Retsu's too much of a gentleman, even giving the guy a free shave.
I actually like how they explained boxing uses kicks against the ground.

Nice conclusion to the Retsu vs Jaku match and the kicking against the ground technique was interesting.

Now I'm hyped to see Yoijiru vs the geezer.

Good ep ! Am I the only one who gets rubbed the wrong way seeing Doppo, Jack & Shibukawa in the OP but there's this whole tournament they've be left out of, I hope they have a role to play later in the series.

The culmination to the Jaku/Retsu fight was superb. He pushed Retsu so far that he unleashed his furry on him to only be met with a defense so strong that he had to force him to stand straight to finish it all and even then he still held on firmly.

Retsu of course didn't dissapoint and fully acknowledged his opponents strenght.
The kicking against the ground example was interesting, but the message would have been a lot more apt if they mentioned that boxers get their strenght by planting the feet firmly, rotating the body with hip force and so putting their whole weight behind the punch.

Even though one could say Jaku was playing dirty, you gotta respect his level of trickey, unconventional fighting methods and his persistence to recruit Retsu.
So with the score of 3 for American/Japan team and 1 for Chinese team, I hope there will still be a match for Yujiro vs Kaku considering the team match basically ended with Mohammed's victory there.

Retsu won as expected.
Ali too of course with no trouble.
The chinese team only has that old man and Retsu good so far.

Retsu won the match but his opponent was actually good enough to require him to give his all to actually beat. You'd think that Jaku's just there to get his ass kicked like with Ron and Han since he's not really part of the main cast but he held his ground rather well.

Alai Jr.'s fighting style looks like a sabre dance that can slice really nicely!

It seemed bland to me at first, but I'm falling in love with Jr's fighting style, his match up was amazing.

I don't really get it. Why did the crowd cheer for Jaku at the end of his match? They hated him throughout (save for when he gave Retsu his arm back), especially when he announced his victory after Retsu stopped attacking him (which was after the arm thing iirc). The only logical explanation was that they respected Retsu so much that they acknowledged his (wrong IMO) explanation for why Jaku should be praised. The big problem with that though is that the Retsu thing and the Jaku thing about holding on were both monologues; it made no sense for any other characters to build up on those ideas.
Not a fan of that fight, especially the ending. I'm flip-flopping around on Retsu's personality a lot. Sometimes I like him, then he does something that I don't understand.
Edit: Feels a lot like you gotta respect the Japanese written character. They couldn't have Retsu lose, so they made the next best thing; Retsu saying the guy's a good martial artist.
