This spinoff is so different I do not think it matters much. The story is inconsequential.

Everything that happens in this anime happens before the first season, but everything is so mismatched that it doesn’t really matter tbh.

I'd watch the 2 seasons + movie first, megumin felt more like a spin-off than a prequel

i would watch the first two seasons and the movie first. there are several call backs you won't get if you haven't seen them.

Watch the first season first. This spin off is necessary too so watch it as well. Don't skip peak isekai.

Although this is a prequel, I'd watch the main series first.

Narrative-wise, I seem to remember there being references to "future" Konosuba events in this one that will go over your head if you watch it first.

Enjoyment-wise, this is also way worse (in my opinion) than Konosuba and may deter you from watching the series entirely if you watch it first.

it would be better to watch the earlier series first bc this has many references to the main series you wont get otherwise

Just because something is a prequel doesn’t mean you are meant to view or read it in chronological order.

This is a prequel spin off. It’s not really necessary to watch. Though I would recommend it.
But then you should watch it after the movie, since it will spoil characters that will get introduced later on in the main series.

I think you should watch previous season before that it's a better experience that way

Outside of a very small number of exceptions, prequels are ALWAYS meant to be consumed after the original story.

I watched this before the main series cause i didn't know any better and honestly it didnt make a difference, the only difference it made was me liking Megumi more

I watched this after the main story and it merged together well. I’d recommend watching this after because it has some easter eggs for if you’ve seen the main series hidden in it

it's before the main series, but not a prequel per se. I think it was much worse than the main series anyway. I'd recommend starting with the main to avoid getting turned off of it.

as the others said, spinnoff/prequel is so different that it doesnt really matter, but I would reccomend you to watch it in release order(season 1, season 2, movie, prequel, also dont forget ovas) bcs season 1 is soo much more funnier that it will get you hokked easily

I think it would be funnier watch it later, so you can think "Ah, so that was their fault all along".

I would start with season one of konosuba because I am not sure if i would continue watching konosuba after watching megumin prequel first.

I think megumin prequel rely that people already like megumin and konosuba. I am afraid that without konosuba I would not enjoy megumin prequel as much as i did. ๐Ÿคท‍โ™€๏ธ

I think you should watch this as last season, nothing about main story or anything else but tbh i loved that season so much also cause i watched it as last, cause you start by knowing a little bit of Megumin and then you saw her story

While this happens before the main story I'd still recommend to watch it after the main series (and movie) because this a spinoff of one of the main characters, and I think you'll appreciate it more if you know (and hopefully like) said character from the main story.

I'd rather recommend watching with the release order. This whole spin off feels great as a complementary story to the main plot. Also, it's so nice to see some foreshadowing scenes, gags (or quite literally, flashbacks for the persons watching the spin off after the main story)

watch season one first, it doesn't matter much plot wise but there are a lot of little references and jokes that will not make sense if you start with this

If you want more background on who she is to the main storyline then yes but you can watch this as a stand alone. It’s Megumins story

maybe just skip it. really not worth the time. in fact it's actually better that the reason behind her motivation is not discussed

No shit sherlock. Even though MAL classified this as a spin-off it doesn't change the fact that the events happen before season one, thus essentially making it a prequel to season one.

Start with this. She’s so much fun in the main story, so much so that I was a little let down. It’s a nice setup to her character too.

If I watched this spinoff before attempting konosuba i would have sworn off the series and never given it a shot konosuba 10/10, this spin off either 4/10 or a 5/10 depends on my mood. As a show its absolutely mid…as part of Konosuba its god awful trash.

Would recommend you to watch season 1 as it sets the mood, moreover since it's an isekai it would me more appropriate to start with the introduction of the mc. After that you could watch the 2nd season or the spinoff.

Release order is always a safe bet since that's how everyone who kept up with each thing as it came out watched it, and how it was intended to be watched.
