Damn I love the sakuga in today's episode. 🔥🔥

Also next week will be the final episode. 🤧

Anyways it's really convenient watching it every week live on twitter. 11th week, 11th episode and 11th live. Gonna miss this moment after the final episode ends. Looking forward next week.

Episode was alright for me, was a bit bored at times but it was nice seeing some time given to the side characters and how much they want Kafka back in their Division, not even questioning much about the fact that he is a Kaiju given how he helped some of them and was naturally a good fit for the squad. Some faces looked pretty goofy in this episode and not quite consistent (which has been a lot for this anime in general, given how IG are responsible for this), but at least the final bits of the episode looked the best with Kafka becoming more and more absorbed by the kaiju in him to act like Kaiju no. 8 as Kikoru's father continues to push him to the brink. Fairly bog standard writing as expected after the previous episode with the predictable direction of Kafka being tested but it is what it is. A bit slow of an episode but not too bad either. Mina is on his and the Division's side in this instance which is unsurprising but good to see, wish there was a lot more to her character though since she still feels too bland to watch.

As expected, you've got the out of touch boomer higher ups debating on what they should do with Kafka. Experiment on him, turn him into a weapon, you know, the rational options lol. It's nice to see that everyone in his division believes in him and doesn't harbor any negative feelings after learning this secret.

Man, those last several minutes were intense. Kikoru's dad is a fucking menace, Kafka was on the ropes the whole time. Now it looks like Kafka has lost control so yea, this is going to be a crazy finale next week. Top notch animation during that scene too.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

Another episode where there is nothing to write home about. He lost control of the kaijuu power now, but next episode he will regain control again. In the end, kikoru's father will recruit him. The same typical stuff.

Only 1 episode left, I wish that something unpredictable and amazing happens, and saves this series from becoming another average shounen. But I'm probably expecting too much from this series.

My doctor has always told me to smoke. He even explains himself: “Smoke, my friend. Otherwise someone else will smoke in your place.”

To me it seems like this show is devolving.
It started with an interesting concept with a middle-aged man from the clean up crew, but neither his age nor his profession matter much, so far.
The world felt mysterious and almost scary like AOT, yet now the MC is mostly fighting opponent after opponent like, dare I say, HnK!
Kafka was almost fully in control before and only now he's starting to lose it?

In general, the vibe I'm getting from the show is that it wants to be a generic battle shōnen with a little above average animation.
There is nothing wrong with that, but it's hard for anime of this type to get something more than a 7/10 from me.

Kafka as Kaiju No. 8, being in the Defense Force alarms the higher-ups in need of his capture to assess him further, which said man is escorted by Mina to HQ personally, thinking that his life is all but over. However, Mina also acknowledges Kafka's good deeds in the 3rd Division as he is transferred to Ariake Maritime Base, though also does the same that she remembers his promise, willing to wait upon him for the time to stand by her side as she gathers all the evidence to secure Kafka's release ASAP. But when it comes to Kikoru learning from her Director General father Isao with a Kaiju killing her mother, that is easily one of the most bone-chilling moments of the series, with the speechless look on her face that whatever she says, will not waver his heart.

That said, Mina keeping Ichikawa and the rest informed about both Kafka's fate of being transferred to another division, plus the intention to split them up, it's an order that they cannot retaliate against. And him having the coincidental meet of Isao personally handling his execution with a specialized Kaiju No. 2 suit, Kafka has no choice but to face the strongest person in the Defense Force, even if it means forcing him to evolve into Kaiju No. 8 to face an alike Daikaiju-class monster...and embrace the Kaiju within it to go all out as a fully clothed monster.

The penultimate episode, setting up for greatness.

I hope that document proving that Kafka is good, will have a mention that a kaiju's whatever-that-is got inside Kafka. There was lots of silent sitting in this episode, and not any interrogation sitting.

Kaiju No.2: Japanese Man 1 : RUN! IT'S GODZILLA!
Japanese Man 2 : It looks like Godzilla, but due to international copyright laws - it's not.

Kafka entered safety mode.

Ok still what is that fly kaiju thing that made him a Kaiju? Like what is that? Did someone make that? How strong is it if it can make a human a 9.8 daikaiju. Also damn blond girl's dad is tough. Though he might've just awoken a tiger/dragon and is going to get himself killed. Dude is too old to be fighting now. Still though without these numbers weapons how the hell did they take down the first and second numbers? I guess sacrifice of a bunch of people to take down the first one and then use the first one to make the first number weapon to take down the second one?

Hoo boy. Things are really getting exciting.

I like how everyone in the Third Division believes in Kafka. Including Mina and Hoshina. That's wholesome. I thought at least they would be against him at first. But this makes things smoother.

Wait, Kafka still retains the Kaiju core even in his human form? That's terrible news. No wonder Kikoru's dad wants him dead.

I think this is the first time Kafka went berserk. Of course, it happened while he was fighting a human. This won't end well for Director Shinomiya lol.

Excited for the last episode. Hope the rumors about a 2nd cour is true.

The bug thing that transformed Kafka into a Kaiju is still voiced by the late VA TARAKO it sounds like. Ig she recorded all her lines before she passed away.

Wow, this was really….cringe, cringe is the only word that comes to mind, huh. The Unit belief in Kafka seems really unnatural, but I guess it’s to speed things up in the narration, since it’s so derivative there is no reason to actually show every step of it. And, funny enough, the goofy ahh kaiju inside Kafka is presented as the new Kurama/Hollow that have already been done so many times…

Alright Kafka is gonna have to step it up. He started to piss me off when General Shinomiya was attacking him, because come on man. You can't have it both ways, either sit down and let him kill you or fight like your life depends on it. Kafka choose!!! This running and dodging crap obviously would never cut it. Idk what he was thinking, General Shinomiya was never going to take it easy on him. Going after a powerful Kaiju seems to get this old man excited. So how in the hell did Kafka think this was going to go. Like come on man, you gotta do something and because of his inadequacy now the kaiju side has taken over. Well good job Kafka you deserve a wake up call bro. All the other characters in this episode were great besides Kafka, the other members of the third division trying to stick up for Kafka was great to see. Honestly he saved the whole city so they should be raising hell to their superiors that want Kafka killed. Just saying they believe in him isn't enough, they need to scream it from the rooftops that the city would be a bomb crater without Kafka. If that isn't enough to stop his execution then idk what is.

Man... it was heartwarming to see that all of his friends still believe in him even tho the higher-ups want him dead. Even Ashiro believes in him. That was cute. But, it looks like his problems are gonna be 10x with Shinomiya's father attacking him with Kaiju No. 2's weapons and armory, while Kafka tried his best to hold back, the kaiju inside him took over and now he's lost control of his human form.

Can't wait for the next episode. This was an amazing episode. Loved all the people caring about him, still after all that happened. Hopefully, Kafka can gain control over his Kaiju form.

What an episode man. No good deed goes unpunished. Kafka saved their ass and still gets locked up and treated like a criminal. At least it’s good to see the third division still respect him and see him as one of them, but the top brass aka Shinomiya’s dad want him out of here.

It only took Kafka getting arrested for Mina to finally talk to him like they know each other 😂 I’m sure her assuring him that he can still stand by her side was some big motivation for him.

This whole episode gave me very strong Incredible Hulk vibes with Kikoru being Betty Ross and Isao being thunderbolt ross. I find it hilarious that he says anyone who can stop a bullet with their arms isn’t human, yet he uses Kaiju number 2’s power himself. Just as hypocritical as general Ross in the marvel comics.

Kafka showed as much restraint as humanly(pun intended) possible in the fight but there’s only so much damage even he can take before that dawg, or in this case, Kaiju, in em wakes up and comes out. “You finally showed who you really are” uh yes mf because you tried killing him 💀

This is really interesting though because even against Kaiju numbers 9 and 10 his body didn’t feel threatened enough to do this. Wonder how he’ll bring it back under control.

Also, speaking of Kaiju number 2 was that not a modified Godzilla theme they played during that Sapporo flashback?? I got hype as hell lmao. I’d love to see what the other Kaiju 1-7 were like too.

Animation went craaazy during the fight and what a cliffhanger to leave off on. I’m very excited for next episode which I believe is the finale? Need that s2 confirmed

I had an inkling when Hoshina said not to speak. Turns out the entire Third Division doesn’t see him as an enemy, and understands his actions for what they were. Hoshina even called him an idiot and made the entire Third Division salute to him. Now, that was satisfying.

Kafka almost thought Reno hates him or is angry at him, until Reno spoke out that he’ll be waiting for him. Mina gives Kafka the confidence that she’ll be waiting for him to stand by her side one day.

Aoi has a straight face but a good guy. Isao attacks Kafka with the support of weapons made out of Kaiju No. 2. Isao pushed Kafka too much to the extent the kaiju inside Kafka gained control over him.

Now that the kaiju inside is all set out for kill, will Kikoru’s voice stop him? Hope he doesn’t kill Isao next episode and end in a cliffhanger.

They gonna make a combat suit for Mina out of him kek. They'll finally be together.

Joking aside it's good to see his comrades have faith in him and specially Mina who still believes in him and wants him by her side. Isao's design looks off, he looked sharper and had more presence. In the anime he kinda looks more round? Anyway that end scene with the black aura was lit.

One last episode to go.

Sometimes its actually better just to let your savior live in peace even if its the monster rather than fully regret your action. The irony of the third division there....

Tho its good to see their desperate way to seek a support. I feel like Mina gathering more than just a report, wish her good luck with the retrieve plan, whatever it is.

So back to Kafka, dude man still have some humor and survival instinct at the same time. Now the last boss from human side gonna try to brawl Kafka, none other than Kikeru daddy himself. Kaijuu no. 2 get revealed, already exist since '72, but ended up as his suit. Now i am wondering the fate of number one, three, four to seven till this time....

Next gonna be final. Heard second cour, or second season is already on production progress. So without further ado, looking forward to see more of ossan adventure, as a kaiju no. 8

No one from the Third Division is having any doubts about Kafka??

It's heartwarming to see them stand by Kafka, but they sure are gullible and forgiving for an elite squad of kaiju exterminators. Some of them have already seen Kaiju No.9, who uses its human form to infiltrate and wreak havoc. How do they know these past events are not some evil elaborate kaiju scheme to gain the trust of the Kaiju Defense Force?

Even if they got over the fact that Kafka might not be a kaiju, Kafka still has been telling them bold-faced lies this whole time. I get that he was only "lying by omission" and was trying to avoid getting executed, he's the one who walked in through the door voluntarily and joined their ranks... I'd be at least a little disturbed and suspicious.

Also, that's some witch trial nonsense that General Shinomiya is pulling:

1. I throw you off a cliff.
2. If you survive, you're a witch. I burn you at the stake now.
3. If you don't survive, you're human. Congratulations. Now rest in peace.

What is this guy thinking? Maybe he'll just go "I was testing you" next week...

Well, at least Kafka’s squad, Mina included, believe in Kafka and understand he’s not a kaiju, but the higher ups are a lot harder to convince and the unfortunate part is that I can’t really blame them, Kafka certainly looks like a kaiju when transformed and even has a core like one, but ignoring his good deeds is still bad on their part. The worst part of the situation tho, is that Kafka has now lost control of his kaiju form when facing Kikoru’s dad, a bad time to find out that’s something that can happen lol, I know he’s the MC but now I’m unsure if he’ll make it out of this season alive, could be one of those bait things where he’s not actually the MC, I really hope he does tho, don’t want my boy Kafka to go out like this.

And despite being an asshole, Kikoru’s dad has some sick powers and I love the most direct Godzilla reference of the show so far with Kaiju No. 2, his design was pretty different but the laser blast from the mouth was very reminiscent of Godzilla, I wish we could’ve seen how they fought kaiju in 1972 but this was still a very cool scene, I’m glad they used that Godzilla sounding music for it too. And we got just one episode left, this has been a very exciting shonen anime, very well made too, I’m hyped for the ending of this season.

It's genuinely heartwarming how pretty much the whole squad warmed up to Kafka so much that missing him overshadows most resentment they have for him for keeping such a ballsy secret. Especially loved how Mina and Hoshina's own ways of expressing that while maintaining the image that comes with their ranks.

And as hype as Kafka officially letting the Kaiju take over is, that cliffhanger and the fact that there's just an episode left is so criminal bro

It was a good episode, but it's hard to watch a character you've been supporting since the start of the series face such a tough hurdle. I completely understand why the higher ups don't trust him, but it's tough to see. I really hope he's able to overcome this new dilemma of his where he might not be able to control his powers under certain conditions, but I'm not sure that's going to happen at this point. Guess we'll see next week.

It's frustrating that most anime watchers have the same take

"Oh he loses control, it's so predictable"...

Not everything has to be "different" or "unpredictable" to be good.

Predictable writing makes things easy to follow, not every show has to have a deep complex plot to stand out.

If you pay attention you'll notice that a lot of links are being established now, especially the clear fact that Kafka's Kaiju form seems to respond to the Daikaiju in Kaiju #2 made weapons/suit in front of him. There are so many questions that need answering, like why the Kaiju that infested Kafka is interested in the destruction of other Kaiju?

Was Kaiju #9 the one that killed Shinomiya's mother? The straight up unwillingness to negotiate with "Kaiju #8" shows how much resentment Shinomiya's father has towards the Kaiju. A lot of backstories that are waiting to be uncovered next season!

I personally like the bond that Kafka has formed within his division, and it shows by how they support him. Although they may not know the details of why he is the way he is, at least it is unanimous that they understand he risked it all to save them from that explosion, and that in itself portrays his human nature above all.

Can't wait for the last episode, enjoy this season while it lasts!
