Looks like this episode ties in with themes related to decisions and fate. Although they managed to solve the monkey mystery, we also got to know the truth about the Golden Crow. It definitely felt like an eerie finale with the story that came together. Very interesting journey from start to finish imo, especially for Yukiya and Wakamiya. . |

Koume going to see her estranged mother Hatsune, who forced her father Jihei to do the act of transporting Sagecap and leaving the pretense of the human-eating monkey, which eventually caught the Underground's attention, she has been making him the scapegoat all this while, while abandoning him with another man so that she can wipe her hands off his slate. But with Koume's birth, all that her mother hoped for was slain to the ground, and the split second that Yukiya and Wakamiya came to save her from her trauma, that trauma has never really been gone from her heart. To add to the matter, her man transforming into a yatagarasu from Sagecap to calm him down, and Wakamiya getting stabbed in the process from Koume's mother with Sumio and the others coming one step too late, things took a really dark turn. Sumio taking a blow from Hamayu, as Natsuka hears Hatsune's plea about the human-eating monkey in the shrine who offered them Sagecap, their loyalty proves more adamant than the yatagarasu who left her alone. And the illusion that Yukiya had, it came true that Wakamiya could not kill yatagarasu as the true Kin'u, which Hamayu is already certain that he has feelings of a heart. Going back to the barrier that protects Yamauchi from the real world whose ghost fire are modern-day human cities, Wakamiya does his usual barrier retention to shield the past from the present, and when there comes a time where he could not do it anymore, Yukiya taking on the job on his behalf, entrusting the hardship that comes thereafter with joining the Yamauchi Guard. What a series, but a massively underrated one that has not been given the attention it deserves. Simply great. |

Man whattt right up until the last episode this show just kept cooking with the twists!! Just last week I’m in here slandering Jihei calling him a coward and traitor and whole time it was the mom!! Like yea he should’ve been better BUT I can’t put all the blame on him. Wow, way to totally mess with my expectations. Season 2 me NOW. We didn’t even resolve where the monkeys came from or what their original relationship with the Yatagarasu was, what the Yatagarasu really are and what’s going on in the real world. Every episode just gives us more questions than answer 😂 I get that Koume mom got a lot of internalised trauma from her dad slutting her out, but that still don’t give you the right to take it out on other people and betray your own people. People failed you, but that doesn’t mean the whole world is evil. Seeing her almost choke Koume to death was hard as hell to watch, she really would’ve killed her own daughter without any intervention. Koume first reaction being saying that she knew Yukiya would come for her is so cute. My shiiip AND THEN THE PRINCE GETS STABBED LIKE HELLO?? I’m travelling so I’m watching the ep a lil late and sitting in the airport and my dumbass screamed out loud 😂 thank God he didn’t die but man that had me scared for a min. So many twists in this show it’s bad for the heart. The Prince might be the true K’inu but it’s no way he doesn’t have emotions. He clearly cares for Yukiya, his best friend and his other close circle very dearly. He might be more subdued compared to the average person, but there’s emotions there. Thankfully he won’t have to carry that burden alone anymore now that Yukiya fully pledged his support! I mean man what a full circle moment. Yukiya who wanted nothing to do with the center just at the start of the cour now knows the best way forward is by the prince’s side. AND THE GHOST FIRE WAS HUMAN CITIES??! Man I really need season 2 to see if we have the Yatagarasu and humans interacting and to find out more of the lore. They ended right as this was getting good. Without a doubt the most underappreciated show this year. Incredible from start to finish. |

Very sad that it ended, I didn't have high expectations but it turned out to be a hidden gem, I couldn't wait for the next episode every time. I don't have much hope for a second season as much as I would like one, I hope the manga version continues to be updated since even if I wanted there doesn't seem to be an English version of the Novel. |

The mother was broken from the start. The way she looked undaunted confronting Natsuka was quite something though. What she has done is irredeemable but it's yet another case of society making a villain. So Wakamiya can't kill the yatagarasu after all as it was hinted before and he himself said it too. Things turned quite dramatic with him getting stabbed but he made it through. Fitting way to end the season with Yukiya pledging his loyalty to him. Took him the entire season but it's finally done. Also Koume just left like that? I hope she'll reunite with Yukiya again someday. The ghost fire were lights from modern day civilisation lol. Such a simple but effective presentation, this anime always gets me with these. Fantastic season overall and one of the best in recent years. Very unique and interesting setting which is well executed too. Loved it and I absolutely want more of this. |

Thinking back to the cave-diving episodes as well, this arc seemed a bit too reliant on monsters, reckless action and pure luck, but it mostly worked, I think. Satisfying conclusion, with fascinating possibilities for Season 2. Is this going to get one..? This show brought me so much joy over two seasons. Might be anime of the year for me. |

The ghost-lights suddenly translating into (or rather, becoming) city lights was the cream on top *cheffs kiss* Also wakamiya shifting his arm for the pledge was also a nice addition, this anime was truly 2024's best anime of all for me. I hope it gets enough attention for the books to be officially translated into english and for the anime to get a second season asap! My craving for more Yatagarasu is soo severe!! |

This anime never disappointed me, not even once. It's a 10/10 for me and one of my favourite ones. BUT why is no one talking about Koume at the end of this 20th episode? Was it just me or did she look very suspicious, with her little smirk and head hidden? |

Pretty weak as detective series. Prince knew almost everything and could do everything solo. Yukiya is useless. No sakuga, no good fights, no good drama or good romance or good twists. I predicted every single twist. So it couldn't surprise me at all. Lore is pretty shallow. I thought there is a whole world with different folklore monsters/animals but sadly no. I had many hopes for this in the beggining, but Yatagarasu lost it. 6/10 probably |

@KANLen09 but wait, it wasn't Jihei who turned into a Yatagarasu in this episode, since he was found dead in a previous episode, right? That guy who turned into a Yatagarasu was Koume's mother's new man wasn't he? |

A really good and complelling story. Every week i was waiting for the episode much more than "bigger mainstream" shows. This was truly a "hidden gem" category. Something that is not hugely popular but people "who know their stuff" will remember for years. Great characters, great gripping story... i'm just sad i can't get more of it. |

Man, I would love to see how Yukiya and the daughter (forgot the name) relationship will develop. Then, I realized there was no "romance" in the genre. I feel slightly disappointed bcs they just left the daughter without true resolution, but I guess they kept her for the next conflict or something. I'm craving for more :( |

@Nanami There was obviously a romance towards Yukia from Koume's side, and in the novel Azusa had noticed it and told Yukia about it, when Koume did not stay in Taruhi and then left for Shimobara in search of her mum. But Yukia has no feelings towards the girl and doesn't understand her. So, in the end Koume went away, because she has no hope to get together with Yukia. Maybe, because she knows he has to make a career, and she is a daughter of criminals, although she's not at fault herself... |

@KisMaczka well, that was a little cute. Like, Yukiya was "How do I even talk to a girl my age" and "No girls, just my Taruhi homeland thoughts". Thus I said "he needs to grow up a little more", because they obviously wasn't on the same page. But seeing how our boy is doing growing up I'm looking forward to their relationship! Also, someone mentioned that last scene with Koume was "suspicious". I got it like the girl chose to distance herself, seeing all the heavy atmosphere and whole mess. And let the boy go his own way-- for now. And have her own new start. |

@bbkikie Ichiryuu is older than Yukia, so he enrolled to Keisouin Academy one year earlier tham him (yatagarasu boys can go there at 15). And he did not expect to become his "enemy"'s senpai! Maybe, Koume was just showing her disappointment in life and Yukia with this grin... By the way, Wakamiya's and Yukia's "love stories" are alike, both were involved with innocent girls having criminal parents. Only Nazukihiko got married and Yukia did not. |

@Nanami ah yes that was me about the Koume "suspicious" scene, which I didn't know how to interpret - didn't know if it was meant to look suspicious or if it was meant to be a genuine smile to be back in a "simpler" life. Thanks for your insight, that would make sense she would distance herself, because with all the explanations we got about her mother and father, I don't see how she could have been involved in the whole thing, and therefore it wouldn't be a suspicious scene at the end :) |

@ExcelDog the thing with Natsuki (the brother) is actually a really cool thing as the objective of the thing was to seek out anyone who'd plan on murdering Wakamiya - anyone pledging allegiance to Natsuki were those who hated Wakimiya as a prince and wanted to deal with him, faking the existence of a rebellious group under Natsuki's name was genius to seek out these people, and Natsuki who was on his brother's side could identify those people more easily and protect his brother |

First 13 eps with the whole political Palace Drama was almost flawless in writing. This second arc was obviously not as good and a bit too reliant on cheap action scenes with last second saves but overall still fine and with some nice twists. It mainly introduces some new interesting characters (KingSaku, Koume etc) and a lot of unanswered question. Who truly was the monkey that knows the Prince under the well? What truly is the relationship between monkey and crows (they forgot inconvenient truths?)? How long before the inevitable war/interactions with humans? |

Guess I'm off to read the novels. This was a fitting finale imo and I loved that the last picture at the end was of a younger Yukiya and Nazukihiko. Their relationship has grown by bounds through this series and it's nice to see their beginning called back to. I'll be waiting on a second season. So many unanswered questions, but I really found the worldbuilding incredible in this past arc. |
