| I read the title, '"The Preparation" and I knew it's gonna be one of those episodes again. Honestly, if I was marathoning this show and not waiting for new episodes weekly, I wouldn't mind episodes like this. But this season there's just too many of them. |

I suppose you are here to ask for my help? 5. Rimuru: I was hoping you'd take care of various things, such as restaurant staff, logistics, etc etc 6. Merchant: Sure i can do that. How big of a crowd do you expect to attract? 7. Rimuru: I'm planning on building a colosseum that can hold 50k people of various walks of life. Ofc they all require lodging and sustenance. A few of my own fill work in the various places but we require a big more help. 8. Merchant: hmm, hmm. I can help with that. I'll contact your officers/secretary to coordinate and promote the festival among my contacts. 9. Rimuru: That would be great, Thanks for your help! 10. Merchant: No problem! I'll get right on it. +- ~5 min of the episode. This is a perfect summary of the episode and everything wrong with it. It seems to be a common issue with light novel adaptations where they are determined to be 'accurate' by adapting every line of dialogue written. All this does is make for horrible pacing as whilst it may be fine when read quickly at your own pace it becomes awful when characters slowly speak it out loud to you in an episode. I think in this case a better adaptation would cut back on a lot of the dialogue from the novels and focus on telling the core story in a unique manner (after all that is the whole point of being animated). |

| TRASH! I've been slogging through the tedium with everyone else this season but this episode felt like straight filler. It's been downhill for a hot minute with every episode being politics, meetings, and explainers. Any conflict introduced is immediately resolved and I keep feeling robbed of my time. It's like watching unskippable cutscenes from a bad world-building game. This episode in particular though... *shivers* Seriously, what was the point of any of these scenes?! Cook from another world finally owns his own shop and Shuna's cooking convinces him to abandon it? Veldora wants to make open a noodle stand but people will be scared of him so give him an alias! FUCKING GENIUS! Who the hell is giving this episode 5 stars?! |

| Uuuh, are we sure this isn't Slime Diaries? I'm used to chat episodes, but this one feels different, made me remember Slime Diaries, it's like if the direction team was completely different. They make festivals all the time (supposedly), I don't get why this should be all that different, but whatever, we are finally going to see Milim again! And I think we will also see the kids again, they are in every opening but the last time we really saw them was at the end of season 1 lol I always thought that merchant dude was secretly evil and trying to use Rimuru, but now I see he is a bro, and his guard is literally Guile from Street Fighter lmao Btw I have to say it, the new opening SUCKS, the song is terrible. Tensura always have amazing opening songs, even Slime Diaries had a banger opening, but this new one is total shit, what a let down. Oh, and the ending sucks too, what the fuck was that weird ass powerpoint presentation with ugly ass art of Shuna in what seems to be our world? That was baaad. |

| It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it, is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service. |

| Direction felt super dynamic this episode, which is nice since some people were constantly complaining about the "meeting" scenes being pretty static in terms of visuals. Not to mention even the dialogues felt fast-paced. But of course there will still be people calling this episode "the worst one yet" smh. Anyways, entertaining episode as usual. Looking forward to seeing how this festival will go. |

Time for a new OP and Ed.. I think they’ll grow on me. The OP visuals at least are awesome, just think the song is very slice of lifey which probably isn’t what people want rn.
I’m telling the anime onlies rn who come here every week to complain about worldbuilding, yall might as well take a month off of the show because for the next 4-5 episodes it’s gonna be worldbuilding. So if you don’t like it and want the action, come back around the end of July.
As for the episode itself, I thought this was one of the best and most fun set up eps they’ve done yet. It wasn’t just sitting at tables or boring headshots, nice use of motion and Rimuru and Mjollmile’s conversation in general was just better than the previous ones. Nice fun tone and introducing things like fast food, training venues, the martial arts tournament etc are all just great ways to generate revenue and good will for tempest.
It’s a real life policy too that a lot of cities implement when having events in order to entice people to come back and spend money on future visits. Mjollmile with his expertise would be a great chief financial officer for Tempest.

BTW, part of the conversation... is pretty much the merchant going "Sasuga Rimuru"... while making it sound like everything is already fully thought out by Rimuru. (when in fact, 50% of the stuff... Rimuru is going "as it just comes up in the moment" LOL) . (also... elf slaves huh... will this become a future revisiting topic? sounds like some sort of H-doujin scenario...) (Rimuru is pretty ok with it tho... I think he's gotten used to all the fantasy world tropes after spending a long time in this world...) . Sigh... ppls are complaining about dialogue again... if you've been complaining since 1st cour (we're in 2nd cour), why are you still even here? just to complain more? |

| Wow, way to start off strong on the second cour of this season. The production value skyrockets from the second the runtime is live. I could kind of tell. That it "appeared" a bit more stylized, put together, and better animated. Then we are hit with that OP. And its just such a massive difference from episode 1 of this season. That I don't know what to say. The OP is easily the best that slime has had. Across any season or OVA/ONA. Then you have examples of in-episode scenery...  Which could have been just a simplistic rendition of Rimuru. To pay tribute from his very grateful servant. Etc etc. Instead was shown as is. In all its glory. From multiple angles and vantage points. Defining that this time around things are going to be different. The quality is on a whole different level. And, I look forward to seeing it maintained through the rest of this run. |

| While I've said before that I don't mind the worldbuilding/meeting episodes this one wasn't as good because it was more about festival planning rather than strategy discussion on the next battle/foe but at least Milim was mentioned as I haven't seen her in a while. On a side note I was surprised to see Guile make a cameo from Street Fighter lol. |
| The style/direction of this episode was amazingly different than the previous episodes. It's like watching another anime. There are things about it that may be bad, but that is depending on perspective. I liked the dynamic camera movements, a cheap but effective trick to create extra movement and fluidity in the animation. Overall, it felt more comical and slightly cool, which is nice. The show is certainly leaning towards modern styles/tastes. |
