I like that we’re getting more info even this late in the series. So Heine can “birth” multiple shadows but her “kids” can only “birth” one. And then those “grandkids” can’t do anything but transform. And if they don’t erase their human, the copies die in a week huh? Seems like Ushio is closer to Heine than Shadow Mio. But with Heine gone, no surprise her “kids” all die. Really learning a lot about Shadow biology.

I like Shadow Mio now. She was an evil bitch but now she’s cool lol. Glad to have her on the team. Shadow Mio asking Shinpei about whether he has a gf in Tokyo or not really makes her feel like the real Mio lol.

Doc Hishigata helping the shadows makes sense now that we know why, but still it was selfish and foolish to trust the shadows. He really went as far as trying to kill his own daughter. I’m glad he’s helping Shinpei now though, but damn dude. Shinepei’s parents though? I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised. Although I wasn’t expecting Shide to be the first director of the clinic and a relative of Sou and the Doc. That’s pretty wild! Being the firstborn must be the reason he’s so damn strong.

But now we know about Shide and about Henie’s goal of taking her “kids” to some kind of Shadow Eden. All that’s left is to stop them and get back Ushio’s body. It’s gonna be a tough road ahead for the gang. The gang got the drop on the shadows the last ep, but this time Heine and Shide are gonna be ready for ‘em.

Damn this anime is boring. The classic "make your enemies your allies" is such an overused trope. The characters are underwhelming and I couldn't care less about the plot. I've stuck to it up to this point so I might as well finish it.

You watched SIXTEEN episodes of an anime yet proceed to call it boring??? something clearly isn't right with your head

Question to manga readers
How good is the pacing?
I enjoyed the last few eps but this one felt rushed and pretty lackluster in terms of character development, felt like something was missing.
Would you recommend the manga over the anime at this point or is it a decent adaptation?

Story just becomes more deeper.

I do like Mio new shadow personality and Ushio hair style just suits her with short hair and badass

Ushio doesn't regret being dead? she took that a bit too lightly in that scene.
I mean of course everyone will die someday, but she died before her best years and in a terrible way.

Shadow Mio is so damn cool, even Shide will wet his shadow underwear before her out of fear.

Lol the nurse stole the corpse (again?), good Shinpei decided not to follow the obvious super bad end trap.

So, did the art director bail out of the project or what? This was sad to watch and not because this had important dramatic moments for the story, those were hard to focus on. I mean, props for the art team for mostly keeping the consistency in the design and individual frames at least tolerable, but the mess in the camera work and pacing...

Also, when that Negoro lady starts doing her shocking evil speech, then the camera turns to Shinpei just fucking unloading his gun on her, that shit was hilarious.

Another great episode, we get a lot of information about the shadows and what their end goal is. I feel bad that shadow Ushio will die when Haine dies but I admire her bravery. Hopefully regular Mio stays alive as that was Shinpei's original goal I believe. I'm curious about Shide's background and what will happen next. 👍

Ushio having the power to turn any Shadow they meet onto their side is such a massive writing cop out on a number of levels. As was trying to wring emotion out of Tokiko being shot, only to instantly reveal that it was in fact Shadow Mio: does the show seriously think Tokiko is a character we care enough about to be sad about her potentially dying and happy for it to not be the case?

Also, I know I was asking for it for ages, but I find Haine's reason for doing all of this to be really stupid, not to mention that it's obviously being done to try and humanise the Shadows when they're beings that really don't deserve it: what is with so many anime in recent seasons trying to humanise irredeemable antagonists like this?

Why has my investment in this show just completely diminished into nothingness in this second cour?

Damn. I completely agree though. Now that things are being revealed I'm getting really disappointed.

I felt bad for the mother and the kids but not the doctor. That mofo was too blind in love with his wife that he shot his own daughter without hesitation. But, some more mysteries were revealed in this episode. It was another great episode.

Why are people surprised about Ushio's shadow eventually disappearing? I thought that was already a given unless they pull some shenanigans with some kind of twist..

The dad is a scumbag and a horrible person. He doesn't deserve a redemption arc
this ep was a tad better but I still 100% think that ever since second half started the writing has gone downhill tremendously which is a shame cause it started off p good

Now they have the Mio shadow on their side and managed to "fix" the Hishigata father's situation, so the shadows' aim is to reach that "paradise" for them where they can only live here as shadows and that's why the Hishigata father wanted to turn the whole Hishigata family into shadows so they can live her together... also looks like Shide is a previous Hishigata member... and it's also not surprising at least to learn that Shinpei's parents got killed by shadows back then

Read through the posts so far, and yea, I agree that the doctor's "storyline" was sloppy. He went from murdering his own daughter w/o second thoughts to being on their side within an hour??? What a cheap character.

However, that's not why I came to this discussion for. Hopefully someone can help clarify something I might have missed.

In the beginning of this episode when Shinpei interrogated Shadow Mio, she said that she was copied the day before, the day of the wake(21st), then was created later at night in the cave.

But... wasn't Shadow Mio copied the day Ushio died (on the 20th), as Shinpei deducted in an earlier episode because Shadow Mio was wearing white panty, and real Mio was wearing stripe panty on the day of Ushio's wake. Also, if Shadow Mio was created in the cave later that night on the day of the wake, how did she cut the wires of real Mio's bicycle at the start of the day of the wake?

Just wondering if I missed some factors of how they are shifting through different timelines for each loop. I know that what has happened in the previous timeline before the new loop start point of the new timeline is rendered true in the new timeline too, so by that logic, Shadow Mio was still created the day before the wake as how Shinpei deducted in a previous loop.

Or was that purely a mistake in the dialogues?

These kind of nuances bugs me a lot because to me it ruins my experience of watching the show. Is like I am not paying enough attention and that I don't have all the details to fully appreciate the show....

Oh no Hishigata ancestor was the one behind the big-four arm shadow. Now how to take care of em its not a think that you can handle by yourself, Shinpei! Now what's the mean behind Haine's eyes saying something so absurd? More and more puzzle needs to be solve later!

Well that laid down the crap, another information dump. Very tense.

The pace is like a roller coaster in this show, at this point it doesn't feel like it's on purpose, it's just herky jerky because they were adapting this at the speed of light in the time constraints they had.

Overall I like the mystery portion of the show, so it's unfortunate to get the reveal so soon. I liked imagining all the mysteries and seeing the bubbles popped so quickly is sad.

A lot of cool reveals here though. It seems like we're right at the final hour, I don't know what intrigue there is to find anymore.
