Now that Ivy goes into town, we get to see folks there with different skills. It's interesting because Ivy herself seems to have some skills related to trapping and hunting.

I think episode did a fair job at fleshing more of its content with the world ficiton and fantasy setting. Oh and Ivy's slime friend is back again. Up to this point, it seems it's the closest thing she can call a friend.

A bit of a weird spot to end the episode on trying to make Sora looks like its eating Ivy.

Felt bad for the bakery lady with Ivy running away and never saw her after.

A lot to like about episode two. We got more info on the potions. We got giant ants. We got funky wanted posters. And we got a sense of how long it's been since Ivy last talked to anyone outside of the fortune teller. Ivy walking back and forth in front of the shops was so very relatable.

This also plays into her fear of people when she starts seeing the posters around the village. Logically, the villagers don't connect her with the person on the posters but, from Ivy's view, it was an unexpected revisit of her status as a runaway and more than enough to cause her to panic.

The ending scene was also very well done. I was not expecting them to show the wrist injury on screen. That alone has raised my expectations quite a bit. They if they are willing to faithfully adapt such scenes, then I have more confidence that they are willing to faithfully adapt the slightly darker parts of the show.
Note, the wrist wound is probably Ivy's worst personal wound she'll receive so don't worry about lots of blood and gore. More, they are willing to show more mature content whereas other shows, ex. Potion-Danomi, censored out a lot of the brutality and nuance from the LNs.

Based on the official twitter feed, we may finally get our flashback scenes next week.

For changes from the LN up to this point, see below:

This field mouse looks delicious ... wait a second, hold up just a bit ...

Anyway, i genuinely thought, that after that mild first episode we saw last week, we gonna get a full on flashback with Ivy's past, how she got where is she now and what not ...

Fortunately, instead, we (after some trouble) reached a town, with many people on top of that, which added quite a bit to the worldbuilding. Now speaking of, how is igniting something out of thin air, and creation of water out of nothing, a "basic, everyday" skill, lol.

Poor Ivy having to leave the new village where she was starting to thrive in, it was nice of that bakery lady to make some special bread for her just wished she could have taken it and not have to leave quickly in fear of being caught by the hunters

This is a surprisingly solid show. A little melancholy to be certain, but otherwise is pretty lighthearted (with a lot of scenes in the opening which suggest happier times are ahead). And I know this is an isekai, but it really does not feel like one at this point (mostly because of the lack of backstory so far and the odd way the past life interacts with our protagonist).

This definitely is another pleasant surprise for me. (Maybe I should not be surprised at this point when it seems like there are 4-5 per season.) I am not familiar with the source material at all, so I was afraid it would be a bit generic. Quite happy to be completely wrong on this point and based on the people's love for the light novels, my expectations are now very much higher.

I'm always saddened watching Ivy struggling just to survive but I'm rooting for her!

Anyway, our healing slime is here... next episode though.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

I swear, the OP sounds at times similar enough to The Light by Suara, I actually had to check the CD to see whether Kujira Yumemi was involved in writing that one as well. Not the case, but certainly did remind me of it enough to do so.

Man this is so depressing, and even with the fact Ivy managed to find a village of nice people but having to leave due to being scared of being found out about

I just can't wait for Ivy to just find peace at last and for the idiot village at the beginning to get what they deserve 😭

@WarriorReborn140 Oh yeh I didn't even realize that when the tree was spitting out men, but going back to look that is definitely them
If they were dead I wouldn't mind, that's one thing out of Ivy's mind which would stress her tf out of 😂
Considering the monster attacked Ivy, chances are it attacked the two guys too and is simply just slowly devouring them or something

Happy to see the animation seems consistent and is really good.

Sora and ivy have such an adorable relationship so far I know at the end sora was 100% trying to heal ivy not eat her arm.

This show has definitely surprised me the most this season I’m loving it

ppls saying why the series feels "so sad"

Didn't read the series title:

"The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash" LOL...

I think this series is meant to be pity-sad where her situations makes us feel like wanting to head pat and help her.

.

And... more random loot in middle of nowhere... seriously... this feels like those RPG where the hero just randomly wanders into chests of treasure in the middle of the forests with no explanation of where it came from, LOL.

.

Also... her PTSD makes her think eveyrone is out to get her even tho they don't realize her and is being nice to her... huh... (she doesn't realize that with all those wanted posters around, literally no one realized it was her... she could have literally just played it cool instead of acting SUS...)

For a slime which eats only blue potions (curative types), I suppose it is obvious they can also provide curative functions

So in the first episode I wondered what she ate and that was the first thing they showed in this episode (at least she's getting enough protein and $$ by selling the field mice).

This episode was good with Ivy slowly moving towards her main goal although as she was getting comfortable in that town I kept thinking something bad would happen and first it was the adventurers putting up wanted posters inside the town and then towards the end getting a brutal looking laceration on her arm from a monster tree. As others have also pointed out, I'm pretty sure Sora will be healing her arm and not eating her and that would explain why it only eats blue potions.

I know it definitely won't happen, but I think it'd be pretty badass and unexpected if instead of healing her, which is a bit cliche, Sora actually ate her arm but it grew back and she felt stronger, or something along those lines.

I really didn't expect this show to be as well done as it's turning out to be.

It really does feel like Ivy is living moment to moment with constant threats all around her, it's pretty heart breaking so far and I really hope she catches a break soon.

The cliff hanger is obvious but I guess the real point is to show her acceptance of what she thinks will be.

Next episode when she's cured will be very joyous

So far, I think the only thing holding this anime is back is how "hasty" it is. Like, I can tell that whoever created this story and worldbuilding is a very well educated person. They to have a lot of knowledge and clear idea of what this world is supposed to be. But they don't it enough time for things to sit. Like Episode 2 they wanted to present many concepts and a ideas and although they managed it mostly well, it feels a little hasty. But like it little mean just a little

I really must say that i like the little slime, though its pretty cliche to first have a slime tamed, but whatever.
It was a pretty decent episode with the sudden fight at the end and probably sora healing her, though the mc thinks he is eating her.

It's a trash dump next to the town. Most of the potions she finds in there are almost expired. Clothes are mostly torn, bags are pretty bad.

I am intrigued by many things. Why do the people of her village want her dead? Why do they care enough to pursue her for like 100 miles but not enough to offer a reward more that the selling price of 25 bundles of rat meat or buying price of 25 loaves of bread, ~$50USD. I don't understand it. I am very intrigued by the worldbuild, love the animation, the story feels like a very slow burn relaxed Slice of Life which worries me because it is only 12 episodes. The fact that it has a high animation budget and same day simuldub makes me hopeful it will get enough care and funding to tell the story.

EP 2

Honestly guys i dunno. if this ep doesnt work out i might just give up. or i might not but i dunno man.
On one hand i dont like dropping anime. on the other hand like, sometimes you just gotta give up

Ok thats a stupid cliffhanger wtf man
Like really guys.

Honestly the cliffhanger made me so mad.

EP 2 is still pretty depressing, though there were SOME positive moments but they kinda ruined it because of all the wtf moments.
Like are they just gonna do this every single ep? I get that the whole point is that the anime is different but this is just rough

I think it is a given that the slime will have healing powers. No one's gonna be fooled he's eating Ivy's arm at the end, I think.

Aina Suzuki's OP is just beautiful

Catching Field Mouses and keeping their meat as stock to sell, and their next expedition is to go to a nearby village. But with the horde of Huge Ants creeping up on them, both Ivy and Sora are safe for now, using as little resources as she can. And Ivy literally having wanted posters of her, the drawings of various poses sure are intriguing. Most importantly, she needs to sell field mouse meat, which she has plenty to match the fugitive reward of 100 dal. But again, she has to be wary of the people around her, which she manages to buy some bread for herself and Sora.

The dumping grounds are most certainly a godsend because of the potions, and Sora can help dispose only potions...only blue ones. The cycle continues in another village, only for the warrant posters to be more frequent, which scares Ivy quite a lot. But the perchance of encountering a monster and getting wounded pretty badly, will Sora heal her in time?

This show is quite the pleasant surprise in a low-key way.

- those wanted posters lmao
- needing 3 potions for a small wound, not very efficient (tho i guess the pots she can get are all "trash" so it's understandable)
- nice that she got some friendly people in the village (the meat and bread shops), must be nice having fresh bread after all that time running away
- the slime can eat blue potions, i wonder what it will evolve into (lol Ryoma flashbacks)
- damn it, the bad guys are in the village and there's the posters... time to leave again
- that's a freaking scary tree, and Ivy got hurt, oh no (edit: 20:56 ARE THOSE DEAD BODIES THE BAD GUYS? LMFAO... ZAMAMIROU)
- as expected, after eating blue potios, our slime should able to heal her wound, but i guess that's a cliffhanger lol

She found a nice village with good people, and then not long after has to leave for her own safety. Man this is sad. Then on her way out gets attacked by a killer tree and left with a bad injury on her arm- followed by getting eaten by her pet slime (imagine if they actually went with this, damn) which she thought was her friend. It's cute and wholesome, but this story isn't going to be all sunshine and rainbows is it.

I hope it continues to surprise us; this may very well be THE sleeper hit of the season.
