So I just read some volume 23 extras of the manga and there Iruma asked Opera what gender he/she was. It's also not specified in the wiki so what do you guys think? I always assumed he was a male

It was never disclosed.
It doesn't mean Opera is LGBT, it just means it's irrelevant. Similarly to Hange or Nanachi.

Opera's gender is never disclosed. Like Neferopitou from HxH or Najimi from Komi-san

Hange yeah, but Pitou is technically genderless though obviously female presenting.

I think for the anime they pretty much rolled with hange being a girl but in the manga they were more ambiguous. Though at the end of the day the point is more their gender doesn't really matter to their character one way or the other.

Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me

Opera is definitely a guy. No chest, straight waist, and the tone of voice. He's a cute guy for sure though.

I was actually surprised knowing that Opera’s VA is actually female as I thought it sounded quite masculine. Really fits the character as I have no idea what Opera is.

but in the Kalego's flashback in Season 2 episode 12 they're wearing a girl's uniform

so I'd say if anything they're either non-binary, or a masculine presenting girl.

really depends how you wanna think about it

if you go off the past, they were a lot more feminine and wore a girl's uniform (see; Kalego's Flashback in S2E12)

if you go off of now, they're very masc presenting, and their voice, while obviously still a female VA in the show, is noticeable deeper than the rest of the female cast. but they also work as a butler and wear a butler uniform, so that might cause them to present more masc than they would otherwise

at the end of the day, it doesn't seem to matter. personally, I see them as a masculine girl.

Opera is Opera, nothing more to it, assume what you like and Opera won't complain but they are too awesome to be contained in any gender.

At first, I really thought that Opera was female but somehow while reading the manga I realized that Opera is Opera.

I know I'm late but I'm pretty sure Opera's gender is up for the readers to interpret. Non-binary,he,her,ect. Everyone is right lol, let neko be neko.

I didn't even know this was discussed.

Opera is a man, though gender isn't important in his character construction.

Like Hansi is obviously a woman and her gender doesn't matter in her character.

Everything point to him being male. He just has a soft face and isn't very masculine: classical fujobait. Dunno why people are confused and wildly guessing.

And so would the catboi from rezero.

for real though: Opera is a man. How many female combat butlers do you know?
