I have heard mediocre things about the anime, and I was wondering if I should just not watch it and read the manga instead.

Why not both? People are being too critical of the animation choices that were made. This is a series with a ton of shorts within one episode. There isn't any huge budget to fully animated, though that may be by choice, a stylistic decision. So it doesn't feel like corners are being cut, really... I think the western audience may care too much about what they think an anime should look like. So far it's very good at conveying what it needs to, and it is as equally humorous as it would be even if it was given more fluidity. I personally do not like it less due to the way it's animated. The voice acting adds to the humour, so it's good it has an anime adaptation at all.

I liked the anime, sure the "animation" is more like a dia show but it fits quite well with the comedy and didnt bothered me at all

I dont know the Manga though

Read the manga first. Then watch the anime since it's pretty short. The manga is superior in every single way except for voice acting. Contrary to popular opinion I think the anime is ok, some of the stuff I would say is actually funnier with the voice acting (like the birthday scene in the first ep).

But yeah final consensus Manga>Anime by FAR.

Definitely read the manga, it's got single page gags that are quite funny. The ONA is alright although wish it wasn't stop motion.

Don't worry the anime is just a slide show of colored manga panels so you can just read the anime.

Just kidding read the manga, if you enjoy it enough then give the anime a try, even with the motion manga style I'm actually enjoying it.

I was initially put off by the style of the show but I got over it by the seconds episode. This show was genuinely hilarious to me so I stopped noticing (with the exception of roughly two scenes) and just enjoyed the heck out of it. I think that you can't go wrong either way.

I'd definitively suggest reading the manga first and only then watch the anime if you feel like it. After watching the first episode, I find the animation a little unusual and I was expecting more. In contrast, I'd recommand watching the drama, which is good in its own way because it took risks, creating new characters and some new plots.

The entire series is 1.5 hours long. If you can get past the bizarre animation decisions, it's hilarious. The voice acting is amazing, and outside of a few gags that probably would have worked better with cleaner animation, the VA's alone make it worth watching.

I can't say not to watch it. I reviewed it badly, because I want my anime to be, you know, animated, but it's pretty alright for what it is, and what it is is a voice-acted slideshow version of the manga. The voice acting is pretty good, so there's some fun to be had, but I'll be sticking with the manga.

Given that the anime is a shot for shot remake of the manga from what I understand (I unfortunately had to wash my eyes with bleach 4 episodes into the first episode) you could try reading the manga with the anime on in the background and have the same experience but with better visuals.

honestly people are talking alot of smack ab the anime adaptation but i actually found it funny, i think they purposely made the anime really short and animated differently because i think the creators wanted it to be more of like a funny easy watch yk. it’s literally 5 eps with a bunch of little skits combined into eps and yall are so quick to judge. i say read the manga and watch the anime!

Why not both?First watch the anime then read the manga. It's only 5 episodes 16 minutes each. The anime is actually pretty funny at least according to my humour.

Read the manga with the audio from the anime playing in the background for the voices.

Watched the anime first, manga readers are just pretentious. I honestly believe this is better than the manga, it could obviously be more transformative and better but checked the first couple chapters out of curiosity and I felt I didn’t miss out on anything.

It was a bold direction to take but I’m all for different looking anime, if this was another cookie cutter production it’d probably be less memorable to me anyways.

It's a motion manga you fucking dolt, it's not supposed to be made like an Anime. That's like biting into an orange and getting mad it doesn't taste like an apple.

Seriously it's not even that bad.If you ignore the slideshow the comedy is actually very good.
