I saw this show at the start of the season and it looked like an average romance.... but now it's sitting at an 8.2? the hell happened? is it a must watch? or did it just hit a certain niche really well? |

The series did start a bit slow and off putting with the main guy's murderous thoughts but those thoughts died down as he began to talk and interact with Anna. Anna is a pretty unique girl and I would recommend watching it as it gets wholesome without the main guy becoming a simp. This was my favorite romcom of this season and I'm glad that the score rose as it was prematurely rated low in my opinion. |

It started out being another generic/average romance. Even I was gonna drop it after like 2 or 3 episodes. But im so glad I stuck with it. I think the reason it ended up so good compared to other romance shows is that it actually showed decent character development. Rather than just the girl falling in love with the guy for not much reason these two actually seemed to start as just friends and it grows naturally. There's probably many more reasons like wish fulfillment etc. But in the end I think it just comes down to not pushing stupid drama and having characters that actually have personality, especially the male lead. |

Their chemistry is good, and they're both pretty weird, goofy kids, which makes it even better, and it's developed seemingly naturally and with good pacing. Perverted humor, which I really enjoy. Kind of plays to the shota fetish a little bit, they really emphasize the size difference often throughout the show, a little inconsistent. |

Nothing happened. I have always thought that the anime adapted the manga perfectly since episode one. It has great animation and pacing, and the seiyuu did an incredible job. I bet many people did not like the MC at the beginning because of his inner monologue but in the end if you keep watching then you will definitely enjoy it. |

People may identify with Ichikawa as a sort of faux-sociopathic Tomoko Kuroki, but while I am not exactly the biggest fan of this anime, I think the other reason why is that this anime is romantic subtext instead of outright romance. The difference is that it actually has to build something to be read into. I think for many people, it is one of those anime that become bearable on the 4th episode, which is surprisingly common. Wataten is an anime where the main character stops being such an outright pedophile in the 4th episode, whereas Uzaki-chan actually has the two main characters act like fucking friends in the 4th episode, and now this. It seems there are more anime ditching their shitty or limiting premises by the 4th episode. |

I guess my question is, what do you mean by solid? cause from toradora, to your lie in April, there are lots of great romance that I have not seen. so is this like good enough to be worth to be a beloved classic like those, or is it just a solid seasonal romance that will be forgotten by the end of the year? |

Is it a must watch? depends tbh. If you liked this type of romance shows (nagatoro, takagi, my dress up darling) where the episode is self contained and constructed of 2 or 3 romance segment then you'll love it. I honestly think this is the best one in term of pure romance compared to its kin. Yamada as the MC really sell the show imo. She really feels like a middle schooler who is shy because she doesnt know how to act after fall in love for the first time but still try somehow show her affection in a really bold and awkward way. That alone makes almost every segment end up being cute and wholesome. Ichikawa, for me, isn't special but compared to other MC from this type of show i would say his development and awareness are probably the best. Their relationship also moves in a really satisfying pace so it doesnt feel like we go in circle at least so far. In short, this is a cute romcom where our MC interects in a really awkward but also cute way that leave you happy after every episode, like almost every episode after episode 3 leave a strong feeling imo. The best way to answer whether you'll like it or not i think is to give the show at least 4/5 episodes and depends on that you'll know the general feeling of the show |

I can't say much yet since I've seen only three episodes so far but it's damn good in my eyes. I guess people had a problem with the MC murderous inner thoughs which I never understood the hate of it, but seemingly there's a slow character development between these highschool kids, and I'm all for it! |

I dont know why you find the romance in kaguya to be really good but here's my reason why i liked it. The romance in kaguya moves in subtle way and really builds up as the season goes so its satisfying to see how it ends. Not to mention the character writing is good too and in the end ties in to the romance in some way which makes it better. If you compare the pacing with Bokuyaba, its definitely feels way faster and not subtle, but at a reasonable pace because compared to kaguya, this one has bigger portion for the romance than the comedy. I see that you dont have a big problem with horimiya pacing so this one wont be a problem. The character on the other hand is not that special at this moment imo, but just really really likeable because of their goofiness and the way they act around each other. To make it clearer, i dont think the show is the best romance i've seen (i'll probably rate it 8/8.3), but probably one the strongest one in its own type of romance (shows like horimiya, nagatoro, komi san, my dress up darling) and probably wont be something that people remember as the best romance standing with kaguya or fruit basket imo, but definitely one to remember in this year |

Popular girl is a social butterfly and doesn't care that otaku doesn't have social skills and always initiates talks, despite otaku sometimes having rude behaviour and barely tries to be nice to her. This is the young introvert's dream coming true: a beautiful girl falling in love with you even though you suck at interactions. Also the initial premise is that edgy otaku wants to kill popular girl just because, but when he falls for her he forgets about that and becomes yet another romance. If you like that kind of romance, go for it. |

The anime got the recognition it deserved and i'm beyond happy about it. After episode 2 and the "hate" it received i binged the entire manga and knew this is going to be a great anime [given the case it is adapter properly]. I'm glad people stuck with it and gave it a chance to see how good it is. |

APolygons2 said: I saw this show at the start of the season and it looked like an average romance.... but now it's sitting at an 8.2? the hell happened? is it a must watch? or did it just hit a certain niche really well? The mc and male side characters are degenerates but the romance and comedy are top tier. That combined with the fmc's wholesomeness more than makes up for it |

For me, it really was nothing more than an average romcom. If two wholesome characters being lovey-dovey is your thing, you'll like it. If you want anything beyond that, this one doesn't offer that. I'd even say it's rather bad for a wholesome romance. Due to it's harsh, realistic takes and dirty comedy, it somewhat fails to build up that "fluffy, dreamy aura". I gave it a 5/10 in the end after having it at 6 for most of it's run. I have no idea why the score shot up like this. |

the story is barely above average at best, but the chemistry is unsanely sweet and it leads up to some some really intense situations. Despite being a bit of a power fantasy for shut-ins, Id go as far as saying its among the best romcoms Ive seen in manga and anime. |

I also try to watch it because I am curious about the rating rise and it really is a masterpiece. Yeah, a few first episode was a kinda boring if you just begin to watch it but from that point it just keep getting better (the story is really good, conversation so natural with the perfect background music). Kinda remind me when I'm watching steins gate which I thought was boring until episode 11 onward is a masterpiece. |

For people who have seen both, how does it compare to My Dress Up Darling? |

A bunch of shows are like that this season. Expect Insomniacs, Skip, and Heavenly Delusion to skyrocket in the coming weeks as well. |

My Dress up Darling has higher production value as it has more budget and of course its Cloverworks' first of its series of redemption productions. But story-wise, in terms of progression, Dangers in my heart is a bit quicker and more satisfying. |

I've seen and read a lot of romance and this one's easily one of the best out there. I'm in love with the manga and the adaptation had no flaws. Definitely a must watch. Will become a romcom classic like Takagi-san and Kaguya-sama. First 3 episodes are a bit cringe, but keep watching. |

I just want to ask, before I start watching it. Does the rating really lived up to the actual anime? Or is it some kind of falsely score by the users? |

I watch a lot of romance anime, even the generic ones, but this one feels different. the characters actually feel fleshed out, and they each have reasons for being in the situation they're in. once the mc cuts most of the chuuni act is when it starts getting insanely good. very wholesome anime imo, but then again this entire thing is just my opinion. I wouldn't say it's the best anime this season for me personally, but it is definitely an entertaining watch. |

Main girl is quirky, goofy, funny and an A+ tier waifu,, but also has her own personal struggles, her relationship with MC is cute, they have good chemistry and both are developing. Those are the most important aspects of every romcom, and here it is phenomenal. Also, side characters are entertaining and contribute to the show in the own way. The only major gripe people had was MC's sick fantasies, which were thankfully dropped completely five minutes into first episodes. |

The first few episodes have the MC fantasise about murdering and in one case implies sexually assaulting the dead body of the female lead. Other than that I thought it was a very sweet show with nice pacing, and it did a great job developing a believable relationship between its two leads. |
