Well, there's just all sorts of mysteries in their world. While that forest didn't seem all that unnatural, it's still out of the ordinary given the case Will was dealing with.

Furthemore, I do like his chemistry with Meneldor. The two still has a connection this season and I hope their bond continues. Got a feeling this season will detail more and more lore about their world.

Will is right. The pace at which things are progressing is exceedingly rapid.

Will and Menel were visiting the forest to investigate the disturbance that occurred in the Beast Woods at Ethelbald's request. Menel, witnessing the devastating sight of withered trees and dead beasts, began to suspect that something had happened to the two ancient trees that ruled over this forest, the Lord of Oak and the "Lord of Holly. In order to uncover the cause, the two headed deeper into the forest, but what awaited them there was the general of the woods, or as they call it, a Cernunnos.

It's interesting observing Will's gradual departure from the "normal" life he desired is interesting. He has evolved from a mere adventurer into a hero and a lord. Now burdened with a throne he never truly sought, he finds himself distanced from those around him. This narrative evokes strong echoes of Frieren, despite the somewhat unremarkable isekai setting. I've always appreciated the slower, more contemplative episodes. While it may not quite reach the heights of the first arc, it is still unquestionably a worthwhile watch.

The bond between Will and Ethelbald continues to grow stronger with each passing episode.

The fight just end too quickly, it would be better if there’s at least one cool move to finish it off.

On the bright side, if Meneldor becomes a tree, and William's corpse becomes a fertilizer, does that mean they have sex?

Pretty cool that Menel will become a Lord of the Forest someday. I really like how this episode showcased more of Will and Menel's bond and friendship.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

Will and Menel continue their monster hunt, to which they encounter General Cernunnos awaiting their arrival. But backtracking this a bit, bth guys finding the Forest of Woods ravaged, and even worse, the two ancient trees of the Lord of Oak and Holly would not condede a transfer of power through the seasons. This is a task that only Menel can perform while Will awaits him for days to get the royal authority and defeat Cernunnos. Lord of Holly is saved and thanks both guys for saving the forest, to which he restores the once mad forest, but that the conseqience is that Menel wil turn into a tree when the time comes. The Rust Mountains, which have now become a haven for monsters, this Fire of Black Calamity will soon arise, and both Will and Menel must be prepared for it as well.

For Will to relinquish Menel to the king, he's not property. But for the situation with the Lord of the Mountains, Will takes it upon himself to investigate whats going on, which the both of them require Bee's information for a start, which that was a scene of cruelty. As fate intertwines between Will and Menel, they made it back to Torch Port, and journeys continue from there.

Over the course of all this while, Will and Menel's friendship is growing for the better.

It's not a show for people who expect something eye catching effect in the battle neither people who expect waifu materials as fanservice parts. Typical of Overlap's potential isekai.

Tbh, love every interaction between characters although it's slow paced. Menel got decent buff this time. Next, it's gonna be introduction of some dwarfs.

Ever since season 1, Will and Meneldor always had that BL wind around them.
Well we all know Will only simps literally and figuratively on Gracefeel.

The battle scenes were definitely too short. I'd rather have something a bit longer... 🚮

At the very least, they made Menel more manlier than before... but his shorts is still effeminate!!! DISGUSTED NOISES**
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

I'm just thankful for an Isekai that isn't a full on harem and has male friendships. Even if one is an ELF.
So bloody sick of the harem isekai trope.

Another lovely episode, i love the synergy between Will and Menel, such a good bromance, its a bit sad that if Menel doesn't die in battle he will not have aged at all while Will is on his deathbed, the conversation about it was so melancolic but they truly have a friendship for life (so lucky)

now i'm very curious about the rust mountain, wonder if it will take all season to see this arc's conclusion.

on a last note, the cgi is better used than in season 1 but its still too bad its there, i won't blame the studio, they probably don't have the budget and they only made 3 fairly mediocre adaptations before SNP

I'm also so glad to see the rating in the 7s, season 1 is criminally underrated and i hope atleast s2 can stay in the 7s until the end, if it doesn't welp i don't care that much, i love this anime and its world building, its just fantastic medieval fantasy in my opinion and nothing will change that.

Hmmm... got to say seems like they learnt from season 1 and they're now following the source material more closely. The manga adaptation is very highly regarded and they're even now using some direct scenes from it, just sucks that the low production is really holding back the anime. Would have really loved to have seen a direct adaptation of the manga version instead of their own interpretation on the novel.

I think you did but that's not your fault. The anime skimmed or rushed over alot of explanations & dialogues.

But basically, Will now manages torch port and is trying to clear away the demons that have overrun the land.

@Nero_Moonlight I think I understood that? I remembered him being given control of the land as part of the agreement for bringing aid and defense to it.

Yeah, it's seemed like the anime has skimmed over things a lot because we have gotten dropped into a lot of events that seem like setups for future events without much buildup for themselves.

Ep 1 felt a bit like they said "lets go to the magic school" and then blink they are there.
Ep 2 felt like they just suddenly were in a forest fighting with no establishment of why or where. Elf-boy (me no name good) got what sounded like a major title with very little fanfare. Then we got what seems like the setup for the season.

I'm guessing they were just trying to get to the season/arc setup but had some points they had to hit so they skimmed as fast as possible through them.

@CalorieEnchilada Oh yeah that's probably because these past 2 episodes are filler lol. First episode about the magic academy with Bee, second one about the beast woods with Menel (they cut some explanation with this one so that's probably why you're confused but I remember it's about two guardians fighting for control over the woods causing a disorder with the spirits & crops).

But other than giving depth to those characters & a bit of world building, those plot points aren't going anywhere. "The rust mountain" arc hasn't actually started yet. Don't worry though, I believe this is the last filler chapter.

@Nero_Moonlight It's a shame really since the mangaka was very clever with adapting those parts of the novel. Where Bee's story was meant to ease into the time-skip and with the Beast Woods, how Will manages his territory, the mentions of the dwarves and the foreboding of a future event. Makes for a wonderful introduction into The Lord of the Rust Mountains arc.

I can't even blame anyone for being so confused with season 2, since the events have now been muddled they keep switching between the novel and manga storyboards, introducing new information without letting it flow or settle in. Hopefully it'll sort itself out in time though, despite how I feel I want season 2 to be successful.

@Blazu0 Tbh, I don't think this season is any better than the first. The awkward looking animation is still there and maybe it's the poor execution but the show is boring to the point where I have to force myself to watch it.

It's probably still early to fully judge so I'll stick with a couple episodes before deciding whether to continue watching or not.
