Well, this franchise is back and the first episode is how it advertised from the promos.

Percival makes an appearance right from the start and he is such a energetic guy. He's also pretty fast on his feet during the fight in this episode. There's also obvious some lore and info explored about the world. They didn't do some big recap so it seems this anime definitely expects people to be familiar with the franchise. They kept this uncensored so that's a pleasing sight. As for Percival himself, he is a pretty tough kid if you ask me.

The return of famed mangaka Nakaba Suzuki's Seven Deadly Sins sequel series: Four Knights of the Apocalypse, you definitely NEED to know a bit of SDS lore before jumping into this one. Also, Netflix Japan jail this is one...

Little Glee Monster's OP and MOONCHILD's ED kinda fits into this show, being both poppy songs.

Percival and his eccentric grandfather totally giving off Meliodas's feels exact to the bone, living on God's Finger, the remote haven on top of the clouds, seemingly content with their lives as their own. But as much as Percival wants to go adventuring, with his 16th birthday approaching, life on the remote island seems kind and cull, until an armoured knight mysteriously comes on the island on his phantom ship.

Percival being excited about him, he's looking for someone named Varghese who shot down the bird, which is his gramps' name, of which Percival is the grandchild of a secret that's hidden away from the truth. Sure enough, the armoured knight, Ironside, came to tell him of the Four Knights of the Apocalyse calamity that will lead the current King Arthur to doom (of which Percival would become one of them). That was the truth hidden from this grandson who knows nothing, that his grandfather paid the price with his life from being killed by his father. From then on, Percival's journey starts alone, without the hope that his gramps would not live to tell the tale.

With new clothing and a suit made from his grandfather, Percival had his things readied should the day arise, and on his 16th birthday, would be the day that he would set off on his own adventure, to uncover truths and be the same gag comedy that Meliodas was, down to Britannia.

A good start to the sequel series, I have more hope for Telecom Animation Film to deliver the sequel better than the entirety of SDS.

I might be wrong on this but: Wait, when did "that character" became the enemy for this series?

The ep was nice. Glad to finally see normal blood in NNT again haha.
I'm not big on the op/ed so far, but maybe they'll grow on me eventually.

Btw will there be any official subs for it?

And with that our energetic, innocent young protagonist is thrust out into an unknown, exciting yet dangerous world of adventure. Though the death was certainly sad for Percival, the pace needed to get through the initial setup sort of takes away from the emotion. OP and ED too were alright but nothing too stand-out. Nevertheless, I'm keenly looking forward to what should be a massive step up from the recent SDS anime.

It can be lincesed by Netflix and still be absent from certain countries, such as Romania for example. It has no connection whatsoever.

It’s not too bad, but I hope they quicken up the plot, because the manga felt too slow and directionless.

Solid animation and not only adapted the manga so well, but built on top of it to create original scenes that only strenghten the impact of the meaningful scenes of this first episode.

This is not like the CGI mess that was parts 1 and 2 of the latest movie, so far anyway.
I was hyped for this, I hope it's good.

Not a bad start. Feeling nostalgic from the previous 7DS franchise when I was new to anime. Same vibe, same humor. Percival is so small like Meliodas. I really thought he's only 12 or younger. Speaking of Meliodas, I actually thought his son Tristan will be the main character or will at least appear in this sequel. Anyway, I do hope it will be a good series.

bruh lol wtaf i was just ABSOLUTELY BLINDSIDED when i checked the schedule for today and saw "ep 1" next to the title when i clicked on it to watch it and the MFKN TITLE SCREEN COMES UP AND ITS NOT WHATEVER ITS CALLED HERE. ... BUT FOUR KNIGHTS OF THE APOCOLYPSE lol. ABSOLUTELY blindsided... this show was on my list either way but i had no idea it was 7ds or even that the new show was even supposed to come out lol. i was ALSO confused about the netflix movies but now know it was a way to bridge the gap between the og show and this. i was ALWAYS a fan of 7ds from start to finish and have been SUPER excited for this to come out and after the first ep im curious to know where this goes. i liked the animation since its not stick people essentially so no one can cry about that lol. THE ONLY THING THAT WAS DRIVING ME CRAZY was the VA of the main character.... ive ALWAYS been a dub over sub and only watch dub if its there but sub if its a new show cuz im not dealing with spoilers PLUS i cant make myself wait for the dub to drop... but the VA for the mc was driving me crazy that i might just wait for the dub when i dont even think its been announced its even getting one lol.

regardless im excited for the show and im BEYOND ecstatic that this random show on my fall list that i was gonna watch turns out to be one of my most anticipated projects which is a sequel show to one of my favorite anime of all time

@NicoLichi someone posted screenshots in this comment section and from those shots alone it looks incredible. i was never someone who had a problem with it in 7ds and its one of my favorites shows ever regardless of animation quality... but yeah.. this first ep looked fkn great

Decent first episode, it's good to see that the animation quality is back to par under the hands of Telecom Animation Film.

I'm surprised to see that Percival is not related to any of the characters from the predecessor NNT series. There's Iron Side whose identity remains a mystery so maybe that'll open doors to that. Prince/King Arthur, we saw an antagonistic note of him in the Ensa no Edinburgh series, and here's to hoping we get more on that.

Pretty cool Op. Little Glee Monster always delivers, and the visuals are great too. Short appearance of Meliodas there makes me wonder what kind of role he'll have. I'm guessing it'll either be like a mentor role or Tristan's companion.

Good first episode. I hope they're able to make the story a bit more interesting since it will take a long time until they get to Liones. It will be mainly the usual part of collecting friends into the crew for most of this entire season.

I don't have any expectations whatsoever but I liked how it started. I'm surprized that knight would kill his own family without a drop of remorse, maybe he's being mind controlled?

This feels refreshing, we were all getting tired of the old cast especially after season 2, it had really started to sour as a series but this new take is definitely a step in the right direction!

Just started watching this after binge reading the manga, and I have mixed feelings for this adaptation. As much as I'm happy that this got animated, I'm also kind of disappointed.

First of all, the animation is actually pretty good compared to the last two seasons of Seven Deadly Sins and let's not forget that horrendous ONA.

Secondly, the voice, I'm quite disappointed with Percival's voice. They should've selected someone with more experience cuz this voice is gonna make the whole anime underwhelming.

The OST sounds really mediocre for now but it's just the 1st episode so I hope it will get better.

I liked the OP and the ED is ok.

Overall, I hope everything will get better after all the other characters are introduced.

Interesting start, kinda harsh though with Percival's grandfather being killed by someone just to learn that he is his father, it seems like there's a lot of backstory to tell regarding Percival's family, at least it's the beginning of the adventure for him, I like how he lived so far in the sky on the tiny kind of island
