Kojirou's reaction to Musashi may be cold but also makes sense from his perspective. Musashi should be careful around that Shirou guy. He's suspicious enough already with unknown intentions, although he seems to be interested in going after the the 'black stone'.

Looks like Musashi is still fighting his inner demons and those dark memories. Yikes, this show really wanted us to experience what his childhood was like, regardless how sad it was. I think this episode had far less comedy compared to some o the previous episodes.

Wow. Shiro is so damn strong.

Poor Musashi. His backstory was so tragic.

I really liked the dark atmosphere of this episode.

What a tasteless way to show that Bushi is being discriminated in Musashi's village and Musashi and Kojirou family are the victim. However the relationship between Musashi and Kojirou is legit. Talking about Musashi and Kojirou, I'm wondering if they're based on Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojirou duel folktale...

This episode was decent, I liked seeing Shiro flex his power.
Seems like Orient is pulling the same shonen trope as so many other anime has done with the whole "inner demon/power" that the main character has.

Generic, but decent.

So Musashi actually shares an affinity with the Nameless Dog Shiro Inukai, that their power ambience is the "Black" forsaken castaways, and being their very own Kitetsu Blade.

While Kojiro, Tsugumi and the other Bushi travel up the mountain to face the Kishin, the open realization of Musashi's backstory as an ordinary weirdo of a farmer and being friends with Kojiro (which then was a Bushi kid in training that people hated so much) that saved his burgeoning life, it's just quite typical.

Think of the large pit as Musashi forced to training and getting used to his Black power by Shiro and Nanao Inusaka (damn Crunchyroll got her name translation wrong) while dragging out his real objective: the Obsidian Goddess. The atrocity of Musashi's past as the son whom survived an epidemic, only to be shunned by others since his friendship with Kojiro earned him the same amount of ridicule, it's as if Musashi's a fleeting ghost in a sea of people being a kid whom does not know the "traditions" of a discrimination culture.

This is probably just as mediocre-ly decent as Shonen tropes go, for real.

Great episode! We get to see Musashi's backstory which was very sad to see. Also, that guy wants to turn him into a kitetsu blade and Musashi also has someone inside of him?

Looking forward to the next episode!

Musashi fell into the pits and lava. I hope he survives the trial. Is that the goddess he met?

Well this episode went by quick.

That black robed dude turned out to be evil and fucked up. Fucker wants to turn Mushashi into a Kitetsu balde wtf, even says he will turn his friends into blades as well, wtf? He's quite OP though, being evil and OP is not a good combination.

It seems like Mushashi has some special Obsidian goddess inside of him and that black robed dude wants her. He threw Mushashi into that pit, which was quite deep. Now Mushashi tried to escape from the pit but that goddess took over him and traped him in back stones inside the lava.

We then see Mushashi's back story, it was tragic to say the least and he did some bad things out of desperation. Those memories are triggered by that goddess and they come back to haunt him.

We see that Oyaji and Mushashi hang out together in previous episodes so I think maybe the Oyaji had forgiven him?

That goddess goes from kawai to kowai real quick. She has now trapped Mushashi in the stones forever, wonder how Mushashi's gonna get out of this.

Seeing that he's the MC, he's gonna come back somehow, that's for sure.

Pretty great episode overall. I'm glad I stuck with this all these weeks, the first 5 or so episodes were mid and I'm sure many will agree with me but this has become good since episode 6.

5/5. Looking forward to next one.

probably. Either that or the episode after that. With 3 episodes left there is likely not enough to have another important storyline/arc happen afterwards.

NGL, I like the concepts of this series the world design is very unique so I am enjoying it. A bit sad that we are almost at the end of the season.

Got to say, for an antagonistic goal of "turning you into a sword" is a bit of a new one. Very creative. Also interesting that this guy plans on turning his friends into a sword as well? Can't tell if this is a lie to create a sense of urgency or he is serious.

Oh so the op kid was Musashi after all, how can i not knowing that until now. Then, thats how Musashi also got that black stone, and its also resided some power inside, somehow called the obsidian goddess. Interesting setup. Pretty dark with how Musashi parents ended. Thats why they called the black souls owner as a forsaken, because Musashi literally being forsaken on the past, and he just already been forsaken by his two friends too. While in fact Kojiro not entirely left behind him. Fuckin devil villagers, why they even saved them before. Musashi just on a big dilemma and trapped inside, or shall i say, he became the black stone. Musashi really need to figure out there's something more on the past, he's not entirely the forsaken one, overcome the power of Obsidian Goddess and instead take control of it. With that, he might've been able to use kitetsu blade as he wish, and tell those mysterious dude in black robe to get the fuck out of there without hurting anyone with his whatever intentions. Lets see...

This episode is confused, am I understand the timeline correct here?

1. When Mushashi was a kid, he and his parents already made friend with Kojiro and his dad.

2. Then Mushashi parent is dead, he got adopted and ask to throw stone to Kojiro's dad which at this point should know who is Mushashi.

3. ??? Kojiro's dad didn't tell Kojiro about Mushashi throwing stone at him

4. ??? Kojiro's dad passed away, Kojiro became orphan while Mushashi left the house?? and join the school??

5. Mushashi and Kojiro still remain being friend without Kojiro knowing the truth of throwing stone till today??

Or all those memories were altered by Obsidian Goddess in this episode?

oof tho so im guessing kojiro knows none of that shit? how musashi was after his parents' death and how he got to redeem himself to fit in with people. i wonder if thats tied up to how kojiro's dad died

shiro probably killed that futuristic looking oni at the end

Unfortunately Musashi was tricked and is now going through a very unexpected situation. He also had to go through a lot of difficult and sad situations when he was younger and now his true purpose has been revealed.

What a harsh flashback from Musashi...i guess if he passed that trial..then a power boost huh? cuz there's no way Tsugumi & Kojirou would be able to save Musashi from that bottomless pit!
5/5.

About time this backstory and stuff make their presence too. But well that's the fate of someone having demon inside him, isn't it?
