The Rocket Model Tournament with Umika throwing her weight onto Kei, her Tatsuoka School of Science and Technology's model rocket is no slouch. But when it comes to their school, Umika feels like she gambled too much with her confidence that she immediately gets 2nd thoughts about their creation.

Even Raimon who saw the launch, knows that they have no chances of winning the tournament that she starts alienating everyone once again. Umika, being worried about trying to be like Kei, she is the complete opposite of the president who backs (instead of lacks) with confidence. The day goes by, and Kei happened to meet Umika to give a pep talk, though Umika is back to lamenting her own shortfalls, despite the 3 girls joining her. Umika has a place on Earth, though she needs to realize herself that everyone is helping her to take flight, just like the rocket.

Umika knowing herself now, she needs to apologize to Yu, though waiting for her Haruno's secret place, she's nowhere else to be found aside from the key. And when she genuinely calls for her, Yu appears to the understanding that her dream has been put on Umika's shoulders a lot, and apologizes to her, though Umika is quite forward with her forehead telepathy...and a song from Yu's home planet.

I really hope that Umika will pluck up her courage from here on, she's still got lots of potential. Ganbatte, you go girl, don't give up!

The next episode's title is so apt lols:

The girls did their best. They can be proud of themselves. Too bad their feelings were quite the opposite.

Raimon is still so annoying with her attitude.

Poor Umika. It was sad to see her cry like that. Fortunately, the conversations with Kei and Yuu made her feel much better.

Wow, 3 episodes straight of Raimon being a total bit*c is enough pls... Not only was she rude to Haruno for no reason she also totally stole Umika's money. Only saving grace was Kei's pep talk to be honest. Some strange things with Yuu today but I doubt they'll touch what happened in the anime so for source readers care to enlighten what happened?

...

At the end, the result we know is that Umika's team lost in the elimination round. And I was very sad to know that it actually happened. Even though Umika has tried her best, the results will never lie.

Some moments like Matataki leaving the team, (I know she was disappointed and Haruno too). Also I really appreciate Akeuchi who is always by Umika's side. She's amazing and she's my favorite now.

This episode really sealed the deal as my favourite show airing currently and just personally one of my favourites in general.

The whole time I was hoping for the speech and rocket launch to go well but I actually like that they took a realistic approach and had it fail and had everyone have a falling out.

Then the scene at the end with umika and yuu at the top of the lighthouse was so sweet it made me tear up a little.

I know they wanted to squeeze in as much of the emotional impact of this episode as possible, but I really hate that they skipped over the rocket launch. That was like the main thing the season had been leading up to, audience should’ve seen it and felt the heartbreak with the girls. Umika’s speech would’ve been nice to see as well.

I like that they took a realistic approach and had them fail on their first tournament. Yea, they put in a ton of work over the summer and everything, but often times things just don’t work out. Umika not doing well on her speech is also realistic. If she’d gone up there and gave a masterful speech it would’ve felt so contrived. It’s not about how many times you fall down, but how many times you get back and I’m confident that after the pep talk from Kei, Umika and the girls will get back up.

Another episode of Raimon being an absolute bitch to people who are nothing but kind to her. It’s getting really annoying. Not only was she extremely cruel to Haruno(again), but she also stole umika’s money from Kei like wtf. If you truly believe this was the only place you belonged, why are you pushing away every single person who’s been kind to you and welcomed you. She’s got some serious emotional issues.

Speaking of emotional issues, Umika was understandably a wreck after the loss and the bad speech. Kei’s conversation with her was everything she needed. Umika doesn’t need to go away to space, she’s found a place right here she can love and protect.

That place being forehead to forehead with Akeuchi lol. What a cute ending to the episode. So many feelings that Umika had been holding in and now they’re free to start preparing for the next tournament. Oh yea, and Akeuchi remembers more stuff about her homeworld now.. interesting

This episode made it clear for me that this is definitely the most underrated show of this Fall.

Character development was amazing in this episode and the scene with Umika and Akeuchi at the lighthouse in the end was beautiful.

Akizuki is so bright that Umika couldn't help but compare herself with her and had a complete metal breakdown but it is also fair to partially blame Raimon for it.

Man, this was my happy and colorful show for the Mondays : (

Akizuki Kei is the MVP of this episode! Such a nice and kind person. Her words truly saved Umika.
Wasn't expecting the girls to win in the competition to begin with.
Akeuchi disappearing gave me "Gakkou Gurashi" PTSD lol. I seriously wondered if she was real or not. If you know, you know.

Guess the next episode will be about team reassembling.

Loved how Umika finally realized that maybe she actually belongs on Earth.

I can only agree. You really got excited and you quickly felt like you were part of the model rocket building club yourself.🚀

The important thing is not to give up now. That's what I like about Umika. She overcomes the biggest hurdles and even when faced with failure, she still believes in her dreams. Never give up. Carry on! I believe in you. Someday you'll touch the sky, Umika!🌠

They adapted the chapter quite accurately. I didn't noticed something missing. I think the whole disappearing of Yuu and suddenly re-appearing when Umika cries her name, just symbolizes how she can rely on her and that she'll always be there for her.

In any case. 🤗I also go excited since they talked about university. As a Physics Student myself I'm curious too see if Umika aims to pursue a studying-career in this field.

We've got a second MVP this week - Yuu! Watching it happen. the way she cheered Umika up really warms your heart. The two are made for each other.💖

Highlight of the episode is definitely Akeuchi-san's song. That was a really nice ending with the two of them on the spiral staircase. Is there the full version somewhere? I'd like to get this on my Mp3 player.🎶

What's coming next week was one of my many highlight chapters while reading the manga. I'm really excited about it and I'm sure it will be adapted really well😍

Despite not getting to see the rocket launch, which was a pretty big miss in my opinion, this was still probably the best episode so far. Solid development for Umika, and a realistic approach to it all. Yuu remembering some things from her home planet was cool, I hope we get more of that as we go along.

@BlueBullet178 That's very unlikely. I get it that Akeuchi is somehow feels like not an ordinary human like Umika, but still Akeuchi is real, not just an imagination that Umika made, if its what you think. The proof is everyone aside Umika are interacting with her. When Umika is go for Club's Leader Meeting, Haruno said "both of you" to Akeuchi and Raimon when they're arguing, meaning she's seeing Akeuchi too, not just Raimon.

Akeuchi has no privacy in the series. Whenever we see her she is surrounded by other characters. I can't spontaneously remember a scene in which she is alone and you get a glimpse into her emotional world. I would really be interested to know what Yuu does when Umika, Matataki and Haruno aren't around her. But that's exactly what makes her so exciting and mysterious.

I still dont quite understand what the goal was in the rocket competition. To fly a specific height range and keep the egg intact too?

Aw sad Umika. I wanted to hug her. At least she got cheered up some.

Maybe Yuu really is an alien afterall but doesnt have a physical form beyond sparkles.

I love it when SoL anime that is usually full of jokes especially 4-koma manga they're full of them, really take a moment to show how serious a situation is for the casts to not joke around even once. To be honest I expected Yuu to just bust the door open in the midst of Umika's cry but no. She appeared out of thin air just like an alien without ruining the moment.

5/5 episode.

Also, this rocket competition is just Mark Rober's egg drop from space video lol

Ouch... but it would have looked too easy if they succeeded the first time, so this makes a better story.

I guess it's the nature of these regional competitions that even the school's best engineer will struggle in competition against the best from other schools in the region.

I think I prefer skipping over the Rocket Research Hobby Group's speech and launches. It evokes the feeling that, at least immediately, at least for Raimon and Umika, it's a day to forget. No need to waste time building up to a foregone conclusion. Kei's team blew Raimon's 100-point target out of the water with a score closer to 30, and there's no way Umika would give a decent speech in the state she was in. The episode even gained 3 minutes by skipping the OP and ED.

I'm guessing this exchange just hurts Raimon's pride even more, as if to say she might never win in an engineering competition, or as if the fairest thing to do is to bend their arrangement in her favor.

Akeuchi is as mysterious as ever... Appearing just as Umika calls for her, and the lighthouse flashes as if to project her voice much farther.

I feel bad for putting this anime to the side for a while. That end scene made me tear up hard. It took a bit, but this anime has the "it made me cry" award, which means it's doing something very right. If we have another "Akeuchi goes home" scare, I'm definitely not going to be ready for it.

ボナヴー!It is competition time 🚀!

Well— It seems Konohoshi Umika is not OK 💯 (2:30)! Yet, despite Konohoshi's thoughts, however, she does not have to be perfect to qualify. She reminds me of myself when I was younger, to be honest 😅. Tough it out, kid! § Yes, you will never be Akizuki (3:46)! That is the most important part to acknowledge, because you are yourself—with your own strengths and weaknesses—not her! Fight, Konohoshi, fight 📣! § Geez, that was rough… Defeat hurts, but now you must carry onwards 🚶, for life is suffering and whomever gives up shall achieve nothing and go nowhere (4:40). § The way that successful people achieve their goals is by working efficiently, consistently, and hard, Raimon embodies the all-or-nothing mentality now, but… you must keep struggling, hurting, failing, and crying—on and on—until you reach what you want (5:43). Do not give up just yet! § It is going to take your run-of-the-mill miraculous intervention to get Konohoshi firing on all cylinders again 😔— Give it till the end of the episode or two (7:18). § But that is all a leader has to do 😆; you have people who are willing to follow you and believe in you, Konohoshi (9:52). § Akizuki's appeal backs up my claims quite nicely 😄 (12:36). A senior figure in Konohoshi sphere of influence helps her back on her feet. Before the episode is even over at that! § Konohoshi is back on the ground 🏃‍♀️ (15:45). Go, go, go! § OK, Akeuchi might actually be an alien 👽. She appeared by the door? There was magic stardust too ✨‽ The logical side of my brain is discontent, but this scene is so heartfelt 💞 I will worry about this later 🥹(20:00).

Until next time 🌠!

Well I was kinda hoping to see the rocket launch I’m kinda surprised they went with the realistic approach instead of the cutesy wutesy approach where everything goes well and their off to the finals yk💀💀💀

Shit man lowkey shed a tear at the end when Yuu was hugging Umika and Umika thanking Yuu at the end as well that whole animation for that scene was just too notch and tearjerking, Umika’s development is so amazing🥹🥹🥹

I feel like Raimon gotta stop thinking it’s her against the world or some shit bc the girls are willing to work with her yet she’s always so angry when the girls are the only ppl who didn’t make fun of her for her hobbies and gave her a birthday present as well😕
