So this is the final game? Neku is still willing to do what it takes to protect what he wants.

Mitsuki's presence gave me the chills, definitely someone to keep an eye on. Never thought I'd seen Neku and Beat teaming up to kick some ass. Then again, he needs all the help he can get in this game.

The final week and this time Neku’s partner is Beat! They’re a fun duo, so I’m excited to see more of them. Beat’s jumping into action at the start of the episode was some fun stuff, haha.

We also got to find out what happened with Rhyme and what Beat’s whole goal was; aiming to become the composer of Shibuya to turn Rhyme back to normal. Noise Rhyme is pretty adorable though, lol.

Noise Rhyme was taken away and the stakes are higher now with the Reapers going after Beat and Neku due to the emergency announcement. Not looking too good for the two. And lol, the Reapers calling Beat by his first name was funny. Name’s not cool enough for Beat to use XD

Two days adapted, though the talk about Beat’s overall goals was from Day 3, so it’s almost like two-and-a-half days adapted. Really liked how they handed this episode though. I liked how the emergency announcement was an actual broadcast from Konishi. The broadcast and her appearance at the end of the episode wasn’t in the game, so she feels more involved with the story with the way they’re handling her character.

And the action in this episode was pretty good too. Pacing was mostly good, though the fight with 777 was quite short. Hopefully they keep up the pacing and give this week another three more episodes, especially since the 7th Day is incredibly long and would probably need more than one episode. All-in-all, the anime has gotten a noticeable improvement in pacing and directing since the start of the second week. A couple of oddly composed scenes aside, this adaptation is not too bad.

Neku is in his final game but he has no partner, to begin with, this time. Luckily, Beat betrayed the Reapers and joined Neku's side as his partner.

Both of them have to together in order to complete this game, as the entry fees from Beat, she took the Noise that Hanekoma gave him, supposedly it had Rhyme's soul which was precious to Beat. An emergency call has been granted by the game master to all the reapers and they ask to erase Beat along with Neku. The game's gonna be really hard like that.

At least Neku isn't alone and has Beat as a partner, they need to save Shiki and Rhyme...
I hope that they'll find and beat Konishi as soon as possible, she's really annoying.

The final game of Neku's, and any failure is NOT tolerated. Utilize these 7 days well against Week 3's Game Master Mitsuki Konishi.

The only Player benig Neku, and Reapers Uzuki and Kariya just doing their jobs to release Noise, and most importantly: Reaper Beat to the rescue as a partner. Noise Rhyme looks adorable though. Trying to challenge to be in charge of the position of Composer to turn lives lost back into humans, that's a big objective.

Putting the ground on Emergency Call and requiring all Reapers to have Outlet/Red Skull Pins (or formally O-Pins), Kitaniji makes such a move because it's Neku and traitor Beat (converted into a Player, and having Noise Rhyme be taken as an entry fee). A first warning for Day 1.

Day 2, and Mitsuki's "find the person" mission may look simple, but with the onslaught of Reapers with Beat and Neku as prime targets, Such a fancy one-sided fight to the survival against both Reapers and Noise.

Would've liked to see more action between the both of them and 777, but it benig short is primary to move the plot with the giving of his keypin and the consequence being erasure.

All things aside, it's mostly being faithful to the game for the final stretch.

Let's hope that this is Neku's actual final game.

Beat's finally came to his senses after that final game, and has even betrayed the reapers to team with Neku.

Even though they're the only two players, it doesn't feel as lonely as I'd have thought.

its the final week now huh and Beat and Neku are the new and last team

but ye whats up with making all the Reapers attack them at once and even given the Reapers a power up

and Rhyme became a Noise? does that mean every player that died in the game become Noise too?

Good episode, everything's gone to shit now thanks to our zetta boi Minamimoto lmao. Tsundere Daisukenojo Bito *cough* I mean Beat finally officially teamed up with Neku, it's only the 2 of them left. Did I miss it or did they not mention what Neku's entry fee was for the third game? I like Kariya and Yashiro, they just doing their jobs, I hope they don't get erased. RIP to the band reaper dude though. Ngl though, I want Konishi to step on me too lmao.

I dont know if the episode outright states it, but Neku's entry fee was all the other players taking part in this game, as the thing he valued most was a partner to survive the game and finally save his friends

Pleased again. I actually think this adaptation ended up being a decent one all things considered. Since 2nd week started and everything has been going pretty smooth so far. Shame about the shit show in the first week though.

Week 1 wasnt that bad. It had the problem of being the tutorial week, so they cut from that to make room for the very likely adaptation of A New Day at the end. If anything it was episode 1 that was bad. 2 and 3 were pretty good

I liked this episode. Unlike the previous two, the third week doesn't rely on too much character development or worldbuilding, so it's pretty well suited for a condensed television adaptation. I found myself enjoying the whole complication with Beat and Neku having a bounty placed on their heads, especially since I thought it was handled pretty underwhelmingly in the game.

Anyways, Beat finally makes his appearance. He's my least favourite of Neku's partners, but I still like him. I'm glad they decided to cut through all the mystery surrounding his character since it was pretty obvious that erasing players wasn't his motive when he decided to become a reaper. I just kinda wish he formed his pact out of nowhere like with Joshua, even if it would go against how it played out in the game. It was pretty obvious that Beat would be Neku's third partner either way - I just think the confusion Neku would feel from being able to use his psychs again would be more entertaining.

Hearing twister play when Beat made his entrance put a smile on my face. It's such a kickass song. One of my favourite moments from the game that I don't really hear anyone talking about is when they used the superior version of the song during the first fight with taboo noise. The song isn't used anywhere else in the game aside from the opening if memory serves me correct, which only makes the moment more special.

I also quite like how the anime diverged from the game in a few areas. I'd never really thought about what happened to 777's crewmates after the second week, so it was sad to see him wearing both of their hoodies around his waist. Granted, reapers don't leave anything behind when they're erased, but in all fairness Rhyme left her pendant so I guess it only happens when it's convenient.

On the subject of Rhyme, her new interactions were quite cute as well. I'd never really thought about what animal she was supposed to be in her noise form, so it was a nice touch to see her behaving like a flying squirrel. That being said, it was a little disappointing that she wasn't squished into a pin by Konishi like she was in the game since that cutscene still makes my skin crawl. They did a good job of making Konishi as provocative and unlikeable as possible in the game whereas in the anime she kinda just stuffs her into her titty and runs off like a pussy.

As for my playthrough, things are pretty rough. I'm on day 5 right now and have been getting completely fucked over by all the noise, which is only partly my fault. Some of the attacks have been complete bullshit, like the one where the jellyfish noise grab you and make half of the health bar disappear into thin air. It's also quite frustrating that Beat takes a second to attack after completing one of his combos, which makes it extremely difficult for me to time the light puck properly. I've kinda just resorted to avoiding battles altogether and only fighting the pig noise and bosses, which is obviously the worst route to take. Maybe I'll stop trying to work with a deck of pins that I haven't mastered and increase the puck speed. I don't know it's really all up in the air for me.

Well, I was so zetta slow with typing this all up... it's been a while since I last tried to type up an Episode Discussion post, and I haven't bothered to re-watch this episode to refresh my memory, so all you're gonna get is a vague summary of the vague notes I took while watching the ep on the day of release... I bet you all can guess why the lateness and this treatment...

✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶ ⋆ ✶

I forget that the game doesn't outright state what Neku's last entry fee exactly is.
Looks the anime is too busy arranging awkward pauses between dialogue again to even bother stating it as well.

Anyway, Konishi's this week's Game Master and Beat's this week's partner. He arrives with some epic skateboarding tricks that impressed the anime enough to have Twister playing... interesting, I'm used to that happening during the climactic part of an anime's last episode, but considering Beat's character has been on a bit of a roller coaster in both the original game and in this anime, I suppose it's justified. What I'm not sure is justified is Beat and Neku already getting to use their Lv2 Fusion attack after like a day, but eh, whatever I guess...
Not sure what the anime means about Beat actually guarding Neku the whole time during Week 2 though, I feel like that's another anime retcon cuz I definitely don't remember that being the case in the game. Pretty sure he only warmed up to him after Neku gave him Rhyme's necklace back when he didn't have to, but whatever I guess, it has been quite some time.
And it's kinda odd that the anime only now shares Beat's real name, but whatever I guess, the anime never wants to bother properly spending any time on most of this game, so I'm not really going to either.

Speaking of Rhyme, I'm a bit surprised that Beat decides to tell Neku that the hamster-like Noise accompanying him is actually Rhyme sooner rather than later like in the game... but I guess it was fairly obvious while playing anyway, so not really that weird of a change.
While we're still on the topic of Rhyme, one change that I did actually find weird is regarding Beat's new entry fee. The Iron Maiden takes Noise Rhyme and squeezes her magically inside her chest? WHAT THE HELL lol?? That's frickin weird, what was so wrong with just crushing her into nothingness like in the game's original cutscene? This change is just straight-up frickin weird..........
I don't remember her explicitly erasing 777 either. Sad and messed up note to end the episode on.

They definitely made it clear with this final game that all stakes are against Neku.

Good to see Beat teaming up with Neku instead of continuing to pretend to be his enemy.

One final week and this isn't quite as simple as the rest. It was cool of Beat to save Neku after he got completely screwed by the game.

I felt bad for Porcupine at the end. He looked so lonely sitting on the stage by himself.
