This was a very important episode as it tells about Sumi's past and reason that she sealed away Miyo's gift. She's truly a kind person, just like Miyo.

However, I also think this is an important episode to see the history of the Usuba and Saimori family. Truly though, she's gone through so much around the time when Miyo was born. A very intense and emotonal episode, not just for the past but the effects on the present.

Holy shit lots of information about Sumi this episode.

Last episode we were left with the question of, why did Sumi, marry into the Saimori family and seal away her beloved daughter's Dream-Sight? The story traces back to a few years before Miyo was born. The management of Tsuruki Trading, which supports the Usuba family, faced financial difficulties back then. Sensing the crisis endangering the Usuba family's survival, it was the Saimori family that proposed a marriage proposal with Sumi in exchange for a substantial amount of funds. Yoshirou, however, rejected and turned it down, but Sumi accepted it without him knowing which obviously lead to the birth of Miyo. The only reason she sealed off her powers was because she knew the moment someone would find out, the Usuba and Saimori family would try to get their hands on it no matter what. Meanwhile Kiyoka is unconscious in the battle field.

Can we talk about how much of a bitch Miyo's dad is. The dude wasn't even there while Sumi was giving birth. Leaving the burden of child birth to Sumi like fuck you. As much as I hate Arata and Yoshirou at least they gave a good reason for doing this to Miyo. Yoshirou, to make sure the same thing that happened to his daughter wouldn't happen to her, and for Arata to follow the order given by his majesty. Though he's grown on me seeing as he disobeyed him in order to take Miyo to see Kiyoka.

With one epiosde left, will Miyo be free from the Usuba family, will Dream-Sight work on Kiyoka? We'll have to wait and see.

Kind of goes without saying why Sumi put her family first and married into Saimori’s. But I’m also guessing she was fully aware of what those in the Saimori family wanted from this marriage. And yet she kept Miyo’s powers hidden and sealed them away, although the intentions might be rational, but it did nothing good to Miyo through all those years.

Moreover, I’m not buying at all how overprotective-kun and Miyo’s grandfather aren’t even allowing Miyo to meet Kiyoka, giving “we the family and we the ones you should love” logic. If they were so loving, they should’ve come with this same aggressive manner even a bit ago lol. Apologies and “we always loved you” speeches won’t cut it for the negligence.

Heck, even worse we always knew it was Arata who was involved with that foul lookin old man, though we can worry about that later as for now it's Kiyoka who's quite literally hanging between life and death, so of course they gonna ask Miyo to finally make use of her abilities, and bring him to life.

Looks like the Saimori's wanted to attain the famed Ursuba bloodline no matter the cost. Miyo's mom was nothing more than a vessel to them. Looking at it now her mom really saved Miyo from being relentlessly exploited by the Saimoris. Whats even more sad though is that even now Miyo's in another cage even if its one that aims to keep her safe. Miyo being able to see her mother one last time in that scene with the tree though really was heartwarming. The emperor being the ultimate puppetmaster was a nice reveal but this does set the stage for what should be an interesting finale.

“To start with, what is a family?” 😒

Everyone in this series besides Miyo, Kiyoka and his sister are so ass-backwards it’s insane. The irony of Miyo grandfather talking about how Sumi was essentially forced to marry into the Saimori family and cut off contact with her family, only to essentially do the same thing to his own granddaughter 🀦🏽‍♂️.

Yea, I get that he’s not a completely evil person. He clearly cared about Sumi and I think he cares about Miyo a lot as well. But he’s not respecting her thoughts or feelings at all.

Even though it was difficult and led to abuse, I think long-term Miyo’s mom did the right thing by sealing her abilities. Even with all the pain and heartbreak Miyo’s endured, it was because of her abilities being sealed that she was able to obtain happiness with Kiyoka. Had her abilities not been sealed she’d have been used as a weapon or tool.

That scene of Sumi telling Miyo she loved her was everything 😒 😒. I think she fully knew that one day Miyo would come to that tree and be able to see how she felt in that moment. She bet on her daughter’s future and that’s so beautiful. I hate that Miyo never got to really experience her mother’s love first hand. They really deserved to be happy together.

At least at the end Arata and her grandfather came around to supporting her and helping her go see Kiyoka. They might not be so bad after all despite their flaws. Can’t wait to see Miyo save him using her ability next week.

We really already knew, but now it’s officially confirmed that Mikado, the emperor, is the series’ big bad. Defying him is obviously not going to be easy. Even with one foot in the grave already he can make life very difficult for everyone.

It seems that miyo's grandfather really regrets his actions and arata might not be totally a bad guy .
Now time for miyo to save kiyoka!

When it starts with the op you know it's gonna get serious.
It's the second time I see information being transferred through touch today lol. Does this appear often in anime? I'm starting to see AOT everywhere now that I'm finally watching it.
12:09 "We are permitted to marry only within our kin." Whaaaaaaaaaa
Usubas actually seem kinda nice now.
Let's gooo they let her see Kiyoka!
Excited for the next (last) episode!

The famed backstory of the Miyo's mother Sumi and why she sealed off her daughter's supernatural ability, it's a causal effect of many.

From a failed business to a marriage proposal that would help save the business, that's what the frail mother got herself into for the Usuba family without consulting her father, and as a result, after marrying into the Saimori family, all ties were broken. The sakura tree that exemplifies Miyo of her Dream-Sight ability, one which even her mother does not have, she, together with Shinichi, bore Miyo together, only on the context of getting their family's supernatural abilities, on top of her being ill. And that's where the deicision was made to seal off her powers, right on the cherry blossom tree at the Saimori backyard. With the Grave gone and the Grotesqueries on the offense, Kiyoka and his army must attack in full force, as Miyo takes a recovery with Arata, though the Usubas were pretty much destined from the get-go with their curse.

The Grotesqueries are proving hard to defeat, and Kiyoka gets himself injured in the process, though Miyo longs hard and wandering for him. To that effect, her biological grandfather both thanking and apologizing for giving her such a life, Miyo truly is one special child, and her seeking to claim her abilities out from the cherry blossom tree which was protected after so long, Miyo can finally put her abilities to good use, no matter how much Arata's deal with the Emperor will stop her in his tracks. The deal is just as important as how Miyo loves Kudo, and Arata offers his assistance to help her at all costs, which I thought was a nice gesture, all things considered.

Miyo finally getting to see Kiyoka in his unconscious state, her Dream-Sight could put him out of his coma, and that's the sign of her affection.
The finale couldn't come fast enough...

How did Miyo regain her Dream Sight back? I thought the cherry blossom tree which Sumi sealed her power in was the one in Saimori's home, and was chopped down. How did she retrieve it from Usuba's cherry blossom? Are they connected?

As expected, I hate Arata. He wants to become Miyo's husband? Not even in his dreams.

I hate what this Emperor has in mind. Compared to the Emperor, I think the prince is better.

Finally, Miyo gets to see Kiyoka. Let's see how she uses her powers to wake him up.

Kind of boring episode, really. Atleast we finally got to know about what happened back then. Kudou coincidentally got hit and is now unconscious right when Miyo's power fully awakened and is the only way to bring him back, I'm utterly amazed. Anyway just one more episode to go and this set up nicely for Miyo to save Kudou and their happy reunion.

The only thing westers Xters (who the hell are you even talking about, lol) are shivering at is the pretentiousness of your comment. If you have nothing to say about the episode don't just come here to rile people up with your snobbishness.

@Softhenic03 Well said, this episode felt like 5 min but pain again, ah yea now they have Dream- sight Maiden they care about her, loving? Oh, please all the same motive for the same reason, if grandpa said he does not want to lose Miyo now, why he did not tried to rescue his daughter then? Some lame excuse, using Miyo weak state and knowing she would agree to stay even for cost of her loosing Koyoka, yet just Usuba family proved they are no different from Sumire family maybe a little less harsh. That his majesty shade character wants Miyo's ability to be ruler of the world. With one episode left they want to show us what? I hope it will get S2 and more explanation on the families background, where his majesty comes from cos he pops up out of nowhere for seconds in few episodes? My good guess it will be Arata's doing at his Majesty commands that Grotesques appeared to attack village, seal was broken cos of him. And at the end its all about power money and greed....

Her Usaba family isn't just dislakable, but they have been both avera of her situation and are keeping her captive. Don't come with excuses like the emperor dosen't want her to have contact with other superability users, her cousin, HER COUSIN, said to her I will most likely be your husband and had no respect to her own wishes. And the fact that she never finds the way they are treathing her troughout this episode is so god dam frustrating. (Sorry for bad english :,D)

This is literally the worst episode yet. Sumi sacrificed herself for paying debts of her family? Honestly don't give a fuck. Like seriously. This was a very emotional title from the start, but this episode was so lame. Why Sumi got married? Lamest reason. That doesn't bring anything new to the story. I'd rather didn't know. Sakura tree plot hole? Yeah, apparently all sakura trees in Japan are connected like the forests of Pandora. Maybe grotesques are actually spirits of dead navi? That for eyed prick wants to keep her in the family cause she is his future wife from his birth he always wet dreamed about growing up? No, he just doesn't want to feel like a useless piece of shit, cause apparently nobody needs the the services of the witch hunter family. Only the exorcists. She has a super rare secret SuperUltraRare rank ability that nobody needs to know about? Lets talk about it in front of future husband's sister, their old maid and a sting_name_RandomPawn#64.
Did I miss something?
Oh, right. "You can't go outside!" "You can't go" "No!" "You really want to???" "Ok, you can go. Who am I to forbid.
I'm not mad. Just disappointed. Such a good title down the drain. It was so dramatic and deep at the start.

The backstory of Sumi was very much needed, which went to explain a good amount of things back were in need of answering. Due to the Usuba family's struggling business and finance woes, Sumi was married off to the Saimori family, which meant that contact with her was pretty much severed. However, Sumi's health got worse shortly after giving birth to Miyo and, upon realising that Miyo had the Dream-Sight ability, she sealed off her power with the pretty cherry blossom tree in the Saimori garden.

I will say that this episode did convince me of her grandfather being a decent guy. He did fully express the choices that he made back then was something that he still regrets in the present day and his conversation with Miyo about what "Family" meant was pretty intriguing. Arata, as well, isn't as bad of a guy as I thought he was, although it doesn't help with how stubborn he was in denying Miyo's request to see Kiyoka over and over again. Mikado, the man that Arata has contact with, is pretty much the main antagonist of this story, although I don't see him being dealt with just yet.

Speaking of which, Kiyoka's skill and abilities with how his team were dealing with the Grotequeries was impressive, but he sadly got hit by one after defending his fellow friend from harm and thus slipped into unconsciousness. Upon hearing this news, Arata finally agreed to let Miyo go see him, with the blessing from her Grandfather. Now that she can use her Dream-Sight ability decently enough, hopefully she can find a way to help Kiyoka recover and get a happy resolution for the final episode. =)

1. I know they have reasons for Miyo’s maternal family treatment of her, but I just don’t have it in my heart to trust & forgive. (Obviously I’m not in the anime, but it’s just how I feel about it all.)

2. Kudo coming in and just absolutely dominating in the battle was awesome! (Still don’t know why 4-eyes didn’t join the battle. Like need a purpose? Go fight the bad guys! Don’t pine after a girl you don’t really know who is engaged to another.)

3. I am not a fan of, “Do you know how long I’ve been waiting for you !?!”, in an aggressive tone. When someone goes off about being “the one” when it is one-sided with the non-agreeing party never knowing the other person… it just irks me. Like dude, slow your flow.

4. I really hope she can save Kudo. I can’t wait for the (hopefully) reunion in his dream.

5. I feel like glasses isn’t helping Miyo cause he cares about her happiness. I feel like it’s more of a not wanting her to despise him so he can have better control over her in the future. But regardless, she gets to see Kudo. So I’m like a “keeping my eyes on you” kind of stage with glasses.

6. Did he mention the emperor in hopes Miyo stays? Was he trying to guilt trip her?

*just my thoughts & reactions πŸ˜›

She started regaining it when she touched the burned tree in ep 7 and it turned to dust. Probably just needed time to fully regain it or it looked like she pulled the last remaining bit because the cherry blossom trees are connected

With one episode left we'll probably at least see Miyo waking up Kudo and possibly going back to him as well. The old man sitting behind some curtains will have to be dealt with in another season. Or maybe they can speed-run this sh*t and Kudo wakes up and goes to kill the old man and then they get married and have a happily ever after ending, who knows.

Even after all this I still think Arata is insufferable πŸ˜‚
Bitch can say all he wants that he needs to protect her and so he can't leave whilst Alabama noises happen in the background but that's still not gonna make me think he and Miyo would be nice together, it was nice seeing Miyo actually retaliate but I kinda wished he was properly slapped at his dumbass bitchy idiot face

At least the granddad is actually nice tho, even tho his lil hissy fit in the past has lead to unfortunate happenings but at least he isn't like Miyo you can't go out, you're stuck here forever with me muahahahahahahahah
Still suckish that like they took her in when they needed her most and not before all the sad crap in her life but I guess like, it's not much you can do if the shitty families are being stubborn about it and they had no connection to be able to actually rescue her during her childhood

Hopefully Miyo's dream-sight powers is the thing that saves Kiyoka tho

Next episode is the last but I'm curious about Kaya and Kouji because I thought they would've been in the anime more but had to leave due to the house fire and never once appeared again
Kaya's still a bitch tho a lot of that came from her motherfucking mother who needs a bitch slap by the end of the series so I can at least have some leeway for Kaya, tho I still wanna see her live the hard life

Episode with plenty of relevant information but obviously i was left confused here. Throught the episode, we are led to believe she has to stay there because Arata said he had to protect her given his role. Now that Kudo is hurt, he goes ahead and tell everything that TRULY led her being there because...why? And then because yes he decides that Miyo should see Kudo?? And the grandfather supports his decision? I felt there was plenty of holes here the writters or the original story suffer from or im just not understanding. Someone in the comments help me here.

@MegamiRem My thoughts exactly XD

on serious note, since the series is coming to a close. I don't think I'm going read the manga. It is fun watching the drama unload but its not interesting enough to read more. Maybe I'm just not into fantasy & supernatural as I was before when young.

Or I think maybe its the many manga that has family ties with superpowers.. it seems so tired that you have to be part of a "great" family or clan to be powerful or whatever. Overused trope.. and adds nothing to it to make it special.

A few things don’t make sense, as it has been pointed out by many.
If grandfather really regrets how he treated Sumi, why not protect Miyo way before they know about her ability???? Miyo didn’t know about them, but they knew about her.
The cousin feels a little yandere, but I guess he has his own shit to deal with, he could go either way from here on.
Didn’t they say it was best for her super special ability to remain a secret within the family? So why did he just blurt that out in front of a bunch of people?????
Where is the happy marriage? Or even the marriage???
I wished Kudo had just married her when he had the chance so it would be way harder for the family to take her away.

@MegamiRem The day Miyo looks inside and says 'enough'.

@little_shiz17 Guilt trip is not going to work with Miyo anymore...
