her first priority is protecting her love ones so her savior mentality is only second priority to her

she does not care much about the whole world rather only cares about her love ones more and foremost

this is in episode 12

this is in episode 13

Majima is the one that thinks he is the Hero of Justice in this show this is in episode 13 too

so thoughts? agree or disagree?

First, I don't think she is a terrible character, I said that in the other thread that talked about it.

I think she definitely cares more about her loved ones and people that are important to her than others, after all you can see how she didn't want to kill Yoshi even if that basically means keeping alive a guy that supports terrorists because he is her "saviour", she isn't a Hero of Justice similar to Shirou that would jump to help someone whom the other time that they saw each other was because that person wanted to kill him and his friends.

I voted yes
but nevertheless she isn't a terrible charcter per se, atleast she is enjoyable to watch, not like a certain Tanjiro Kamado who kills every single brain cells when he appears on screen, I won't mention Zenitsu cuz he gives me strokes

She's not a good character, I'd leave it at that. She lacks proper building and has like zero development.
Takina is the second best character in the show though, her development was pretty notable tbh.

Majima's complex thought process would definitely make him the best character out of the the bunch, but not in a sense that he's exceptionally well written but because he's extremely interesting and unpredictable. It isn't properly expressed in the way he's written, but his writing is still good, and very good for an anime original show.

The rest are just dummy characters, except Kurumi she's pretty nicely written.

So yeah my opinion on the characters

Imo she is a good character. I'm really happy how they managed to pull the whole "no killing" thing without her becoming your typical self proclaimed hero of justice. She had her ideals and stood by them. She was ready to pay the price but she also was able to make a choice (shot Yoshi) instead of waiting for random event to save her - like usually in such situations.

Chisato has some flaws and can't always get things both ways. She is a little hypocritical.
Obviously she values people close to her more than strangers like any person would.
This show has a huge potential for sequel, so many plot points might be answered in the future just like her morals properly challenged.
She is NOT a Mary Sue, which is a good thing by itself, because bad person =/= bad character.

Also, my sweet summer child...
You have no idea what "not a good person or hero of justice", really means, despite openly claiming both, until you have watched Symphogear.

Chisato is a terrible character for not being a hero? I mean, she literally was trying to stop Majima at the end of the series lol. She obviously cares about stopping bad people, she just doesn’t care for the politics of it, hence why she said she doesn’t care about the world, not that she doesn’t care about helping people. Otherwise, she wouldn’t even bother doing any Lycoris duties at all, but obviously episode one shows us they rely on her still( and she complied with her duties to a degree, when’s she’s not flirting with Takina.

She is a naive, selfish moralist.

To think that she has the power to protect herself and that which she cares for without putting down those whose whole motive of existance is to bring her and innocent people into harm...

I remember thinking the first episode: "thats gonna come around and bite her in the ass". And sure enough. She had many oportunities to at least kill majima, yet she didn't. And look at all the harm he did. All because she valued keeping a "clean conscience" over the lives of those who didn't deserve to die at the hands of a terrorist war monger who kills for some fairly idiotic reasons.

But how can you keep a clean conscience if you find out the guy you've been letting go massacred like 40 of your colleagues by crushing them alive, ran over another one and executed her like a cartel, and so on?

She really is doing her best Los Angeles DA impression, letting shit go because she wants to be good and getting a lot of people hurt and killed in the process.

One of the reasons I didn't like the show is how unsympathetic and unfazed the main characters were to those who died. I might not like the fact that the ugly ass bitch kusunoki is using orphan girls as disposable soldiers, but at least she is doing it to combat actual crime and violence. Why on earth should that bring scorn or fear over those girls? Who on their right mind picks up a gun for the first time in their life, finds one of those "elite killers" and tries to kill them because some weirdo in a screen says they've been covertly killing terrorists and criminals?

Way too forced imo.

She does care about her loved ones and doesn't care about the world...true. But I think this contradicts her "purpose" she gave herself when she was given a 2nd chance at life. She said she wants to be a savior. How can you want to be a savior but not care about other people or the world? It doesn't make sense.

It was still a boring fest kept entertaining with tje appearance of fan service and cute anime girls, especially the unsociable thingy as leading character that I wanted to put some sense into her brain. Then again, it's just plot convenience for teenagers.
Help! I need somebody. Help! Not just anybody. Help! You know I need someone. Helpppppp!

i do not see Chisato as a deontologist that should always follow their moral rules, i see her kinda more as a consequentialist even though just barely since she believes you can gain something from losing something so she sees more the outcome or results like a consequentialist that way also she is good at moving on plus again her top priority is caring for her love ones and not her duty as a savior

and yes she is selfish but that does not make her a terrible character

Her selfishness doesn't really work for her character imo. It just makes her look like a shitty person. No, seriously...think about it. Her whole no killing schtick now comes across as her just trying to keep her own hands clean. She doesn't really care either way as the persons she's shooting aren't her loved ones. If those people she refuses to kill go on to kill 1 million people, she wouldn't give a shit by her own admission and from what we've seen from her.

I think the author making her goal to want to save people was a very stupid choice for this reason. Unless they go into this further if we get a continuation of the show, and they actually address this contradiction in her character. You cannot claim to want to be a savior, yet will not give a damn if a bunch of people around you die (Lycoris that got killed by Majima) or if the people she saves/refuses to kill go on to kill other people.

hence why she is not a hero of justice and is even a problem child for DA, she just do what she wants

and there is no contradiction on her beliefs or character she just list them as priorities in ascending order

For me it is a contradiction because like I said...you can't claim to want to be a savior while not actually giving a shit about other people.

While I dislike her non-killing, I can respect her steadfastness in caring for her loved ones. She's basically your normal genki girl who just so happened to have an aptitude for combat, and I love the K-ON-esque vibes she brings to the room, which admittedly didn't fit sometimes with the overarching terrorism plot.
IMO, this show tried to be two things at once: carefree SoL and action thriller, and while some shows balance it well, this didn't quite manage to be exceptional in either regard, just barely decent for me. Still respectable tho.

Thank God she isn't a hero if justice. I can practically see myself yawning at how boring and repetitive it would be if she was.
It was because of her nonchalant attitude that I rated this show a 7/10. Heroes if justice are a dime a dozen, Majima is also a perfectly fine character. His "justice" I can understand and appreciate, I can't say I like it, or would join, but he deserves a bow for his efforts.

Chisato is an egoistical hypocrite but she refuses to see it or just doesn't care, probably mostly because she knows that she doesn't have long to live in any case (even before her "savior" shortened her already short life expectancy even more). She doesn't have the luxury of time, maybe that's why she makes that offhand comment to Majima about how he'll become an old man before he knows it if all he spends his time on is try to change the world to his liking. That hypocritical way of thinking of hers is what holds her together despite huge contradictions and is both her strength and her weakness.

even though i DO like her, i can definitely see a lot narrative flaws wit her, the whole “desire to save people” is kinda stupid at times for me, and her selfishness is a thing to be pointed out.

Her Trigun attitude is annoying, she even stops others like Takima from killing people. Apart from that she is actually enjoyable, but she's very selfish.

People do realize that lycoris recoil success is almost solely due to japan's gynocentrism. No other reason why it managed to win anime of the year other than it had an all female cast with yuri bait.

Well, it was one of the best series of 2022; probably the single best in my personal estimation. Can't think of too many others which would serve as even close contenders.

@WatchTillTandava lycoris recoil winning best anime is equivalent of women getting into a club for free while men have to pay 40 bucks.

Well, having cute and amusing girls as main characters isn't the only reason I'd say it should be considered for series of the year (and is my personal favorite of that year), but can't be discounted as a factor. This series is anime original so isn't actually marked as Seinen as manga and manga-based content generally is, but it's easy to imagine it falling into that category since you just can't discount the fact that a large portion of the male audience enjoys watching female characters, especially in different and unique situations which would not normally be expected of them (either in the real world or in traditional male roles) and just observing that dynamic between them as a fly on the wall.

Girls in a sometimes insightful or serious, but mostly relaxed Action + Slice of Life urban cafe show is just a fun watch.
