Summer a 10/10, but there's a good reason for that. I watched this series during what was quite possibly the most vulnerable part of my life. I deeply related to Haru's struggles during Eternal Summer on a personal level almost as great as the aforementioned Non Non Biyori. Pop Team Epic (Bottom, right) - Pop Team Epic is at the bottom, as it deserves to be. In much the same way as you can tell a lot about someone based on their favorite anime, you can tell a lot about someone based on their least favorite anime as well. Pop Team Epic is my least favorite franchise that I've ever seen. Using pop-culture references in the place of jokes, featuring lazy visuals that I could legitimately have done better using only Microsoft Paint, and changing the main characters' voices, personalities and backstories every five minutes, Pop Team Epic is the perfect example of what not to do when creating a piece of fiction. Made using this. Made using this. Art by Alphes, Kaoru and Dairi. (For some reason, Zanmu appears to be missing from the template. She'd place in mid C-tier.)
*Some chapters haven't been scanlated yet/are officially considered to be lost media, but I've read everything else that's available.
Favorites and Least Favorites:
Note: Not all of these couples are canon.
My least favorite people who have a credit on MAL's database. Unlike my other lists, this is in no particular order, and if you ask me to elaborate further on my dislike towards any of them, I will likely deny. Part of me considered not putting this on my profile because it could be considered too controversial, but a bigger part of me said "screw it, I don't care". Adolf Hitler Shoko Asahara and the Aum Shinrikyo cult Issei Sagawa Chris Niosi Tatsuya Matsuki Hidekazu Tanaka Yutaka Yamamoto Koichi Sugiyama Kanye West Kenya Suzuki Kouichirou Itou Nobuhiro Watsuki Jamie Marchi Sean Schemmel Monica Rial
JK, there aren't any bad Touhou songs. Yuuka's theme from PoFV is probably my least favorite though, in case you were wondering... All of them. I had no idea where to put this section, LOL. This is a list of some of my various achievements in videogames.
I am genuinely proud of myself for this drawing. |

Then again, as you say in your tags, the Headless Rider episode and the first episode are really the only noticeable duds in the entire line-up, so any choice for "best episode" aside from those two would be goated.
Can we all agree the piano episode has the best story? I mean, it's not the funniest episode (which probably means it ain't in my top 5), but the actual narrative, even with all the jokes they added, is just really solid Courage the Cowardly Dog shit.
Lemme guess - your favorite episode was either the Shirotabi one or the track-and-field ghost? Just like everybody-else who watched this show, lol
To be honest, this caught my attention a little to read lol
It seemed interesting to me, I like to observe what a person will do in a situation they are not used to lol.
I'm watching Sakamoto Days too, it's not bad for now, but there are few episodes to judge lol.
Well, if you want a recommendation from me, I would say " Ameku takao " is very interesting and I'm enjoying watching it, and if you like romance and sports, I would say " Ao no hako .
Lol
What is Syd Craft about?
(never heard of it)
I wouldn't say that I think this arc is perfect, but the end of the arc is surprising, that everything went the way Kira planned, it was good.
Yes, I agree, Death Note is really incredible!
I liked the difference in decisions that A-Kira's story took, instead of trying to kill people like Kira, he goes to a different path, after "Money", which is interesting because a lot of people in the past usually killed someone for the "Greatest Good" of their Country/World.
Nowadays it's different, many still have this purpose, but most people nowadays are driven by "Money" itself.
So, implementing this detail in the story, I found it very interesting lol.
Are there any anime you are currently enjoying watching or reading?
