I know I shouldn't be taking ratings that seriously but it just seems people hated this series for no reason. I don't know how true it stayed to the source material but surely it wasn't that bad?

I loved it, has similarities with black clover I'd say, if you liked it and don't mind ecchi then its a really good watch

It was a good anime. Good art style, good characters, and a great plot in my opinion since it leads into a season two. I liked the romance between the MC and Vermeil, and how it progressed. The MC has a clear development as the show goes on as well. Add to that the fact that it doesn’t shy away from being graphic and touching when needs be and you have a good anime in my opinion.

it all depends on your taste. I personally think is a good anime. the rating is sometimes off, people who doesn't like this type of anime go and put a bad rating instead of just not watching it

I liked it very much, the fact that a character developed and tries their best just for one specific person is extremely wholesome. This show is nice if you like a bit of drama and trauma with a bit of action with the side of sadism of one character

Nah it was a pretty good show, maybe a 7.5 or 8/10, I just think a lot of people got turned off by the initial ecchi of the show and a lot of the low rating viewers didn’t return to see how good it got towards the end of the season

There haven't been many good ecchi anime in the last few years, and I think Vermeil in Gold is one of them.

Keep in mind that every ecchi anime is rated 0.6 lower just because it's ecchi. 7.47 would make sense, for a non-ecchi version of Vermeil in Gold (even though an ecchi fan would like it less, but that's how the majority thinks).

Good ecchi doesn't come around very often. Don't get me wrong though. This wasn't good for an ecchi. This was good regardless. I loved it. The ecchi was just a bonus.

Finally a Kinsou no Vermeil appreciation post!!!

I mean the ratings don't clearly tell the potential of this show at all

First four episodes were definitely generic and quite ecchi driven but as the show progressed further it actually got better and even though it hasn't something where you call that it is peak or top or something like that but it definitely grabs your emotions especially in the episode 11, it was too dark & I rate it as one of the best ever episodes that I watched this year and it was definitely one of my most favourite show of this year

One more thing: The romance in this show wasn't forced unlike in many other animes, the romance shown in the anime between Alto and Vermeil works very well as they complement each other very well so what I mean is that the ratings on this site are totally meaningless and this show is lot more than oppais or ecchi

Never take ratings seriously here there’s some anime I’ve watched that were masterpieces in my opinion and only an average 7 for the majority! I think each rating is how or what the anime meant to you as a person and differs between everyone but overall I’d say this is a great anime and worth the watch

the history itself is good but the direction of the anime was also very bad

The show starts off very strong but the antagonist(s) def bring the quality down a bit overall I gave it an 8 prolly more like a 7.5 in actuality tho it’s worth watching

Personally, my wife and I liked it. Now, that depends on your taste. We like romantic comedies whether ecchi or not. We liked both the story and main characters Alto and Vermeil. But it seems that people tend to hate ecchi no matter what.

Well, I dropped it so I wouldn't know how bad it got. I just didn't feel like watching another generic ecchi seasonal.

characters are damn interesting

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

I see so often that people think ratings are super bad when they are just objectively not. It's at 6.8-ish, so somewhere between "fine" and "good" where it belongs. Thie show was not awesome, groundbreaking or had something like crazy animation. Just another run of the mill fantasy story with a focus on ecchi and it was decent at that.

Vermeil is decent, and I like her relationship with Alto, even if it can be a little repetitive. But the rest of it? Generously 4/10. Painfully generic, terribly written, and only serves to get in the way of the good parts of the show, though even the good parts get stale by the end.

I can understand how some people might have still enjoyed it, and there's nothing wrong with that, but it's truly a bad show.

Like, the best part of the last arc (about a third of the show) was when it got interrupted for a completely unrelated flashback, because at least that was about Vermeil. And then it ends, the bad guys peace out for no good reason, and Alto spends the whole last episode just talking about getting stronger to protect his demon mommy, who might I add, has all but lost her ara ara vibes, which I'm sure is why half of the audience started watching in the first place.

The show's just so painfully generic, yet it still manages to disappoint, because it only gets worse.

Look, it wasn't the worst thing I've ever watched, but it definitely could've been better. The pacing felt slow at times, but I think that's due to the fact that the manga somehow got an adaptation when there were only 13 or 14 chapters out (I mean really, I thought this was a manga adaptation of a LN given how slow the chapters come out). The final "fight" (if you can call it that) was kinda lame.

I'm not normally one to say this, but in this case I think it needs to be said: just give us more uncensored big titty demon onee-san. This manga/anime would be more enjoyable with a more comedic/lighthearted tone - when it tried to get serious in ch15/ep11, to me that was a step in the wrong direction.

Still, I'll watch a second season for Vermeil and Chris (who doesn't like a stacked Tanya?)

Probably don't take it seriously. Many people simply have bad taste. For example, while there are plenty of people that Can see DomeKano as a Masterpiece, many people in myanimelist seem to hate domestic na kanojo. I think most people hate Onee-san type characters.
I honestly love vermeil , my favorite type of Onee-san type character.

It's not bad, but unless you haven't seen many anime or you're new to it, it very much does just seem generic. The sad scenes weren't very sad as you could literally see it coming from a mile away. It's not better than most shounens (and even some of the best are considered average content to some). Someone compared it to BC but that'd be if BC was more generic and less fleshed out (which is hard enough as is, let's be real it had 100+ episodes to attempt to break free of its tropes and obvious plot).

The shit was unwatchable. Maybe I just despise pitiful characters, but honestly this show had horrible story, no maturity, just crap. I dropped it after 4-5 episodes with disgust. At no point i enjoyed it, just wanted to figure out where the show was going, until I realized that it was just crap. I know many bitch about the rating system, but this crap is below 6, as in average garbage not worth the time, unless you have a specific interest for the type of anime.

i just completed it , and the ratings definitely don't seem right
ik it's harem and combat scenes are small but still ratings are meh 😑
for me, I gave it a 7/10 , could be around 7.5 actually
