THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
This is it... Very harsh episode in the beginning, seeing all these gelified people suffer made me feel bad, Innumael went completely crazy too, the fight scene looked pretty weak still, the animation wasnt really good.
The sight of Sissel made him come back to reason at least.
He looks like my colleague who collapsed after the party office
No real conclusion, feels like the whole anime was just an add for the game, I hate this kind of thing, this is very unprofessional. I want to see what happens to the baby Rosemary.

The Empire Strikes Back: Naoto Hosoda-edition.

The traitor Jade's foul call towards Schaake learning the truth from her dad. Even if he's eradicated, it would've been too late for the Light's Luminance to save any unharmed human, much less the summoned Luminosis monsters rampaging in the Empire.

Radboud's experiment is now proven fatal, at least for Innumael whose Luminosis disease has fully sapped the human out of him. Coming face-to-face with Leo, and the result is the same. Pretty decent action, and a book on his findings of Luminosis as an exchange to his dying will and his family pendant picture (of which Leo has been wearing for quite sometime).

The Empire sealed off by the Cradle and shrouded in darkness, and the start of a new beginning of Light a.k.a the mobile game.

Pretty hidden find of a show that's absolutely engrossing.

As an anime show, this one is as awful as "Shironeko Project Zero Chronicle". From these shows, we've got a conclusion:
"A show that is a prequel of a video game = trash"

Even after all the things that our cast has done and tried, the Empire is just a step ahead of them. As the "Light of Calamity" has been unleashed and wreaked havoc throughout the world. It seems like the Old Capital is now quarantined by the BLACK BARRIER and all of its citizens routed through neighboring domains (oh AoT?).

Atleast almost all of our cast is still alive. Even Innumael and Ben, which I thought would've been dead. Well atleast they found the baby that is the true successor of the throne, an important meeting. And it seems like all of this was just a prequel (ehem advertisement) to the game, which is its original source. Well this ain't getting a second season at all, and you know what it's alright.

Somehow and in someway, I actually got to watch this weekly...I DO NOT KNOW WHY I ACTUALLY DID THAT. But eh it got me atleast invested to its "mystery". And just like Mahouka: Visitor Arc, I watched it to waste some bit of time. MWZ had a nice plot overall but it was weak on execution. Yokohama AniLab did badly on the visuals department, considering that it's last work was LAPIS RE:LIGHTS! And the characters were...I guess fine. So my score for this is a STRONG 6/10, it was alright and that's it.

Now this is how a game adaptation is supposed to be! Sadly some budget constraints resultet in a few lackluster action scenes but all in all a worthwhile watch.
They could easily make another prequel season about the 20 years in between the ending and the start of the game but I don't think that'll happen. As someone who doesn't play the game I hope someone else will do a summary of sorts so we know what happened to the characters.

From what I understand the game takes place well into the future. Does it fill us in about the events between the end of the show and the start of the game? That ending makes me want another season.

So it pretty much reached the BAD ENDING of the game?

There's no explanation on why Inu-guy was able to go back to his human form while retaining his mutant side in the aftercredits. It's just a nonsensical blurt from the labcoat that he's "special" (AKA plot armor) and we get evil hag from the Diet almost blurting out "keikakudori" as the last scene before the ED credits.

Meh, I'll give it a 6.5/10 just because it had an interesting story that just didn't know how to end it properly.

I'm sad this stopped there, at the start of a new conflict, basically when a new arc would start, I really hope there to be a next season, idk if this is explained in the game cus the game has Leocardio well above his 40's (at least it looks like it) and the event of a light beam coming from the sky happen way more often in that future, alongside the guard being the ones who have managed to awaken like Leocardio and Inumael did in this final episode.

8/10

Great show, its a way of showing that even if the budget is low it could still make something worth watching, like ID Invaded did back when it came out, idk how much budget is put into animations depending on the studios cus that isn't something of public knowladge, but its nice that even if your studio isn't madhouse or trigger, or whatever great things still can be made out of it, at the end of the day, anime is a budget way of telling stories from its core. (damn this sounds really pretentious and doesn't really have to do with this show so much lol, and this isn't really a review either :I)

7/10. Was 8/10 the most of the time ... though the last episode is a bit bad. At least as long as there is no sequel confirmed.

Previous episode I already thought this was only showing stuff in the future ... to get people to play the game. Did not expect the catastrophe would happen that soon. Seems it was real though - and they didn't do a bad job with the events after that in this last episode.

Just that the end is pretty open ... and I would love to see some more of them trapped in the capital. (Closed off and without government.) Could be interesting if - in a sequel - it took a few episodes until they got out there of the capital. Plot should still have lots of stuff for lots of more episodes. (Mary Bult in the new capital. And that baby - the daughter of the empire. I guess something new to deliver for the deliveryman Immanuel lol. :D)

Honestly, the ending exceeded all my expectations for the series. It was the perfect blend of vagueness and also conclusiveness that I enjoyed with it being the end of the prequel arc of the series.

Inu surprisingly surviving was quite nice for me and his fight with Leo was actually quite well animated for the most part, the battle that we thought we were gonna see, but under very different circumstances. Not gonna lie, when Inu apologised to Leo, I thought that was really sad. Kind of reminded me of the end of Spiderman 3. Damn.

The story ultimately was a story of brave people who were sucked into a political and supernatural struggle which they were unaware of. By the time they did, it was a little too late and they couldn't have prevented anything but to save themselves and the people around them. At the end, Headkeepers were just a puppet organization and now, the remaining members must pick themselves up and think of what to do.

It was ultimately the prophecy that became true, and I'm guessing the prophecy was Radboud and the anti-Imperialists basically attacking the Empire, unfortunately the Royals pretty much knew and moved to the brand new capital of Wahrheit.

This sets up the series for a S2 that may never come but it's 20 years before the game so it's interesting to see if we have another season to bridge that 20 years.

In a season and year full of moe and isekai series, Naoto Hosoda decided to make a dark fantasy series that was equally compelling as it had animation flaws, but I can't overlook how gripped I was throughout the season. Solid 9/10 for me, I'll remember this dark horse for a while.

Okay, so its really a prologue to the in-game story, then. Such a shame, its just ended up like that, i am already attached to the storyline of these series. Well, not gonna complain at all. Its like a basic of introduction for a several characters and world-building. Even though the end of a certain character fate, looks like, unexplained. I mean, how Inu still alive? What happened to Radboud? What happened to Schaake? And such. But, whatever, its just fine, and nothing else i can say about that.

So, if you already attached, better to just stick off to the game, and played it all out. While for me, its just enough, and can't make it through the game after that. Its not like i dislike it. I just don't have much time to slack myself into the game.

Overall: its 7/10 for the sake of its massive interesting basic storyline. Thats it all from me.

Why do people keep talking about adaptation when this is a prequel?
The game is located around 20-30 years in the future to these events, all the people were in contact with the light saw their mutated genes, some transforming into beasts and others gaining superpowers.

The same game still does not answer some doubts about the events here and the protagonist is one of the experiments to create soldiers with new light-resistant genes.

Who died? If you mean Radboud, he still alive, he even give the viewer info that Leocadio is "Awakened", you need more focus when watching this show, what is Awakened? And why Inummael back to human form, Watched ep 11 again the info already explained.

y'know that Leo v Enumael fight is probably what the Garo fight would've been like if it had worse animation :P

But tbh, this final ep did a lot of things that I wish were done much earlier in the series. Inumael going batshit crazy, Leo finally acting like he was actually impacted by the death of this bro for a change etc. Definitely overall I do wish that this series made tense situations seem more tense by the characters actions, like even in this ep when Leo seemingly is meant to be panicked when searching for everyone he's just casually taking a stroll lmao

Overall, it is a pretty nice series for the most part. Plot was kinda confusing at times, bu I assume a lot of the overall story is better explained in the actual game. Character wise, I was actually surprised I ended up loving Enumael way more than Leo, considering I felt the opposite at the very beginning. Leo for the most part, his story was pretty poor. Inumael was pretty decent though

Season 2 DLC: $4.99/10

As an anime, this really deserves another season.. I like the story, i like the animation (can't even understand many people complaining about it, for me its just about a different style to each person's preference, for me personally I like this kind of old westernish cartoon style), i liked the characters although they wasn't that strong..
I love the mystery of the story, the kind that makes you think..
It is not the best anime, but it surely developed my curiosity each episode

Congrats to the producer, you successfully make me curious to play the game (this is just how a game ad anime should be, think it was one of the best so far)

Still so many things unanswered...
What I don't get is didn't emperor's wife give birth in the new capital? Why was it with the maid?

So that Diet member's wish was to create a capital with weird creatures roaming around...what's the point...?

The way Radboud reacted after seeing Inumael's transformation, is it the final piece they wanted to create? I'm glad Inumael's not dead good thing Ben found him. And now Inumael be looking like Kaneki ◐.̃◐

All those creatures walking like that reminded me of The Rumbling.

I hope it gets a second season soon like Fairy Gone.

Overall 7/10.

You can just imagine that Garo would've been produced by Yokohama lab with low budget and Mappa produced MWZ, how it will look alike :p

I was surprise that we got this kind of Inu v Leo fight, i think its just kind of simple action like the rooftop's PV because this series has less action. Inu v Leo fight in ep 12 remind me of Hataraku Maou Sama,no wonder because key animation & storyboard was done by Naoto Hosoda himself. You're not into MWZ's oldfashion art style, and character design & no vivid color in this series probably made you think it had worse animation. Not as flashy as Hataraku Maou sama but MWZ had potential.

I think that was very good overall for a game prequel series. It definitely weakened toward the end when they had to suddenly get to the actual setup for the game, but overall it was exciting with a touch of real horror and consequence. This is way too flawed to be anyone's favorite and this may just be the low expectations talking, but I enjoyed that more than a lot of shows.

I liked MWZ, animation quality sometimes dropped to Gibiate level but everything else was on consistent good level especially for studio that just recently started with regular series.

I would hope for second season but everything is now in hands of KLab who will decide if anime is good advertisement for their game.

Apocalypse of gruesome fused people still breathing man. We finally see the Cradle sealing in action pretty epic.
Leo vs Inu fight finally got better animation than the usual wonky stuff. So confirmed Rose Marie is the queen's infant.
Magatsu & 100-man had the most interesting stories and both happen to be dark horses with budget wonky animation. Tho Magatsu's backgrounds are top tier gorgeous.

Ep10 & 11 kinda fast, but still made sense as most parts connect up to the apocalypse. Really dig the world building, politics, dual mc's/factions, and a rare show that get a consistent thriller vibe.

This anime was a solid 6 or 7. There was quite a lot of build up and story left to go. I kinda doubt there'll be another season though. The story was kinda here and there but there was some build up for potential. Seems like a bitter sweet ending with things going to shit but most of the cast surviving. I think more should have died in the cast. It was a pretty decent anime kinda hindered by the animation and limited time to tell the story in 12 episodes

What started out with a similar atmosphere to ACCA ultimately ended up in a vastly different place.

While I'm not certain I can unambiguously label the series as 'good' in the end, it gets major credit for not leaning on generic good vs. evil morality conventions... particularly since it turned out to be based on a(n apparently plotless) smartphone game of all things.

Shame that it'll likely end up as an orphaned prologue.
