Compared to the other characters introduced, Tomoe feels a bit off and definitely less confident than the others.

In sharp contrast, we got to see Kazuya Souma's commanding presence as a leader. I can't help but laugh at that octopus scene. He didn't seem grossed out at all lol. I kinda like Tomoe this episode though.

The food show finally started i was wondering how this would turn out but it looks nice so far, i have to say Ashia eating like that was funny, she certainly likes her food.
Anyway the plan to feed the population is just starting but i guess they will have to get used to a lot of different foods.
Well it's not unusual for people the start eating different things when food is sparse it's better to it something rather than nothing.

Out of all the talents that Kazuya have recruited, the wolf girl Tomoe is the most puzzling of them all, and for good reason: she can liaise with animals, even demons (since the pressure comes from the Demon Lord's reigns). This fantasy world is indeed parallel to the modern day world, within the minds of the Average Joe, yet intelligence separates them, the difference between humans and demons.

All information, even in its highest secrecy, is top confidential information, and Tomoe is the link to make-or-break this relationship, so adoption is the only way...except that the young "political marriage" of Kazuya and Liscia, as bizarre as it looks, it's the only way that they can keep Tomoe in check within the castle walls, to fit within as the little sister role.

Poncho's the first to complete his mission of gathering food and resources, and that translates to a food broadcast program, which makes it look like a TV projection in the fantasy world. Kazuya's ramp-up strategy to introduce modern-day food to these people, it shooketh them (especially the octopus scene) in doubt, but tastes can't lie.

HAHA WHAT THE HELL? Kazuya going all salt bae on the burdock roots, such a lost meme resurrected for a moment. Even worse, consuming fried insects a.k.a locusts that also taste good with some seasoned sauces. It's coming off nicely and I hope to see more.

The taste of the motherland, and Kazuya has definitely felt in every soul of his body. Such a good food tasting session...if they can't stop un-seeing all these weird food variations...

The episode really felt like 5 min, Tomoe is an interesting character with her ability she even managed to speak with a demon, good thing that she got adopted by the royal family, and she's cute xD and TV show to learn how to cook against the famine crisis, that's really clever, and it was interesting to watch xD

This could really change how the demon army is handled. If negotiations with them is even a possibility that would open many doors to peace and maybe getting some lands back. Tomoe is a very important person now just as Souma said. Putting her under protection is absolutely important. Tomoe being at the castle will keep the secret of talking to demons and her safe. Definitely an avenue to explore later after Souma figures out how to open talks with the demons. Funny that hes basically doing like public service announcements through that spell broadcasting. Like home shopping networks showing people how to use an item so they'll buy it. Souma showing the citizens of the kingdom how to use unconventional foods during the shortage. Its really smart and can help with public approval. Souma is a man of the people

So Tomoe can talk to demons eh, no wonder Souma was surprised. Things can certainly go in many directions due to her skill.

Rest of the episode was food tasting and lmao that Salt Bae salting was hilarious. Good to see there's miso and soy sauce in this world too.

Prime Minister please Tomoe's just 10 y/o. In the end she became Liscia's adopted little sister because who tf wouldn't want her to be so

Yup Poncho's role went exactly like I'd expected, as a nutritionist@food expat to combat the nation's shortage. Still unsure about Juna, a PR spokeswoman or something on behalf of Kazuya?

Not bad low-key episode with some worldbuilding.

The Tomoe demon thing
, but otherwise provided a decent moment for Kazuya to show off his statesman chops.

The food scene is not nearly Shokugeki enough for my liking. But since they decided to handle the whole talent search situation in a rather low-key manner, i guess that's par for the course. The surprised / disgusted expressions are fun though :D

Tomoe is okay. A bit more proactive than what i'd expect out of a refugee pauper girl in a medieval court, but i'm willing to let it slide. She is obviously from a nontrivial bloodline or something.

You have the winner of the country's first beauty / song /dance pageant right in the moment when said country just had its first cooking TV show. What do you think she is going to be? /wink

Also don't forget her role as an overseer / messenger from a third party.

Thats a nice method to determine what each race within the world is. Though i have to wonder what will a sentient man-eater fall under if there ever was one. Being able to converse with animals is indeed a rare talent. But to be able to communicate with a demon was quite the development. Troublesome is a understatement regarding the potentials for it though. Master of horses is defo better than consort. Its nice that Tomoe was able to receive affection from the Liscia's parents. Juna and Poncho's segment sure was amusing. To think that the king will do a cooking show for his people. Using that as a method to introduce new food to the masses sure was an excellent idea. Im curious as to what the next dish is considering the reactions of the girls. Overall an excellent ep that balanced out lore expansion with plot advancement and comedy in the form of the live broadcast of the tasting of new dishes.

Tomoe's power is going to be very useful. At the moment, the one I like the most of the five

He even knows how to cook, I expected nothing less from the person who started governing the country on the first day c:
This turned into some kind of cooking show 😂

This was just.... an episode. It wasn't exhausting and time did fly by, but like the previous episode, nothing memorable to sink my teeth into. It's like watching a pre-show match on a pay-per-view, or watching exclusive garbage time in an NBA match. Stuff just happens, time just flies, and feelings are just so monotone. Some amount of world building was there with Kazuya bringing out culinary techniques and flavors from his home to the world, but eh.

Is this anime gonna end every episode with cliffhanger?

Anyway, what's differentiate this anime from dozens of other isekai anime is the live streaming aspect, I hope it'll stick with this strong point until the end.

Genuinely felt like just 5 mins had passed.

And that has to be one of the weirdest cliffhangers I have seen. A cliffhanger based on food. Souma would be proud.

But nonetheless, I am really loving every single episode of this. My only concern is that the pacing is really slow, so now I have no idea when they are going to stop.

Same. I know this is not an action anime but still the whole thing has been just a handful of people talking inside a castle. Idk it just feels dull maybe because it's slow paced too. Anyway if it goes like this i will probably stop watching it.

This is actually one of my fave light novels. Unfortunately, the light novel is better than the show. Its just one of those that is challenging to capture it into an anime series. But it has its cute moments.

A bit like Spice and Wolf but I feel Spice and Wolf captured it better, maybe coz there are less recurring characters.

The BGM is not bad though.

In the previous episode, Kazuya casually pulled out his smartphone and in this episode, he casually did a meme pose. It's so bizarre but entertaining nonetheless. The show just don't given a damn. I don't care. I like this show so far. This show proves u don't need clichés of Isekais to be entertaining. It's fun and relaxing to watch, tbh.

That was a really cool livestream broadcast in the entire kingdom featuring the King's cooking. xD I love the reactions of the taste-testers when they saw the octopus and the deep-fried locusts for the first time. Then the King cried tears of happiness after discovering that miso and soy sauce also exist in this world but under different names.

Although I'm curious about the next food item that shocked the taste-testers even more. What could it be? Darn cliffhanger!

lol it was also my reaction

It is a bit funny how in this episode they were "throwing " sugar. Because it wasn't until the 19th century that sugar ceased to be a luxury and earlier? ... slaves were used because it was a costly process. xD

For sure this is approaching "don't think about it too much" it simply makes me laugh that Not-Yet King suggests using a technically luxurious ingredient when his subjects face hunger.
Something like, "'If they have no bread, let them eat cake!"*

*I write right now that I know about propaganda nature of this quote.

The only bad thing about them doing this series (sort of) realistically is that the images from the light novels won't get the love they deserve. I've had the below image on my computer for ages just because it's too cute to delete.

This episode is cringey to the core...a country with food shortage but fishermen throw octopus back to ocean...hello...wtf? Bug as dish to make up for food shortage makes more sense, but again...why the taste, the tears?!
Then episode ended with a mysteriously surprising dish...omg...

ALSO! Tomoe's cloth is dirty! Would be nice to add stinks and lead to bath scene with Liscia :)

What a great episode that this was! Really loving this anime.
So that girl can speak to everyone basically damn, do wonder how all of this will end up later.

The whole cooking part was so good, glad that he shows literally to the people how to cook the food instead of just saying it.

The only problem for me with this anime is that 24min doesn't really seem like that much, it's almost like the eps is just 10min, either that or they take a lot to do anything xD Anyways, hyped for the next episode.

Also this, what a goat!

On top of that octopus was covered with bread crumbs and deep-fried in large amount of oil because starving population has excess of those.

And locusts receipt required some unknown to kingdom condiment from mystic wolves with zero explanation how to prepare it. Apparently, starving population supposed to experiment with fermenting beans until they get taste of insects just right.

The idea was to keep people from starving, this ridiculous cooking show requires access to Japanese supermarket. Only burdock roots were somewhat useful, just add sugar and salt.

It is much easier to use receipts in LN that in anime but if they wanted to have a live cooking show it should at least be somewhat plausible.

Well, more info dump like previously. This time its about their relations with the demon. This world even considered to divide every living beings into a three separate parts, while demon categorized differently as the monsters. Because of their intelligence and how they couldn't be understand with their language well enough by the mankind. Tomoe gifted with such a talent to be able to speak to those who can't be approached, the demon races. Interesting. But the cliffhanger still sucks, ngl...

That old prime minister actually gave such a great advice, to made Tomoe as Souma's second consort at first. I can't help but laugh my ass so hard with that part, especially with how Liscia and Souma react the later on. Too bad, the decision of them were adopting Tomoe as Liscia little sister, which is indeed a safe play for them all, and for the writer for sure. Well....

Cooking show and their taste-testers scenes on the fantasy world? Never heard of that before. Souma for sure used every knowledge he got from his previous world. Okay ... That fried octopus dishes actually a fine thing, moreover with that fried root snack one, whatever that was. But the locust with soy sauces seasoning actually a bit ehh for me, and the wolves used to like that much? Truly interesting, and very well usage of that glutton dude as a gourmet expert.

However, its still not over. By using the same fuckin cliffhanger pattern like they did before, they end this episode with style. Ugh, fine, lets see next!
