THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
I think this has a decent start with the real life setting and I can appreciate the drama and realism feel of the show.

Haru has a personality that I think I can get used to while the rest of the cast so far seems normal. Rikuo's job at the store isn't something special to brag about but for a character, I think there's a lot of room for development.

The art style looks okay and music has a serene like feeling for the show.

I like the manga for this (gave it a 7.5-8), so seeing the anime for this is nice. And I pleasantly enjoyed the first episode.

Haru's as charming and full of life as I remember her from the manga, she's great. Has a mysterious aura but also has so much personality too to admire. And already the love triangle seems to slowly be forming in the roots.

The pleasant, relaxing tone of the love triangle anime makes it feel more real and more engaging in my opinion, rather than feeling like it's being forced so well done with the anime for setting the tone right with the music and even the aesthetically pleasing artstyle.

Overall, a nice first episode. I can see people being bored by it, not liking the main character for being a bit dull, but I didn't mind any of this. Solid stuff.

As expected from the director of Plastic Memories, the series has a very nice feel to it, even tho, if I had to, this is rather comparable with Natsuyuki Rendezvous. The characters seen also likeable.

Good first impression overall, I'm always up for a grounded romance.

Who the fuck feeds crows?

This was nice. A lot of things going on here that I like, such as the character art and the overall atmosphere. It'd be dumb to not expect even more drama, but I hope it's not really bad melodrama.

Good first episode. This is one of the shows I was looking forward to, and I’m not disappointed. This is giving me welcome to the NHK vibes though. I mean him smoking on a bench with a girl. And his face looks the same. And how (ง ͠° ͟ل͜ ͡°)ง he doesn’t have a proper job.

Good first episode. I liked it.

Haru is a mysterious character but she's quite cheerful.

The main, Rikuo, got rejected.

I don't why but I really enjoyed this first episode. I understand people who are not fans of the slice of life genre to be bored by it, but me being a big fan of the genre, this first episode really resonates with me. So far the art style kinda gives me a Aku No Hana vibe just not as dark. I haven't read the manga, but the story so far gives me a Welcome to the NHK vibe. Also that ending theme was really good. I really hope the show continues with this quality!

I too hope for an easy going drama, although from the look of it that teacher is going to cause some havoc.. I liked everything in the first episode but I can smell the melodrama cooking!

Yeah, that's a good way of putting it. I mean even this episode was pretty dramatic, considering all that happened. It was still comfy though.

Surprisingly great. I usually hate moody emo romances like this but I thinkI’m hooked. Everyone so far has baggage that needs to be unloaded.

I have high hopes for a good outcome.

Probably the show I was looking forward to the most from Spring, and this first episode didn't disappoint. I like the characters already, and the production values are fantastic by SoL standards. I could see this being the sleeper hit of the season.

I love how they knock out all the back story and the confession in the first episode. Now we can get development throughout the entire series. I love Drama/Romance anime and I am strapped in for this one. The animation is amazing! I also think they nailed Rikuo va spot on (Kobayashi Chikahiro did Legoshi in Beastars and I see a lot of similarities between Legoshi and Rikuo!)

It's one of the first episodes where I can not pick who I like more of the females. Haru or Shinako. They both have their positives so far! Man I am ready for this ride!

Even with the pacing being too fast, this was a great episode. A main character which I can relate to more then I would like to admit, a relaxing atmosphere, great production values (god bless Doga Kobo) and a contender for best girl, this anime has the potential to become a real gem.

Great first episode! Definitely surpassed my expectations, and hardly feels like a Doga Koba show in all honesty but they’re always at the top of their game when it comes to animation quality and this is no exception. Lots of movement shown during the conversations and it really suits the theme of the show imo.

I’m always down for more moody, mature and realistic shows so this great to have. Moreover, I personally seem to be particularly empathetic to “outcasts of society” like main characters as evidence from my track record of completed anime so it kind of feels like this show made right for me.

Uozomi really reminds me of Satou from NHK ni Youkoso and Haru (protecc that smile btw) likewise of Misaki. And then there’s Shinako-san and Kashiwa-senpai as well. Very similar attributes as such so I’m looking forward to seeing where this’ll go!

Damn, that heartbreak though. Really felt for him there. It’s going to get awkward between the two now, I’m sure. Hanazawa Kana with the top-tier VA, as always, was a treat too.

Feels like a lot of room for development for all three characters. Can’t wait for more of this! Plastic Memories Director on board for this is a real big plus too, I loved that show immensely and the atmosphere there was simply phenomenal. Seeing shades of that already fro here!

I'll post what I posted elsewhere.

I think there will be a lot of people who will tear this show apart, but I feel like it's really endearing to me. It may be because I can relate to a lot of what's being said, no matter how cliche the show I'm sure will seem to most. This will be definitely be another show I'll watch weekly. I really liked this. Pretty much everything about it. I gave it a 4/5.

Some of the themes make me think of Welcome to the NHK, but I hope this show delivers more than that one did. I liked NHK, but it didn't "wow" me.

Saturday’s are going to be packed with this Otome, Bookworm II, etc

I love the MC and both girls already. The seiyuus actually sound like real people instead of generic anime high pitched voices which is always a plus. It enhances my immersion.

Haru is an early girl of the season contender for me.

Doga Kobo have done a great job with the art, pacing and storytelling so far. This is the first non CGDCT show I’ve seen from them since Plamemo and I really like it. It feels very relaxing, relatable and the show passed by so quickly.

10/10 first episode. Love relatable romance shows like this with realistic settings and situations. The older you get the more they hit. One of my early nominees for AOTS and sleeper hit.

This is the new show I was most interested in this season, and I must say that this first episode was fantastic, I loved it.

It's weird to see Doga Kobo not doing a CGDCT show or something colorful but as one would expect from them, they have done an incredible job with the visuals.

About the episode, man, this is too real, and Rikuo is so relatable. Definitely my favourite premiere so far and Haru is already a contender for best girl of the season. PROTECT.

That scene in the park... Haru's little speech... I felt that on a deeper level haha I really relate with Rikuo with what's going on in my life right now too. I'm definitely gonna love this!

The art is stunning and that animation was so smooth and fluid. I found the characters fascinating from the moment they appeared on screen, especially Haru who stands out as someone who doesn't care about standing out and being 'odd' in a society that is built on conformity.

I love that Rikuo represents the 'lost adult' - someone who is 'grown-up' but still doesn't know what to do with their life or where they fit in the world - because it's a fact of life that even adults are still learning to navigate life and often feel just as disoriented and astray as kids do.

Wow, ok, an anime that's just 100% relatable, no matter how I look at it or which part I'm looking at..... Not sure if I'm entertained or hurting in that bittersweet way. Either way, it's beautiful and I love it. The characters, the sceneries, the dialogue, the art style, the music - everything.

Ahh this was a great first episode. Feels very refreshing to see a rom slice of life not set in a school scenario, the characters seem relatable and cool, the animation and art is also really pretty. Super impressed especially with the animation, and I'm digging the rough pencilly line art look it gives a lot more fluidity and personality to the animation in my opinion. And I really fuck with the toned down voice acting, it makes the show feel a ton more natural. Of course with Kobayashi as Rikuo's VA I don't know what else I was expecting other than A tier acting.

Also just a fun little fact that I thought was cute - Kobayashi also voiced Legosi of Beastars, and of course our main girl is called Haru. A small, cute coincidence !

An interesting and compelling first episode. I like how Rikuo confessed his feelings to Shinako. Even if it was out of the blue and "after all this time". I do believe that getting closure can help you to settle your feelings so it's always good when possible. And I like what Haru said about being a liar and how Rikuo could relate to her. They are kind of kindred spirits and I think it's going to be interesting to keep up with them.

This is so far my favorite anime of the season. The animation and framing is top-notch for the slice of life style and I quite like how the pacing is relatively slower than todays ADHD pace of just zooming through story beats. I would have liked the story to be a little more subtle (the "I HATE MY LIFE!" thing was completely unnecessary imo and it would have hit so much harder if it ended with resonating on him on the trash bags going "this is fine")

Overall, this is definitely my favorite first episode so far of an anime this season and I can only really see Kaguya S2 compete tbh.
