For those hoping for my comeback, here I am finally, back on from IRL issues. A thousand apologies for not being the episode thread starter :(

Saeki comes back to Aono's house with an important message, though it took the former courage just to drag the circumstance out.

Apart from drinking too much barley tea and getting anxious to go to the toilet, Saeki peers at Aono's father's soundproof piano room, though the last competition he was at, Aono had an inkling about Saeki's knowhow of his origins. But Saeki coming back to Japan to find him after seeing him in his last competition, it's a complicated mess of familial relations.

Saeki, being born in rural Germany and only with his mother, the violin was all he had to keep him occupied. In the small town he lived in, Saeki entered a chamber orchestra at a young age, after his grandfather taught him at a tender age of 4. Though the breaking point is when he's introduced to Ryuji Aono, the perfectionist of an Asian, Japanese violinist, which happened to be Aono's father.

Aono, thinking that Saeki is getting back at him for the sake of getting close to his father, he scoffs in disdain. But Saeki's story isn't over, as he listens to Ryuji's playing over and over, his grandfather forbids him from listening further, though they would not tell him the reason why, and his mother, being a vocalist, they were bound to be naturally paired together, and that's when the scandal happened, dropping the bombshell that Ryuji is also his father. But why it took Saeki so long to get this story out, it would affect their relationship from the get-go, which Aono definitely wavered in shock.

Aono and Saeki, half-siblings, one from a marriage and another from an affair, this could not have come at a worse time than now.

This is probably the most intense of the series so far, before the 3-week hiatus this show will get until it comes back on August 27th.

The episode i appreciated the most: an interesting character’s backstory which we discover why the passion of the music is burst and a big revelation. So far a tiring experience not liking many of the “school” episodes but the next promises to be more interesting why the rivalry is intensified and probably will be the national music contest competition (if they made only one season). Let’s see in August when the show will restart

How I felt watching this episode with that reveal:

Anyway the reveal finally was there and kinda saw it coming. Must say that while I understand that Aono doesn't want any mention of his father still think he was harsh on Saeki, it's not like he did anything wrong, his mother must have suffered too because of that scumbag of a father.

Wow. This episode was dramatic to say the least. Definitely wasn't a twist I was expecting. I can see why Aono is mad at Saeki...however he should channel his anger toward his POS dad. Saeki didn't ask to be an affair child.

For me, it's the opposite. These two relationship is the most interesting aspect of this show for me.

I have a several question. Why aono and saiki both are same age? Did Their father phantom or something than can teleport from japan to germany and sleep with other woman? This is joke

at the beginning I thought that indeed saeki was ryuuji's son. But then I was hoping that the relationship was only mentor/student since ryuuji travels a lot.

in the end it was the most obvious but my suprise was that the affair was him going back with her previous partner, saeki's mother. I just wish that sakei and aono can patch things quickly.

Considering that the father is a famous violinist it is normal that he probably performs internationally. Even if that would mean he was basically cheating on Aono's mother from the very beginning.

That wasn't unexpected imo, from the start of the episode, it was pretty clear what Saeki was going to say. That was quite dragged out if I do say so myself, and the minimal production values don't help its case. It was pretty intense, I'll give it that though.

They really dropped that bombshell before the 3-week break though, that's just kind of funny to me.

So just like we all thought from last week, they are brothers 😭 😭 I know we all thought it but damn I was kinda hoping it wasn’t that predictable

Just makes Aono dad look like even more of a scumbag. I totally understand why he’d want to kick nao out the house in that moment.

He was finally starting to get over his dad and move forward living his life the way he wants to, now he’s got a permanent reminder of his dad’s behaviour and actions right next to him. And considering how much they like each other that probably makes it hurt even more

All this drama about them having the same daddy was boring, forced and unnecessary. I couldn't finish it easily because they stretched it beyond belief wth.

lots of intense emotions this season. i originally thought what saeki had to say was that he knew aono's dad, like maybe he met him on tour or taught him or something, so i thought him putting off telling aono was funny. but now i understand why it was so nerve-wracking and hard for him to say it.

saeki is aono's half brother, and he came about due to an affair his dad had. i will say, i assumed the affair was a more recent occurrence, but i guess it just got leaked to tabloids or something.

as much as im upset aono yelled at saeki and kicked him out, i also understand its a lot of information that was dumped onto him all at once. he needs time to process and think it over alone. obviously there were better ways he could have gone about saying it, but he just needed to let out all the emotions erupting inside of him. i do hope they'll be able to make up soon though, as saeki and aono's friendship is one of my favorite relationships in the show. i think if they're able to process it on their own and talk about it together, the newfound knowledge that they're actually half brothers could possibly even bring them closer.

really sad the show is going on hiatus for a few weeks though. i really don't want to wait that long to see what happens. perhaps ill pick up the manga from where this episode leaves off. would anyone happen to know where that is?

I've read the manga and even though I know that the anime won't satisfy me due to the animation, I love the story. It's the first one I watched that digs deep into mental problems of children after their parents' affair (took place on normal world, no fantasies or magic/power involved). Although it can be considered slow chara development for some ppl, I think it is close to real life, as well as the characters' reactions.

With Saeki, it is definitely hard for him to tell the truth to Aono even after months. Aono's confession about his family is like a boost encourage him to confess to. He is strong and didn't deserve to be shouted that harsh, noone wants to be an illegitimate child.

However, in Aono's situation, I think Saeki deserve to be blame for bad timing. Aono is still a teenager whose family just broken apart last year. When he started to live normal again and open up one more time, his mother got hospitalised and one of his closest friend turned out to be his half-brother! Worst timing for the truth ever!

Their father is suck and I hope they will somehow rearrange their emotions and get along.

I know this is long but I'm quite sad finding no one considered all those aspects (or maybe just haven't comment). Maybe it's just me being too sensitive and emotional but I just wanna share my feelings.

The moment he turned back from the station with a concerned look on his face in the last episode, it was obvious..
I've seen way too many anime to know that from experience

I thought I saw it coming at first. Thought Saeki was gonna confess he and Aono share the same father. But then he first confesses that he knew his father before coming to Japan. Thought that was all of it. And then he continued and I'm like..."oh shit. they're going that direction."

Wow. Didn't need that sudden twist lol. Always wondered how he got a Japanese family name when it is most common for the children to take the name of the father + he had German grandfather. I first thought they had daughter that went to Japan and then married a Japanese guy. Or that the the grandparents had a son taking the name of the grandmother - marrying a female German or goign to Japan.

But that thing ... pretty sudden now. I guess the family name is from the grandmother then though. No other option. I wonder if he did somehow manage to take the family name of the grandmother to conceal that he is Ryuuji's son. Or of the grandparents already agreed to use the grandmothers family name + their daughter than having had that name. (Which then got passed to Saeki as well - mother not married to Ryuuji.)

This now might lead to too much unnecessary Drama and taking away the fokus from the school/club and the other chars. Hopefully they can solve this soon. The father returning and getting some dialogue qith them would be the best I guess. (Maybe visiting the mother in hospital.)

WOW!! That did not go at all where I thought it would go. It came out of the blue (some pun intended). I cannot even imagine what must be going through Aono's mind right now; his mum is in the hospital and now a friendly rival just tells him he's the personification of Aono's dad's affairs...F*cking hell...

Story going to much sideways. So many drama unnecesseary for show. Just focus on that damn playing violin. Characters are really boring and conversation is so slow and boring i fall aslep. Other aspect of show is on pair with animation, horrible. They even started some kinda romance on start with those 2 girls towards aono but that fell apart too. No matter how sad backstory characters had, i cant really point any of characters right now that is really interesting to watch. Aono gloomy introvert, saeki same, that red girl is either full of energy and annoying or just gloomy like rest of crew, haru is tragic heroine and rest of characters are just there to fullfill spot. Story is all over place, and at least they could try harder on normal animation which is on pair with horrible cgi while they playing. I noticed they play like 2 or 3 song during show, like is there any other play they can perform. I know il get so much hate for saying this all and why i even watched show till now but this needs to be said.
