Holy hell, the return of this show really bought in the thrilling sensation of this anime. The first half episode imo, was nothing short of a showstopper featuring vampiric based action and tense moments.

I also kinda like how the episode took place outside in the snowy fields, a sharp contrast compared to part 1. Vanitas and Noe also had their amusing chemistry. However, I also kinda like the psychological element of this episode. Really executed well.

The 1st Cour in Summer was wonderful, and we start the 2nd Cour with the Beast of Gévaudan.

Little Glee Monster's OP and Mononkul's 2nd Cour OST are good, but nowhere as great as sasanomaly and LMYK for the 1st Cour.

Vanitas and Noé with her cat Murr are back, along with assistants Johann and Dante to find the illusive Beast of Gévaudan in the Silver Forest. But deep into the Silver Forst as Noe is being lost in the woods, and immediately the unsettlement sets in as the snow kicks in, and dragoons are also hunting the Beast down in a timeline shift back in time caused by curse-bearer malnomen.

Both Vanitas and Noé, one facing the Beast of Gévaudan and being saved by the Hellfire Witch Jeanne, the other facing yet another Chasseur: the trap, the youngest paladin, the Chasseurs' problem child: Astolfo Granatum of Garnet. More than hunting beasts, the Chasseurs also hunts vampires, and Noé is really in a bad position that he didn't face Chasseurs as frenetic like Roland the Jasper.

The players all gather together from the same occurrence, and Vanitas never ceases to amaze with his fantasy humour to face and mock Astolfo. But in a twist, more than not eliminating the Beast, the entire snow woods of malnomen turns into yet another Charlatan affair of mockingbirds to all, the hardest hit being Astolfo. And for once, Vanitas loses his control of the Book...which leads into an entirely different case of "what the hell just happened", and of a history between what looks to be a dishevelled Vanitas and Chloe with Noé appearing to be dead.

The timeline changes as Vanitas continues in style.

Oh it’s back, back after a short while. And so our main duo Vanitas and Noé, on their way to the forest of Gévaudan. But by no means they were expecting things to get this messier, first with the presence of that large beast and then Astolfo, who really did give a tough time to Noé. But Vanitas with his provocation though, well he never misses any means to amuse. Also kinda unexpected turn of events in the end there, too much to contain tbh, which really left me curious for coming events.

Also the new OP seems good enough but still that first one for me, but that’s not with the ED though.

I miss this anime since Summer 2021 ended and now it’s finally back! also nice how it started with Noe just complimenting some town in Gavaudan while Vanitas is complaining about the cold weather, also nice to see Dante and Johann, ahh I miss everyone here, it’s just what makes everything in this anime very comedy sub-centered >u< Of course I’ve been liking Little Glee Monster since their MHA S2 debut and as expected they all harmonized well and this is probably their best debut yet~ Astolfo was one of the character that we see as a sneak peek in the last episode of the 1st cour and we're finally going to witness the Noe vs Astolfo and this is pretty impeccable, fight choreography and the emotion between these characters are shown beautifully, Jeanne comeback though while a beast appeared and during that moment, Vanitas starting to heat up the provocation about a Chasseur LMAOOO but moreover, the shadows are disastrous, almost potraying like they're bringing a burden to these characters and the book that Vanitas hold preciously is out of the hand which causes a massive *BOOM* and sneek peek for the new characters, Chloe and Jean, looking forward to seeing them more on screen. If I have to be honest that I wasn't a fan of the ED at first but listening to the TV version is so good and visually feels like a fresh air :) Overall my day is immeasureable and my life is saved, first episode is already too good to be true.

They're finally in Gévaudan and damn the action part was already crazy against the giant beast and Astolfo while Vanitas was provocating him that much xD though after the whole trippy segment with Chloé's appearance it's kinda worrying, I hope that Noé is fine and that they're not in a worse situation now.

Alright episode.

New season, but not much has changed since the first cour; good animation and VA, but characters sometimes get too over the top for my liking.

Hopefully the new setting and characters will add to the overall story.

They really should stop with the chibi segments, it kinda ruins the tension they've been building up. That said, I'm glad this is back.

It be the author's style tho in her other series too like Pandora Hearts as well, even if I also don't like the comedy here. It doesn't feel too bad in the manga but in anime form, it's more apparent and slower to get through so it feels more immersion breaking then.

I don't know what it was about this episode that got to me, but while I never enjoyed the comedy and how it came across in the anime compared to not being much of a bother in the manga, this episode though did annoy me somewhat with the comedy and the timing of it. Something about this episode felt excessive in amount, more than the normal standards. If I complain about this aspect in Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen, I have to do it here too. It was rough to get through not gonna lie and spoiled the episode for me.

Other than that, the action in the 2nd half of the episode was solid and some of the backgrounds were really good and really made the loss of control of the book turn to an eccentric and weird sequence there. Astolfo's introduction was alright too. It is nice to see most of the cast back too and the series back in business, and I only know this will improve even more as time progresses at least.

I never loved the opening and ending songs for the first cour and sadly, the same thing applies here. They ain't bad, but doesn't really groove with me. Man I miss the opening for Pandora Hearts so much, that's still one of the best opening songs I've heard personally that fit the series so well too.

Overall, it was a below-average premiere that got back to the swing of things really quickly with mysterious and intense events already taking place, but it wasn't a consistently enjoyable experience either that was not helped by the fact that the comedy felt really excessive and frankly terrible in particular for this episode. The story and general content in the premiere should improve though as the cour progresses so this episode should not be an indicator or general level for the whole cour but only to go up from here.

This cour from early impressions of Winter 2021, could probably be my Anime of the Season if it's the same level as the first cour since this season as a whole is a trainwreck. As far as premieres go, it's still one of the better premieres of the season but I'd take the Dress Up Darling one over this, even though I have the premiere for that at an average score too. I've read the manga for both and Vanitas' story improves while Dress Up Darling's repetitive and formulaic so I have more faith in Vanitas here for the long run of the cour, even with a fairly poor start for its standards.

WTF!!!! A MIND BLOWING EPISODE! WHAT A GREAT COMEBACK!!!

Started chill and fun, then it went BOOM! Time travel or time control by the Witch?! Whatever it is, this makes it more fascinating!

Didn't expect that Beast of Gévaudan to be that humongous!

Then Astolfo entered! Such a maniac, heartless Chasseur with anger management problem! lol. But, Vanitas is more savage, expert trashtalker, everything hit the right spot! LMAO

Jeanne is fire!!! She knows the Beast though, are they friends? Didn't also expect that the Beast in human form is so cute. lol

Then Charlatan entered revealing some of Astolfo and Jeanne's past traumas! WTF! lol. Then Vanitas' book was cut from its chain meaning they were left inside the Charlatan's world/spell! WTF! lol

Vanitas and Noé clearly understand each other much better now, wanna see Vanitas fully open up to Noé and bring that wall down.

OPED are both good! Chill vibes but kinda sad. Noé is so handsome in that OP hairstyle.

AGAIN. WHAT A GREAT EPISODE!

As much as I did enjoy Part 1, Part 2 being clumsy right out the gates has me worried. While it still has the intriguing story elements and zany cast of characters, everything else feels very disoriented, which isn't surprising considering how much hot water Aniplex has previously been in. The pacing continues to feel off, many of the scenes and sequences feel awkward poorly handled, and the production continues to seem rusty. A lot of odd priorities here and there as well. This is pretty sad, tbh, consider how good the manga is, though it's nowhere near a complete disgrace as an adaptation as of right now. Regardless, this is an entry I'm very mixed on, as I had some hope in it being decent considering how mediocre this season has looked overall already.

I completely agree with you. I don't particularly like these songs as well. The opening for this season is okay at best for me, while the ending is just not to my taste. However, I do love the opening & ending of the first season.

Vanitas is back with 2nd part and just like the first part, the OP is really good. I was expecting it just like how it is. LOL. Vanitas and Noe's relationship is still the same which is adorable. This time around, Johaan and Dante are tagging along which is fun to see.

Astolfo is a psycho and Jeanne managed to fight against the beast. Vanitas is really good at manipulating his enemies. LMAO. But, what happened there at the end and Chloe??? The ED is cool as well.

The OP and ED have good songs, but not as good as season 1. The visuals are honestly, meh in terms of concept.

Loved the craziness of the episode and it all felt like a 22 minute trailer for some reason. There are awkward scene transitions though. Favorite part was Jeanne protecting Vanitas and Vanitas protecting Jeanne within a span of 10 minutes XD. Murase Ayumu is perfect as Astolfo. Jean-Jacques and Chloe look dope.

Let's hope next episode onwards it is not so frenetic. Chaos is good when it isn't confusing.

Nice to see this show come back, although my main gripe with this episode was the comedic chibi moments. I think the only one I really liked was when Vanitas was intentionally baiting Astolfo to piss him off. However, it was a pretty solid start to the 2nd half, and the action was great. I'm looking forward to seeing how this story continues.

Hmm, the monster looks like a furry, Noe is either weak or dumb to let himself almost get killed over and over because of his 'kind' heart.. Kindness is not a bad attribute, but combinated with naivity, makes a recipe for a quick RIP but he has protagonist protection/luck so that won't happen so early... Jeanne came out of nowhere and it seems like the beast just stands there, menacingly watching, getting its ass kicked and obliterated by her but somehow takes no damblage... Then comes Charlatane with that cheap distorted generic voice and cringe lines...
They fight puppets, Vanitas opens book, Noe teleports somewhere in time, little girl and oni chan find him.. The end. Oh, forgot the angry little girl named obviously 'Astolfo', very original...

It's the first episode though so it's alright, things can get better, but for some reason it feels a little dry...

Straight into the action, gotta love it!!

Honestly was a little sad to see them leaving Paris, but it seems that Jeanne has chased after them either way, for some unfinished business.

No matter what Anime you take, Astolfo will always be some red-headed girl-like dude, I did chuckle a bit when I saw him get introduced.

Chloe was already teased at the end of the first cour, but this was quite a good introduction. Action was pretty good, music was great. Overall a great return for Vanitas.

fun episode and great start to the second part for me! good to see quite a few characters from the first part stick with us as well as some new introductions, especially astolfo who might give a new perspective on the chaussers.
lots of action which I wasn’t expecting but was really fun, with jeanne vs the massive beast! also with the interference of charlatan and the mysterious chloe it looks like there’s gonna be a lot going on in this part.
a lot of people are saying they don’t like the chibi segments and i somewhat agree that they do undercut some of the seriousness of the situation and can be distracting, I’m not the biggest fan. however I can enjoy them more than I hate them and they can work in this scenario where we might be getting a lot of tension that needs to be relieved.
new op and ed weren’t too exciting but they have the chance to grow on me for sure.

There could not have been, yesterday, a better gift for my birthday, if not the beginning of the anime series that I was waiting for most of all or almost of this winter season 2022. In the episode there was everything, from the tight narrative rhythm to situations full of action, with a final twist, which redeems that small error, which would be the telegraphed action of Vanitas in defending Giovanna from Astolfo's assault. The soundtrack was excellent, the quality of the drawings and animations was more than good. The opening was nicer than the previous one in terms of sound. I can't wait for the next episode.

P.S. Now all I have to do is re-watch the first season and comment on it for the first time here on MAL, yes, because when I'm on vacation, the heat makes me want to write, even if I would like to. Ah! Unfortunately the spirit is strong, but the flesh is weak. XD

I think this was a difficult episode to adapt, what with so many things happening. To me, the pacing felt a bit off, with a few too abrupt cuts when they switched in-between characters, and I did miss a few lines regarding Astolfo that I don't remember if it will come up in the future. The humour is, as always, a hit or miss in the anime, as the flow of things makes it difficult to adapt without interrupting the tone of the scene, as opposed to the manga, where it's easier to digest.

Either way, I think it was a decent start, and hopefully they up their game even more as the season progresses. Things are about to get interesting, and I hope they deliver!

On a side note, I really enjoyed Astolfo's voice actor, and I'm really happy the wolf isn't fully CGI. Oh, and also, Jeanne was really badass in this episode, and I'm a fan of how they adapted her moment with Noé!

Goddamn, and we're only on the first episode. We are now at my favorite arc so far in the series. The Vanitas opening back at it again with virtually zero spoilers, just aesthetics.

Murase Ayumu is doing fantastic as Astolfo, we know he usually voices femboys, but there's aggression in Astolfo's performance that we don't usually see from him, it's cool. With how action pack this start was, hopefully we slow down a bit. Really looking forward to the next episode.

It's finally back.

I missed watching Vanitas' way of provoking the enemy XD

Many of you are not liking the chibi comic parts anymore and here I enjoy those parts more than the actual plot.

The new OP is good both visually and the song itself. But I'm not really satisfied with the ED. It's OK the visuals are fine too but it lacks the impactfulness that the previous one 0(zero) by LMYK had. Also this one seems quite short. But one thing is still the same, both OP and ED is Vanitas and Noe focused.

Somehow the hype for this anime seems to have decreased, probably cuz of the super hyped ones airing at the same time...
