So I don't know if anyone noticed it or not but listen,I just finished watching the movie and it seems violet never spoke the words "I LOVE YOU TOO". I mean I get it ,the things she feels towards him but she never replied him back. All she ever did say was thank you but never the actual words. So should I assume it was one-sided(most probably not) or is it that violet never knew the way she felt so she was a bit confused about her own feelings?

I assume its the latter, you are led to believe that she does but she cant express herself properly.

I think she was way too OVERWHELMED to see Gilbert after so many years and confess his feelings head on. She was literally chocking on her tears... I can understand how she would be feeling, unable to utter any word but she did love him.

In anime literally girl don't hide there feelings towards a boy but in this they try to the reality (opposite) where she is hiding their and it really hard for her to confess

it was so glaringly obvious the kyoto people were trying to averting the romance part as much as possible

But she did? In the letter she gave to him at the end she wrote, "and now that I know what love is, I love you too."

I really liked the way they handled the ending. They left most of the romantic stuff up to implications, while the focus was much more on their actual reunion. Now that Violet has grown into her own person who can exist without Gilbert, seeing them finally meet again and the way they portrayed it was great imo.

She knows she love Gilbert, but since she still haven't fully understand what "I love you" means, she can't Express her feelings properly.

Yeah that actually really annoyed me. The entire time I thought it was building up to her saying "I love you too."

But she doesn't say I?!?!?!?! whAt?

That's one of the reasons why I was disappointed with this movie. It really is all about how she wanted to communicate to him that she understands what "I love you" means and that she finally experienced what love it. The ending was very frustrating and rushed in my opinion. For me, Violet could've showed good signs of development and growth by voicing those words, but KyoAni didn't do that. And since the source material and the adaptation are quite different, I can't seem to understand their choice of keeping us hanging like that.
I sometimes forget to finish my sentences.

Violet and Gilbert's relationship was not necessarily romantic. There was affection and love, but it didn't have to be romantic. That's why all of that stuff is left to interpretation and imagination.

I just checked in the movie, and she wrote, "And since I found out what love is, I've wanted to say the words back at you." It may depend on the subs (cause when I watched it in the theater what I wrote is what the subs said), but you hear her say "aishiteru" twice in the letter, so I'm led to believe that she did write I love you back to him.

I agree with this. My feeling was that she finally DID understand and know what "I love you" means and that she honestly felt that way. And because of that, it was this "wow, this is a lot to take in" moment for her. Knowing what it means and that she feels that way towards Gilbert. I mean, watching that last scene it's kinda hard to see it and not think they romantically love each other.

In the final letter she wrote "I love you". I imagine it was too hard for her to speak, with gestures like kicking her leg and biting her lips, just plethora of emotions that she has been holding all that time.
