----------------------------------------
Well overall I definitely enjoyed this series. At times peaceful, other times a little moody, but all in all good. I'll probably write some xxxHolic comparison up because I felt this was very similar, sans romantic-comedy. Even this the last episode seemed eerily similar.

Speaking of which, Ginko didn't seem like a happy kid. Oh well...

This didn't feel like a last episode at all, I hope there's a new season coming, in the near future.
Overall, I really liked this anime, but not as much as I thought at first. Gets a 9/10.

Well I enjoyed it and it is definitely a great watch...but somehow the slow pacing made it kinda hard to approach for me so I watched 1-2 Episodes here and 1-2 there...took me a while to finish it, but it's really great, 9/10.

Well if I was to literally translate it, it would mean "Silver child" but because it is written in katakana (ギンコ) it has no relative meaning whatsoever. ^_^

I hope there would be a new season. I don't care if it will be like this, in episodic format. It's truly a worth to watch. Come on, and we need some Ginko developments! That last episode is just some kind of ordinary episode with the past of Ginko. We need to know what happened to them and also to Nui? LOL! And that Ink girl, the one who has black legs. I hope Ginko can be with her. LOL!

I need 2nd season! ^__^

honestly, the last episode didn't seem all that relative to the series. Maybe I missed someting but I think that the ending episode should of been different. It seemed so pointless. Maybe I was so distracted by the thought of it being the last episode to the series. I almost cried thinking about it. T_T

Yeah, I was kinda disappointed that it didn't have more Ginko, but I still enjoyed it as much as the rest of the series. The whole show was really good. Although it was hard to watch 3 episodes in one sitting like we were doing in our club.

like you all said, it didn't feel like a last episode, and nothing really monumental happened in the story either. This series started out really good, but about halfway through the stories didn't seem to captivate me as much, so instead of a 9/10, its getting an 8/10 from me.

Maybe because it's a slice of life kind of anime, that's why it has an open ending, like "life goes on" or something like that
I'm satisfied with the ending, since i watched many anime with this kind of ending

Although i'd really love to see more of the story between ginko and the one, that women who has ability related to ink?(i forgot), she's cool

It has an open ending simply because the manga is not done yet, the anime ends in the middle of the manga. They didn't just tack an ending on for the sake of closure, I like that.

LOvE the whole series.... Somehow I really liked the last episode, especially the setting of this one particular episode.

And just what most everybody want, I need second or maybe lots more seasons. I hope they would continue to animate the manga.

Overall 10/10 for me, not just for it's undeniable awesome animation but the also for it's memorable episodes and fascinating Mushi concept.

Oh, i see, haven't read the manga yet
I didn't see any main plot in the anime, that's why i think open ending is normal for this show

This last episode didn't really have any impact or anything. It's terrible because it makes me feel like it hasn't ended. I need moooorree.

I agree with you. I was partially expecting a grand finale but then that would've been out of context and wouldn't have flowed so cohesively with the series.

I'm kind of glad that they didn't get so much into Ginko's past. Although I wanted to know more about him, his character has been set up to be filled of mystery and unanswered questions. His earliest memory is of when he was 10, so we wouldn't have learned much about him. (awww)

Overall, I loved the anime. Great stories, interesting and sometimes humorous character, and interesting concept. =)

What a brilliant episode to end the series on. I like that it didn't have a climax, it just ended. What an absolutely fantastic series Mushishi was. The only real masterpiece in anime, in my opinion. So imaginative and beautiful. My favourite episode was probably 7, the rainbow one. My least favourites were probably 14 and 21. It's not a series you could watch many times, or even just a few times, but it's definitely a series everyone should watch at least once. Truly fantastic.

Ironic how the last episode had the least amount of Ginko.

I think it was a perfect last episode. In the end, the mountain had changed, giving a sense that everything changes eventually. That's the nature of life and time. It kinda gives you the feeling that, though Ginko was a good Mushishi, there will be more after him and there will still be more Mushi to be discovered.

The world might not look the same, but they'll still be there. Just like the catfish. ;)

10/10 definitely.

I'm surprised no one brought up the scene where Ginko speaks to himself reminiscing his previous stay at the area. The very last scene captures his a brief discourse with a catfish (?) koi (?) and the episode ends with him calling the fish, his "ex-master/ex-guardian." It appears to be the similar fish that emerged in the episode with Nui. Does anyone remember this? I'm bothered by this scene and would like to know your thoughts on it.

Oh, the fish appears to be a central theme/symbol throughout the show.

Every once in a while, through all the drab and quotidian shows that Japan pumps out for the mindless children, a gem is spotted. This show would fall into that category as it contains within it basic elements of creativity that all shows should have (not the overplayed, stereotypical, storyline and themes that are normally used in anime)

Mushi-shi is a real masterpiece, it combines the child-like aspect of imagination and beauty and, attempts to explain natural (or supernatural) occurrences in an almost primalistic kind of way. Watch any episode and you will clearly be able to see this.

All in all, I enjoyed this show and, I rank it very high. I suggest that anyone in need of a change from the norm watch it.

I'm not sure how I feel about the last episode. On the one hand, I wanted some sort of closure or goal for Ginko, and on the other hand, I realize that it's the nature of this show to be about the Mushi and how each interact with people.

Really an enjoyable series and one that I'll remember for long while.

well we have to keep in mind that the story isn't done yet. I think there are 2 or 3 volumes of Mushishi manga which haven't been adapted in the anime...so we might get a season 2 *crosses fingers* Though I doubt they'd be goal based cuz I think mushishi is a more episodic series (not sure, haven' read the manga)
