Shinigami Claudia :o

A very lighthearted episode with the characters hanging out, getting to know each other, etc. Seems the pacing slowed down a bit but I guess I'm okay with that. They still have time to flesh out the characters. Everyone seems pretty friendly to Claudia and I think she's lucky to have these friends.

I just love when funimation uploads the episode and the file is corrupted so it doesn’t play. Second week in a row Sigururi hasn’t worked at launch.

Ok episode is finally working. I was feeling on edge throughout the entire episode because I felt like there were a lot of death flags for Miyako. Especially with her saying she’d always been with Azu and Odin saying he hoped Claudia wouldn’t kill her friends again. Luckily, we got a pretty light hearted episode and continue to see the girls getting closer. Hopefully it stays that way.

Such a heavy burden for Miyako to carry to have to see off the dead :/

Miyako is a strong person with a cheerful character which is why I like her. The second half of the episode with the soldier was sad. :(

We got to see Odin interact with Claudia. I wonder what his plans are.

Miyako's midnight cleaning huh. Guess it is the best tome to do it if you can't sleep. I guess being a god can be pretty boring judging by the amount of entertainment that he has near him. Miyako though was surprisingly good at cooking and housework. Anzu really isn't a morning person it seems. But their breakfast sure was lively. Funny how the accessment turned into a field trip. But its nice to see the girls have some fun though. Miyako being sent to the base due to being a troublemaker was kinda expected. But Anzu being old friends with her in addition to being sent together was a surprise. The sending though sure was dark. But being with someone thats on the point of death and comforting them to the last is just like her. The scene where they comforted the injured and awaited his death together sure was beautiful with Claudia's song adding a haunting quality to it. Overall an interesting ep that was both fun but also emotionally heavy as well on account of the loss that the base suffered in the attack. Its nice that we got to see a bit more of Miyako as a person though.

Miyako is the best girl. If nothing, this episode made me love her even more. She's strong, kind, straightforward and optimistic. Such a delight.

It was fun watching the girls go around shopping and stuff.

Second half took a lot more sadder tone with their comrade on his deathbed, Claudia's song was quite touching.

Miyako's smiling face at the end makes everything worth it. :)

Damn, that opening surely was something. Just foreshadows that her party is for sure gonna be in danger later on, and it's gonna have a massive effect on her mind. It's prob why the early eps are more calm, or more showing her, that 'hey, maybe you're not the grim reaper after all.' Then later on hit her and us with something that'll really ruffle the feathers.

Good ep.

Still not a fan of the show whatsoever and the story feels aimless but the more lighthearted tone of the first half where it focused on interactions felt better than last week for me.

Damn Claudia with her soothing voice.

The first half of this episode was a lot of sunshine, fun and happiness and then the second half was dark and gloomy, very sad at that. It was nice to see a change in scenery from the battlefield. Miyako seems to always be the centre of attention you can't miss. On a side note, I don't know where the story is going so not a huge fan of this show.........yet.

Good episode :)

That soldier’s death was sad.

We saw how strong Miyuki actually is. Even though the death of that soldier hurt her so much, she kept being cheerful and brought smile to everyone’s face.

Pretty lighthearted episode with a bit of fun for the girls, eventho they were out on a mission.

That hospital scene was something else though, to think Miyako can do this and keep smiling like she does. That smile should be protected at all costs!!

Damn yo, Miko best girl.

This is getting better with each episode. Again fun character moments and interactions. I also liked the sorrowful send-off, emotionwise it worked better with all the build up and mild foreshadowing.

No battle this week which is nice considering the last 3 (or 4 considering the premiere length) episodes were pretty intense. But the anime is still nothing special

Besides battle in ep1&2,we can see sincere emotions in this episode.Miyako is strong and caring.

However,it’s kind of doubtful if a 12-episode capacity can make this story clear because this episode appears not to have an effect on the main plot. Most questions I have from the first episode haven’t been solved yet……(Maybe I need more patience?)

I appreciate that they actually went for some emotion after appearing to be a run-of-the-mill action-fluff series. I still believe that the characters are solid, but not strong enough to support the anime without an interesting plot. This episode provided me with enough hope to stay around for the next episode. We’ll see if I drop it after that.

Wow! I did not expected that.. that I would cry in this episode. :(
Was the only one who cried at that part? the part when Miyako visited the dying soldier and Claudia singing a song.. and when he said, "Kanae" with tears flowing from his blindfolded eyes.

Miyako's character is very cringy to watch though but the last part of this episode made me like her, but I'm still not a fan of her. I really appreciate her effort for that dying soldier.
Also, her voice doesn't suit her image/character at all.. her hair or outfit. I can't tell. I'm not used watching a bubbly characters that has black hair/ponytail.

Man I really loved that episode, The first half was so great and fun but I can't help but feel anxious that something bad will eventually happen to these girls :((. It's great to see Claudia opening up to them, it's good for the heart.

What's not good for the heart is the second half. Damn, the way they made that soldier's death so emotional is so good I did not expect to get the feels from that but I did that was really great.

Shame that this anime was overshadowed by all the other shows this season because it's really good so far.

Oh, well. These episode gave me a mixed feeling about what happened in a war zone against the pillar. I don't expected these episode much. When they were started to explain everything about how they rebuilt the affected locations after the sudden arrival of Pillar from the previous episode. Then, that last end scene, featuring a dying soldier on his last attempt before leaving forever. Its kinda solidified their folkstale, and their status, as a Valkyrie, and specifically to Claudia as a Shinigami. Oh, well, such a bad situations for them, and they couldn't avoided that. The feeling that enveloped the girls were overwhelmed honestly. But surely its affect much to the overall story details that gave me a complete different reaction from any elements, which never expected to me before.

Like Odin said, be strong girl, especially Claudia. Because you all never knew when Pillar came again as their last ultimate attack. Stay focused, and, enjoyed your daily life, as happened to Miko-chan. Yep, she was become Claudia motivation now, and its good to knowing that. Also, the trio men soldier with the bald man as their center, never missed its chance to give me a little chill. Before its get down pretty quick xD.

For a show that will have 12 episodes, this journey has been boring to death. Slow paced and, the icing on the cake on this episode, was that death at the end of the episode. How the hell are we supposed to feel about a random character we don't care about just because in the norse mythology, valkyries are "the choosers of the slain".
Dropped.

A slower episode, but a rather nice one. We see the main cast relaxing and having a good time. But things get a bit sadder by the end of the episode and we see that the Valkyries have more pressure on them than the happy atmosphere makes it appear.
I still wonder what Odin's intentions are. Does he really want to help humanity or is he just kicking back and watching this Pillar War unfold?

This episode wasn't bad by any means, but there was little more to it than just cute girls doing cute things. Yes, that last part with Claudia and Miyako spending some time with a dying soldier gives the series a little bit of pathos and I'm waiting to see the full extent of Odin's interest in Claudia, but other than that, it was an okay episode. The action element was non-existent in this episode and I guess the show needed to focus on the character development, and that's perfectly fine, but it could have been done so much better. I'm still waiting for this show to kick into high gear. I still want this show to be good and I can't wait to see what happens next.

I still don't get the point of this show. I mean, cute girls doing cute things is fine and all, but these girls aren't even endearing or interesting in the slightest - they're the cliche of cliche. Plus the dialogue is cringy and the random emotional scenes felt contrived as hell.

This story will end in a bloodbath. It is no accident that Odin repeatedly talks about ragnarok. Let's enjoy this lighthearted and fun CGDCT while we can.

The symbolism in this episode was very good. The three girls enjoying the town that they saved, seeing everyone happy, healthy, and just enjoying their lives. Then all of them including us the viewers realizing that there is a cost to these Girls fighting. Norman Humans are losing their lives, even for Recon missions. It sucks but this episode really hit for me.

Claudia's song was beautiful. And the balance of comedy and seriousness was very well done.

I think this anime deserves more credit.

Odin's business with Claudia...there is more than meets the eye, but in time to come...for Ragnarok?

I have to lower my expectations for now, because it's mainly still CGDCT-ish and light-hearted with some serious moments. Claudia is still getting used to Japan, so that's that.

Doing disaster recovery assessment with some light-hearted moments, I can give it that if it means the suffering way down the line, and the pacing for now can be slowed down while it still can. The talk between Miyako and the heavily injured recon soldier on the brink of death kinda hurts the heart though, even with Claudia's song.

Not sure if I've placed too much confidence in the hour-long Episode 1, but it's slowly waning away the same confidence.

MIKO IS PRECIOUS!! PROTECT HER AT ALL COSTS!!

This episode had some lighthearted moments with their little tour around the place they saved, being able to get to know each other a little more. This episode showed some real aspects on what battle can bring: loss. Clo's song made me tear up, not at the fact it was a beautiful song, but probably because of that aspect of loss. Great episode overall!

My biggest question is, why are they using WWII era aircraft? Is it ever explained in the manga? If they were just gonna use magic weapons anyway, why couldn't those of been equipped on newer jets?

Nice episode 3, in which we can feel not only the joy in people after the war but also the sorrow of comforting their dying comrade.

So it can be seen that the status of Walküres is so high that all people respect them as their faith. One die with Walküres around him, become a hero, and then one day meet important people in a new place. 😭
