| The first episode was okay. I felt that this is going to be a breeze and will be tempting to get more drama from this. Leo the ninja was ok, he is annoying for disturbing Shotaro every time he speaks to his daughter. Though that last second decision to cancel his retirement was actually amazing. At this point i'm getting Kakushigoto vibes. |

| What I can say about the MC... He's too easygoing and absent minded. I was surprised to see him saying it was the ninja's fault for not giving him the oportunity to talk to his own daughter about his career and injury XD I mean, really? It was clear it was the MC fault for ignoring his own injury >.> So he will not retire in the end?? ... I fear for his future, but I'm hopping he'll not force himself and push to his limit or it can get worse :( Let's hope not. Even so, I liked the progress for this first episode and will give this a shot ^^ |

| This has a similar start like Yuri on Ice but they are DEFFINETLY NOT THE SAME NO NO NO NO NO. My mans over here doesn't want to retire, whereas Yuri gladly says bye to the world of competition also, why are you all hating on the bird??? that was the best part of this show lmao. I see a bird, a child cooking and being all responsible af and a parent and I think, "omg Toradora vibes yeessss." Then this child goes up to the bird who is actually HUGE and I'm like, "okay nvm." I FREAKING LOVE THIS ALREADY BAHAHA THIS WAS HILARIOUS, NEXT EPISODE PLEASE!!! |

| This episode was not what I expected from this show when I first heard of it and saw the trailer. It felt really odd to me for the most part. |
I expected a more sportsy thing, and this turns out to be a bit more of a daddy-daughter drama thing. There are a couple bits on gymnastics, but they definitely weren't the focus. Then again, the OP at the end of the episode went 150% boy band sequence, and they have some kind of dinosaur bird for a pet, so it kind of feels like they're taking the kitchen sink approach. Also, I should probably mention that the over-animated gymnastics sequence towards the end of the episode ended with the goofy ninja dude's clothing exploding off of him, revealing his glistening, sweaty abs. I'll equivocate here because I was mostly bored, but I don't feel particularly strongly about much of anything here. I guess maybe it's trying a little too hard to be wacky with the bird and the manic pixie boyfriend ninja, but neither are that obnoxious, particularly compared to the shrieking tantrums of that other show earlier. It's not a particularly compelling drama either though. Dude is a struggling gymnast. Dude has a daughter. Uhhhh, and here's a ninja who also is sort of gymnasty. They meet and team up. It's not exactly Hamlet. |

| I think this series has a potential to be good. Though based on this first episode it can go to many different directions in terms of plot and quality. I actually thought that Joutarou would retire but to not to make her daughter sad he'd take on a ninja job. Or, if that wouldn't happen, he would retire and continue as a coach for the ninja guy who becomes a gymnast. That's similar to the Yuri on Ice!! plot though. If the show stays mediocre but would provide opportunities for yaoi shipping between Joutarou and ninja guy, that would raise my scoring perhaps! ^^ Obaachan is a sexy lady. Daughter is cute, though her voice is high-pitched that can be disturbing when she talks as fast as in the train scene. As for the bird, I find him funny, some mascot chara is needed I guess. I hope the next episode will be good~ |

| YESSSS; finally a new this type of slightly bizarre, but still serious anime. I'm also an athlete and it won't be long until I retire too, so this also kinda hits home. But honestly I'm 100% in on this adventure. 10/10 from me for ep 1. |

| this was actually surprisingly enjoyable. I had watched the PV before but it didn't quite prepare me for this 1st episode. Anyway, seems like it will be a decent ride, I'll keep watching |

| So Joutarou isn't going to retire then? I could have sworn this series would be about him becoming a coach for the ninja dude but now, who knows. That might still be the case later on tho. Overall, less serious than expected but more lighthearted instead. Already loving the bond between Joutarou and his daughter. Their dynamic feels so real and dear lord, Rei is such a cutie >.< The series also does a good job at handling both serious and silly moments so I'm glad that it seems we won't have any jarring transition from one to another and the like. Particularly, the last scene when Joutarou hesitated about retiring and the sequence of baby Rei appeared... man, that really moved me for some reason. This said, quite solid start. Just hope the "huge south american bird that lives with us" gag doesn't become too prevalent in the comedy aspect. |

| MAPPA with another great original work. Indeed they rarely fail with original stuff (while for adaptions sadly they often adapt boring things). I liked most of the stuff. Setting is a bit unusual - even for sports. (Gymnastics is less common.) The voice actor of the main ... I needed a bit time to get used to it. (Recognized him from some other anime.) I thought for the gymnast adult guy a more manly voice would have been better at first. Ninja ... well ... it is a bit weird. I hope we get to see some backgrounds for the Ninja guy and for the mother/wife. (Clearly the grandmother was the mother of the mother. Same hair color.) The main should just become a coach for other athletes - with the Ninja guy following him. The bird was the only annoying thing. Didn't fit there. Together with Akudama Drive one of the more promising anime this season. |

| Off to a really cool and good start. The characters are all quite amusing and I like the setting too. Jotaro's daughter is really adorable. Sad to see his wife has died. |

| It took me a while before it all sink well. At first I thought its a serious sports anime and then I see a father daughter tandem...nice touch. The struggle of a parent and a battle decision between retiring and moving on. I would love to see another episode of this series. I had fun watching it. |

Jotaro Aragaki, the gymnast that once could, and now couldn't and on the rocks for retirement. WTF is that bigbird??? I can understand a single parent's struggles with having to cope for a child's development and growth, but the whole ninja plot device thing just felt so strange. The use of CGI already has me worried for the most nonsensical of measures to showcase decent production values. Will stick by for tips and dips at best. |

Thanks for letting me know your impression of the episode. I, on the other hand, found it to be fairly entertaining despite the randomness. Definitely not treating it like Koi to Producer, are the wonderful folks over at MAPPA and I'm grateful for that. |

| I have no feeling about gymnastics, but I think it's good to contact all kinds of sports, so I watched this anime. In Episode 1, the topic "Intai Samurai" is a spoiler for me. But it doesn't matter, because I want to see how the father can solve happiness for himself and his family. Also, there are mysterious samurai and big birds as funny elements, which make me feel good, so I intend to continue to watch. |

| Did anybody else notice that the Jotaro's ringtone was the ending theme from LOVE KOME: WE LOVE RICE of all things??? You know, that short anime about humanized rice that everyone absolutely hated?? Like I know that's a weird thing to notice, but what's up with that?? I couldn't find a connection from the director, voice actor, or studio. Anyways, whyyyy is the writing for this so stiff feeling and awkward? It's a neat premise but the way its presented just feels so... off in a way that's difficult to describe. Hopefully it picks up later, as it feels there's a lot of potential here. |

| Comedy scenes are great and the animation is ok, I think the anime is a bit crazy and I don't like characters designs so much. The ninja feels out of place in an anime like this. But maybe he can integrate well into the plot later. |
