I didn't really like this because of how distracting the artstyle and contortions were and how the dialogue was pretty hard to follow since one thing happened after another.

I haven't read this one but I liked Metamorphosis a lot so I'm sure that I'm going to like the original story too since I'll be able to read and visualize at my own pace.

This was really interesting to watch. I was at first interested in this because of Yamamura but then I noticed this film gives an eerie vibe from the very beginning. I think the weird moving animation, music, and the overall art is what intrigued me enough to see this to the end.

I want to sleep...

I read Kafka's story after watching this, and I gotta say they did justice. It's a word by word adaptation.
It's a very short read, so if anyone want to here's the link

Kafka is one of the most interesting authors I have had the pleasure of reading.

Inaka Isha (A Country Doctor) is a short story, but it raises the concept of being just a small token of his quality as an author. This short film was put to very good use and faithfully built on the goals and emotions of the original material. Very good!

Love the artwork and animation. So different, but so perfectly matching the content of the original short story (which I skim read after watching the film, which seems like almost a word for word adaption). Everything from the way the body proportions constantly changing, it just made for a very visual surreal experience that I really enjoyed. The sound and atmosphere was also excellent.

The actual content of the story and characters are weaker. It's an interesting work, enough that I went out and read analysis of it. This one by interesting literature was really cool. None of that it was I initially thought, I guess I got a more blatant interpretation of how he's treated as a doctor, almost an expected miracle worker who gets very little in return, nobody willing to help him and no strong agency himself to do what he'd rather do which seemingly is to save Rosa from her inevitable rape. I think the linked interpretation is a lot more fascinating though.

My rating really waivered between a 7 and 8, but even as much as I love the visual presentation, I think I'm going with a 7/10.

Interesting take on the story, though it feels like the person forcing their perspective rather than actually intepreting the movie. To me, the whole thing felt like an escapist tale - the doctor keeps coming up with justifications to not treat the patient and leave as soon as possible - "he's not sick" (he is), "he actually wants to die himself" (it's the opposite), "my maid is going to be raped" (the last scene shows only 2 shadows - the doctor's and the maid's, questioning whether the groom existed at all, or was part of the doctor's escapist delusion to justify going back ASAP and not doing what he's expected to).

That the doctor didn't bother to dress up before going back is...certainly strange. Those pigs too.

I think if Franz Kafka was still alive and was able to watch this, he would really be so proud. I like the contortions, as Kafka did to some of the characters in his stories. :)

I have no idea what was happening.
It was full of Weird & Distorted Animation, with a Eerie atmosphere.
Hard to rate but Good just for being different.
